Reports and pictures from Benghazi indicate that Libyan security men may have been complicit in the murder of U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens.

According to CBS News, Wanis al-Sharef, a Libyan Interior Ministry official in Benghazi, described what happened when as angry mob fired guns and burned down the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

"He said Stevens, 52, and other officials were moved to a second building – deemed safer – after the initial wave of protests at the consulate compound," the website reported. "According to al-Sharef, members of the Libyan security team seem to have indicated to the protesters the building to which the American officials had been relocated, and that building then came under attack."

Breitbart.com further quotes the report on CBS News as saying that "Stevens died of suffocation, while two U.S. Marines sent to Benghazi when the clash erupted were shot and killed by well-armed protesters." Reports in Arab news outlets said he died of asphyxiation as a result of smoke inhalation.

The paragraph regarding the suffocation appears to have been removed from the CBS page.

Photos (be advised – the photos are revolting) that appear to be of Stevens' body being handled by the mob, including a man in uniform, show his lips to be very dark blue – a possible indication that he did indeed die of suffocation.
