1001 and one things to do with CAIR's free Koran - From paper mache' pigs to burning

June 19, 2005

MIM: It appears that people are starting to use Yankee ingenuity and figuring out what to do with CAIR's free Korans. One artistically inclined army reservist suggested paper mache' pigs . A rather less creative initiative was the anonymous burning of a Koran, placing it in a plastic bag and putting it in front of a mosque . The Muslims pretended to have been 'shocked' and the Arab American Anti Discrimination committee screamed for an FBI investigation into what they termed a hate crime. The betting has begun as to if this incident will make the annals of CAIR's hate crime hoaxes, and when the press conference will take place. Which begs the question of when the ADL will be suing CAIR for distributing' hate literature' which refers to Jews as being turned into 'apes and swine', and means that the idea of making paper mache pigs out of the pages is 'according to the book. http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/redir.php?jid=66b928e08f3b4754&cat=a1327f7c4068c2fd

Army official: Recruit's Quran contest shows poor taste

(Syracuse, NY - AP) — Military officials and Muslim leaders in Syracuse aren't amused by an Army Reserve recruit's Web contest called "Create a Pig With the Koran."

The contest devised by Jon Alvarez involves using pages from the Muslim holy book to create papier-m Fach De pigs. The Muslim religion forbids followers from consuming pork. His Web site also gives links showing how to get a free copy of the Quran and how to make papier-mache.

Alvarez says the contest illustrates the hypocrisy of Muslim extremists who burn the American flag and condemn Americans for the supposed desecration of the Quran at Guantanamo Bay.

In April, Alvarez enlisted in the Army Reserve and is scheduled to report to boot camp in August.

An officer with the Army Reserve's 403rd Civil Affairs Battalion, based in suburban Mattydale, says the contest "shows poor taste." The officers says the matter will be discussed with Alvarez when he reports for duty.

MIM :Will you have fries with that?

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- A bag stuffed with burned Qurans was left in front of an Islamic center, shocking members when they arrived for prayers.

The torched copies of the Muslim holy book were inside a plastic shopping bag, members of the Islamic Center of Blacksburg said. They said the bag had been placed at the center's front door sometime before Saturday prayers.

"It is a shame that people are so ignorant," member Idris Adjerid said.

Kevin Foust, the agent in charge of the Roanoke FBI office, said Thursday his office is helping local police investigate. He declined to speculate whether the incident would be classified as a hate crime under state or federal law.

An incident can only be deemed a hate crime if it was meant to intimidate or harass, police said. Laila Al-Qatami, a spokeswoman for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in Washington, D.C., said the Quran burning fits that definition.

"If pages from the Bible were burned and put in a bag outside a church, I think the reaction of the police would be that it would be a hate crime," she said.

MIM: Given the fact that the Koran flush story was a hoax and that an inmate at Guantanamo did stick Koran pages into his toilet to stop up the plumbing it is very likely that this Koran 'desecration' was staged .

The first place to look should should be the Muslim community to find the 'origin of the feces' and the Koran defecator.

What better way to generate outrage and free publicity then to scream

CAIR's press release is also a joke :

The organisation is notorious for reporting hate crimes hoaxes as' 'true but inaccurate' .

Dr. Daniel Pipes recently documented this in an article entitled "CAIR's Hate Crimes Hoaxes".

Feces-Covered Quran Left At Housing Complex

CAIR asks American leaders to address growing anti-Muslim sentiment

by OfficialWire NewsDesk

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- (OfficialWire) -- 06/23/05 -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called on local and national leaders to address growing anti-Muslim sentiment in our society following an apparently intentional desecration of the Quran in Nashville, Tennessee.

CAIR said Islamic leaders in Nashville reported Wednesday that an Arabic-language copy of Islam's revealed text was torn, burned, covered with excrement and left outside an East Nashville housing complex that is home to many Muslim families.

As word of the desecration spread through the Islamic community, dozens of Muslims reportedly gathered at the site of the desecration to express their outrage.

Metropolitan Nashville Police Department Lt. Steve Hewitt told CAIR Wednesday night: "Clearly we have to be open-minded to the possibility it is a hate crime." He said it was still too early in the investigation to make a final determination as to motive and that he has informed the local office of the FBI about the case.

"It would be difficult to come up with a scenario in which this incident was not bias-motivated," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. "Our nation's leaders need to address what seems to be a growing level of intolerance and anti-Muslim sentiment in American society." Awad asked people of conscience in Tennessee and throughout the nation to repudiate anti-Muslim bigotry by obtaining and reading a Quran.

CAIR made that same request earlier this month when burned copies of the Quran were found outside a Virginia mosque. Local police and the FBI are treating that incident as a possible hate crime.

On Tuesday, CAIR urged judges meeting in North Carolina to allow use of the Quran when administering oaths. CAIR issued that call after a Guilford County judge said that an oath taken on the Quran is not a lawful oath under state law.

Following allegations that Guantanamo guards desecrated Islam's holy text, CAIR launched a campaign, called "Explore the Quran," designed to provide free Qurans to Americans of all faiths. Some 14,000 of people have already taken advantage of that offer. To obtain or sponsor a free Quran, visit www.explorethequran.org.

CAIR, America's largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 31 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
