Geert Wilders Faces Arrest On International Warrant From Jordan

June 23, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Dutch parliamentarian and head of the Freedom Party, Geert Wilders has been, "accused of incitement to hatred against Islam and Muslims," by a group which filed a suit to prosecute him for his recent film Fitna.
The group calls itself "The Messenger of Allah Unites Us" and the Jordanian court which accepted the suit is expected to subpoena Mr. Wilders and issue an international arrest warrant. This means that Wilders faces arrest if he leaves Holland.
The Dutch minister of foreign affairs, Maxime Verhagen is taking the matter very seriously. Legally Wilders is in a perilous situation and even countries which have no extradition treaty with Jordan can extradite him in order to preserve their commercial ties.
Commenting on the controversy, Wilders stated, "In this manner my freedom of movement is enormously limited and I can not operate as a politician."
