December 4, 2011 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Bumbling Secretary of State Clinton is meddling in Israeli domestic politics again, this time attacking proposed legislation that in her opinion is anti-democratic.
At issue is the separation of the genders in certain instances practiced by Hareidi Jews, which they believe is a matter of modesty. Additionally there is legislation afoot which would ban continued government funding of NGOs and journalistic groups whose criticism of Israel has reached fever pitch.
Clinton's comments understandably evoked a blizzard of criticism from Israeli politicians who essentially told her to mind her own business and shut up.
"National Union MK Uri Ariel commented Sunday that Clinton "would do well not to interfere with Israel's internal affairs...Her unwanted interference is an additional proof that Israel needs laws that will preserve its character and protect it from interference by foreign governments who try to minimize Israel's Jewish character..." Yuval Steinitz Israel's Finance Minister stated, "Israel is a living and liberal democracy, I do not know of many other democracies that are any better..." Given this administration's policy of ignoring the omnipresent religious bigotry on display in every Muslim nation and officially banning any criticism of anything having to do with Islam, Clinton's statements on this matter are as absurd as they are indefensible. They serve to provide aid and comfort to Islamists worldwide at a time when revolutionary Muslims are engaged in a wholesale attempt to resuscitate the caliphate under the guise of the so-called "Arab Spring" a movement fully supported by this administration. Her remarks are especially harmful at a time when the existence of the only democracy in the Middle East is under increasing assault by Muslim nations ruled by brutal, corrupt governments.
