Peres Charge of Brit Anti-Semitism Spot On, But When Will He Reject Oslo?

August 2, 2010

August 2, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Shimon Peres, Israel's president - and a seminal figure in that country's history - shook the Brits up this weekend, indicting them for a kind of soft anti-Semitism, accusing them, sardonically, of hating the Jews only as much as is "necessary."

Peres buttressed his allegation, charging UK MPs with pandering for Muslim votes.

"And in England there has always been something deeply pro-Arab...and anti-Israeli, in the establishment...They abstained in the [pro-Zionist] 1947 UN partition resolution ... They maintained an arms embargo against us in the 1950s ... They always worked against us. They think the Arabs are the underdogs." [source, David Harrison, Adrian Bloomfield, Fury as Israel President Claims the English are Anti-Semitic, Telegraph UK, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/israel/7920330/Fury-as-Israel-president-claims-English-are-anti-semitic.html]

While - judging from Brit actions - it seems beyond conjecture that Peres' indictment regarding them is correct, though presented in a ham-fisted manner. But a greater recognition on the part of Mr. Peres is needed, as long as the air is being cleared so-to-speak, he should seriously consider rejecting Israel's suicidal Oslo "peace process," in which he, Yitzhak Rabin and PLO terrorist Yasser Arafat forged under the direction of president Clinton in September of 1993.

In the ensuing 7 years the ruinous nature of Oslo has been on display, being ridiculously used as some sort of metric whereby Israel is negatively judged, as if it's Israeli's rather than the Muslim Arabs who are responsible for the continuous state of low intensity warfare in the region.

In that sense Peres' 1994 Nobel Peace prize is a symbol of servitude, rather than achievement.

Despite his long and commendable record of service, Mr. Peres is prototypical of the old-guard leftist Jewish leader whose devotion to pleasing outside interests and appearing as non-authentically Jewish as possible to the outside world, is constantly at odds with the security needs of his country. He has refused so-far to accept his part in holding Israel to a standard which is impossible to achieve, without committing national suicide.

War aside, leaders in the Peres mold refuse to recognize that in Israel's under-appreciated but absurdly accommodational policies vis-à-vis its Arab population [now 20% of the whole] lies slow death. Given the far higher birth rate of the "Palestinians," at some point in the future, Jews will find themselves a minority in their own country - an inescapable demographic time bomb if not dealt with.

In a larger sense, the truth that Mr. Peres and his ilk are unwilling to confront is that unless the violent jihadist "Palestinian," element is defeated on the battlefield, until terrorists such Haniyeh and his henchmen face the personal prospect of imminent destruction nothing will change.

It's impossible to sue for peace absent a defeated party.

Only a victor can establish peace, it's up to Israel's Jews to seize that victory now. Left to the devices of the Arab Muslims and team Obama, without action, the country's future isn't bleak, it's black.
