Taliban Challenges Obama To Reject War On Terror And Work For Peace

By WILLIAM MAYER and BEILA RABINOWITZ

November 5, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Apparently ebullient over the election of "former" Muslim Barack Obama as president of the United States, the Taliban announced today in Afghanistan that it will join with America in pursuing peace in the region if only he will reject president Bush's war on terror.

Taliban spokesman, Qari Mohammad Yusuf Ahmadi, told the Afghan Islamic press located in Pakistan that, "We want him to change the policies of President Bush. He could end the years-long war by withdrawing U.S. and allied troops from Afghanistan."

Ahmadi further stated that an Iraqi-like sure would not work in Afghanistan, "Even if a soldier is tied to every stone in Afghanistan, the West would not be able to produce a government of its choice in Afghanistan."

On October 30, an al-Qaeda leader demanded that the Republican party must be "humiliated," in the presidential election, with Abu Yahya al-Libi offering the prayer, "O God, humiliate Bush and his party, O Lord of the Worlds, degrade and defy him." Yahya's sermon was delivered at a celebration of the Muslim feast, Eid al-Fitr. http://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=talibanid=11.5.08%2Ehtm
