Wilders Says Democracy Impossible With Islam

February 25, 2011

In a two part interview in NU.nl Geert Wilders the leader of the Freedom Party in Holland stated that the situation in Tunesia, Egypt and Libya can go from bad to worse and that there is a big chance that Islamists can seize power.

He cited figures from a recent Pew poll which revealed that a 90% of Egyptians are for stoning of adulterers and that 80%are for the murder of apostates.

Wilders said that the demonstraters on the Tahrir plain were "not representative of the Egyptian people" and pointed out that in many places there had been calls for the establishment of an Islamic Caliphate.

He said that cities in Libya which had fallen to opponents of Ghaddafi were strongholds of Islamism.

"According to the PVV leader the development of democracy necessitates that people distance themselves from Islam. "If that doesn't happen it will never be feasible and every democracy would be fake".
