Transfer Of Kifah Jayyousi, Dirty Bomber Padilla Accomplice, Halted

May 8, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - U.S. federal district judge Marcia Cooke has temporarily halted the transfer of Kifah Wael Jayyousi, a convicted terrorist [serving a 12 year sentence] and associate of "dirty bomber" Jose Padilla based on a motion filed by Jayyousi's attorney claiming his client is being subjected to racial profiling and discrimination.

Jayyousi's attorney is attempting to permanently halt moving him to the Communications Management Unit in the Federal Correctional Complex located in Terre Haute, Ind., which houses over two hundred inmates, many of them high profile jihadists.

The unit was created in response to criticism leveled at DOJ that convicted terrorists were not being adequately monitored, especially regarding their ability to communicate with outside sympathizers.

The most prominent example of which is the case of Omar Abdel Rahman's [convicted 1993 World Trade Center bombing conspirator] attorney Lynne Stewart, who conspired to smuggle messages from the "Blind Sheikh" to al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya, an Egyptian terrorist group, designated by the U.S. State Dept. as a Foreign Terrorist Organization [FTO].

Stewart was subsequently convicted of providing material support to a terrorist organization.

In another case of lenient treatment punishment for terrorists, on January 22, 2008 Judge Marcia Cooke sentenced Padilla to17 years, Kifah Wael Jayyousi to 12 years and Adham Amin Hassoun to15 years when the federal guidelines suggested a minimum sentence of 30 years.

Similar leniency was demonstrated in Stewart's sentence of only 28 months for acting as a material agent of international terror.

Cook is slated to hear the formal complaint on May 22. http://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=padilla5.8.08%2Ehtm
