Israel, In Need Of A National Couch - High Court Halts Demolitions Of Terrorists Homes

November 28, 2014

November 26, 2014 – San Francisco, CA – PipeLineNews.org – Evidence of the rotting of Western Culture can be found nearly everywhere; in the United States' refusal to control its borders or re-establish the rule of law, Sweden's buckling to the demands of a lunatic Muslim minority, France's acceptance of no-go areas, festering Islamic neighborhoods, Britain's failure to stop the constant calls to jihad which come from the country's mosques as well as its recognition of over 100 Shari'a courts…

But this sickness, the unwillingness of West to defend itself against predation, especially that of the Muslim world, has circled back on itself in a manner that defies belief.

In less than 6 months the Jewish state has been forced to fight a defensive war against HAMAS/Fatah after it had launched over 400 rocket attacks on the country from its safe haven in Gaza. Over the last month these same terrorists have waged a brutal wave of "lone wolf" murders against Israeli civilians which have killed over ten people including a 3 month old baby.

Naturally, the entire country has been traumatized.

The response so far has been tepid; a few of these terrorists have been killed in gun battles and a few dozen have been detained for questioning. The most extreme policy the Netanyahu government has undertaken has been the demolition of some of the terrorists' homes.

But even that rather mild remedy has now been halted by Israel's notoriously out-of-control - Supreme Court, which has granted an injunction against the practice, of course in response to a lawsuit by Arab plaintiffs.

"The High Court on Wednesday kiboshed government plans to demolish the homes of terrorists. One of the few methods security forces in Israel have to discourage Arabs from joining the ranks of terrorists – demolishing the homes of those involved in terrorism – was taken off the table as the result of a lawsuit by an Arab rights group. In an effort to rein in the country's high court, legislation has been working its way through the Knesset designed to stop the judicial over reach but it has met with stiff resistance from the Arabs as well as leftist Israelis who don't seem to care about the fate of a homeland which was bequeathed to them.

‘Uzi Landau, a cabinet minister, said the legislation was necessary because of the Supreme Court's opposition to such policies. "It is left wing, political, detached from Judaism and at times from reality, and allows itself to intrude into places where it has no business," he said. Supporters of the legislation say they will now push for a third bill that would allow the Knesset to veto the appointment of any Supreme Court judge of whom it disapproves." The imperious nature of the Israeli Supreme Court is well known [it serves as a template which American Marxists seek to emulate] caused Robert Bork [now deceased, whose nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court was blocked by an ugly campaign of personal attacks led by then Senator Ted [the diver] Kennedy of Chappaquiddick infamy] to observe:

"Israel has set a standard for judicial imperialism that can probably never be surpassed, and, one devoutly hopes, will never be equaled elsewhere." Bork finds "less and less reason for the Israeli people to bother electing a legislature and executive; the attorney general, with the backing of the Supreme Court, can decide almost everything for them." To make things worse, judges in Israel, including Supreme Court judges, are chosen by a non-elected panel dominated by other judges, and there are no possibilities for impeachment of judges by the parliament or by ballot initiative." With America's cities in flames because a multi-racial grand jury refused to indict an innocent white law enforcement officer, pointing fingers is hardly appropriate, yet the case of Israel is as special as it is instructive.

No democracy on Earth has been subjected to the level of enmity expressed by the West as has the Jewish state. It's as if the anti-Semitism, pogroms, the Shoah and the daily violence that Israel has and continues to face is of no consequence. What's worse however is that a substantial number of Israeli Jews seem to be in full support of the program – Stockholm Syndrome writ large.
