South Park episode censored after Muslim threats

After two cartoonists received death threats from a NY based Islamist group the website of the cartoon show South Park had posted a message as to why an episode depicting Muhammad in a bear suit cannot be accessed. The cartoon was also censored when it was shown on Comedy Central with a black box covering the bear character.

The notice read:

"We apologise that South Park Studios cannot stream episode 201 at this time.

After we delivered the show and prior to broadcast, Comedy Central placed numerous additional audio bleeps throughout the episode. We do not have network approval to stream our original version of the show.

We will bring you a version of show 201 as soon as we can."

In an article entitled "South Park Controversy - New York Islamist Group "Revolution Muslim" Incites Murder of Cartoon's Creators" which included a video issued by the group was quoted:

"As the New York Times views the matter:

"The post, written by Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee, said that the episode "outright insulted" the Prophet, adding:

'We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.[source, '"http://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=southpark4.21.10%2Ehtm]

According to a New York Times blog entry:

"The new episode of "South Park" on Wednesday night tried to revisit this character, but with the name and depiction of the character blocked out…On Thursday morning, a spokesman for Comedy Central confirmed that the network had added more bleeps to the episode than were in the cut delivered by South Park Studios, and that it was not giving permission for the episode to run on the studio's Web site." The censorship employed by South Park producers due to Islamist threats is another example of how jihad and shari'a are steadily encroaching upon American society.
