Young Muslims' Moderator Hater - Mujahideen Ryder promotes hate on Muslim youth web forum

Young Muslims' Moderator Hater By: Joe Kaufman

Earlier this month, Amir Mukhtar Sahib, Moderator for the Young Muslims web forum, questioned why Muslims harbor hate for other Muslims. He theorized that Muslims are "insecure" about their "own beliefs." Yet, while he is concerned about the hate emanating from his brothers and sisters, for years, Sahib has been spreading his own hatred. Only his has been aimed at non-Muslims.

Young Muslims (YM) is the youth arm of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), an extremist group with deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood of Pakistan, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). YM has been in existence since around 1996. It is divided between a "Brothers" group and a "Sisters" group. The organization sponsors various events during the year, including conferences, outings and retreats, formerly known as "jihad camps."

YM also has a large web presence. Both the Brothers and Sisters units each have their own separate websites. And each of the sites has its own web forum or message board for people to post their thoughts. The forums are patrolled by Moderators, who are responsible for what is written on them. Many times the content drifts way beyond the pale with horrifically bigoted posts and posts which state support for terrorist organizations. Often, it's the Moderators themselves that are posting the depraved content.

One of YM's Moderators is Amir Mukhtar Sahib, a 24-year-old male who goes by the screen name Mujahideen Ryder (MR). He says he got the idea for his screen name from his interest in the "Mujahideen of Afghanistan who fought the Russians before I was even born." Of course, these were the same mujahideen, Maktab al-Khidamat (MAK), who later attacked the U.S. in 1993 and who soon would be transformed into al-Qaeda.

While his parents hailed from Guyana, Sahib was born in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Stony Brook University (SBU) in Long Island, where he was a board member for the school's Muslim Students Association (MSA), a radical campus group associated with the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun.

Sahib has been involved in Young Muslims for a number of years. He is a former YM youth coordinator and he has held the position of head of YM Security at ICNA conferences, where his duties included "ushering people to each session," "greeting everyone coming into the lecture hall," and "shutting down any type of late night fitna [fraternization] within the convention boundaries."

Since at least 2004, Sahib has been a Moderator for the YM Brothers website forum. Also since 2004, Sahib has used the forum to propagate hatred and violence.

On November 4, 2004, Moderator Sahib posted on YM about how Islam was soon to take over the United States. He wrote, "With bush winning the election, we are now 4 years ahead of schedule in establish[ing] islam aka iqamatudeen, alhamdulillah. [I]f mr. bush does wat he does best, the country of america shall deterio[r]ate, making it easy for Islam to take over, inshaAllah. [T]he only problem is to find the workers, the muslims, the brothers and sisters who are down wit this, the muslim youth [i.e. Young Muslims]."

Shortly after that, on November 11, 2004, he gave a rallying cry to various terrorist organizations and predicted the future murder of Jews. He wrote, "[L]ets go al aqsa martyrs brigade! [W]here u at hamas? [W]here my hezbuallah brothaz at? [I]z all good brothers and sisters, they'll be more yahoodi blood."

Aside from the YM forum, Sahib has his own website that he posts to, a blog with the title of his YM name, Mujahideen Ryder. On it, he has said that he is "impressed" with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; he has called himself a "huge fan" of al-Qaeda operative Anwar al-Awlaki; he has posted articles written by Tariq Ramadan, whose U.S. visa was revoked for providing funds to Hamas-related charities; he has referred to the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al-Banna, as the "Reviver of Islam;" and he has praised the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab Mujahideen for "helping the Somali people in terms of establishing law and order."

As well, Sahib regularly uses his site to demean members of other faiths. About Hindus, he wrote, "It amazes me that these people call [sic] themselvse Hindus and call their religion Hinduism, yet it isn't even defined by their own people, their own language or even their own gods… About the ‘not being Divine' thing, it's pretty clear Hinduism is man-made."

Concerning Christians, Sahib stated, "Christmas has nothing to do with religion… Christmas should be re-named Christma$." And about Jews, he wrote, "Some Jews would do anything to get money." And "If Israel was a real Jewish state, there would be peace, because Israel would be within Palestine. Like New York is in the US." On June 4, 2009, he admitted his hate towards Jews, when he confessed, "I stereotype Israelis and Jews in general a lot."

On his blog, Sahib has even targeted his own country. In January 2006, he wrote that there is "strong evidence that the US is responsible for the 9/11 attacks." And in January 2009, he posted the following: "You can burn as much American flags as you want but that won't make a difference. The only way to remove America from the Muslim world is to have those in power in the Muslim world to remove them, but unfortunately they are loved by many Muslims."

Sahib has also criticized his fellow Muslims, not for the simple fact that they are Muslims, but because, in his words, as Muslims they hate one another – and for the fact that they murder more Muslims than non-Muslims.

On June 5, 2009, Sahib wrote on his site, "We can't even get along and yet we want to do Jihad. There are also people claiming to be Mujahideen yet they blow themselves up, kill other Muslims and then buy weapons from the kuffar to kill more Muslims… If you look at the number of Muslims killed by Muslims versus the number of non-Muslims killed by Muslims you will see a sharp difference. There is something wrong. We are doing something wrong."

Sahib's complaint that Muslims kill more Muslims than non-Muslims – or "kuffar" as he calls them – is indicative of the type of individual he is and the nature of the organization he is a leader of. Indeed, when Sahib uses the title "Mujahideen Ryder," he is calling himself a murderer or, similar to his own words, someone who "blows himself up to kill others"

Amir Mukhtar Sahib's complaint is outrageous, if not entirely dangerous. If in actuality it is his fellow Muslims who are the problem, then it is because they have allowed someone such as him to speak for them.
