Terror Bomber Rachid Ramda Gets 22 Year Minimum Sentence

October, 2009 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Rachid Ramda an Algerian born terrorist, granted asylum by Britain in 1993 and subsequently protected from extradition to France - despite being implicated in a 1995 series of bombings in that country - has been sentenced to life in prison by a French national security appeals court, after an excruciatingly long period during which justice was delayed.

Ramda originally fled to the UK from Algeria [a former French colony], having been found guilty in absentia of a bomb plot at the Algiers airport which killed 9. The attack is believed to have been the work of the GIA [Armed Islamic Group of Algeria], a group with which Ramda was associated.

Ramda though granted political asylum by Brit authorities, was nonetheless jailed in 1995 because of the obvious danger he represented. Despite his previous activity and the knowledge that he was involved in the French bombings, the UK prevented Ramda's extradition.

The official reason for this reluctance stemmed from a belief that France might have sent Ramda back to Algeria where he would have faced a very harsh prison experience followed by the death penalty for his 1993 crimes. The French had always maintained that they never had any intention of sending Ramda back to his homeland, but this clouds the real issue in this matter which is the UK's suicidal devotion to a multiculturalism borne of moral confusion.

After the July 7, 2007 London Underground bombings, heavily implicating the UK's policy of coddling jihadists, Ramda was finally remanded to France for trial.

As is usually the case in such matters, a large support group has congealed around Ramda, composed primarily of hard core socialists and their Islamist counterparts.

Typical of these movement types [culled from various sources] are:

Campaign Against Criminalising Communities, Cageprisoners, The National Guantanamo Coalition, Witness Against Torture, Free Babar Ahmad, Reprieve, Redress, ACLU, Center for Constitutional Rights, Institute for Race Relations, The Transnational Institute, The Campaign Against Racism And Fascism, The Islamic Human Rights Commission, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, End of Empire, Iran Solidarity, Campaign Iran, Globalise resistance, Lawyers Against The War, World Socialist Website, Muslim Association of Britain, Islamic Society of Britain, UK Palestine solidarity Campaign, Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, The Socialist Worker Newspaper, The Socialist Voice Newspaper, ZNet, Indymedia, Counterpunch, Truth Out, al Jazeera, Media Lens, Muslim News, Islam Online.

So extreme are these supporters that they widely distribute claims which are so outlandish as to test even the credulity of true believers, "Everyone loves Rachid. He is an exceptional man. Rachid's imprisonment is politically motivated - he is an innocent pawn in "their" game." and "What can I say about Rachid Ramda? That he is the most sweet man - the most peaceful and gentle soul?" [source, http://www.sacc.org.uk/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=60&catid=29]

These glowing character references stand in stark contrast to the damning evidence presented during Ramda's trial.

"A police search of Ramda's London address produced a Western Union payment slip bearing his fingerprints which showed he had sent 5,000 pounds ($10,250) to the Paris bombers." [source, http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L25825836.htm]

Europe's inability/unwillingness to deal with its growing and restive radical Muslim presence is self-induced. Though it should serve as a warning for the United States not to pursue the same policies, we are already well-along a similar path, willing to tolerate identical populations [consider Dearbornistan, Ohio] for the sake of obeisance to the rotting core of post modernism. http://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=ramda10.14.09%2Ehtm
