Phony Moderate Muslim Muzammil Siddiqi Disrespects Holy Father, "Popes come and go"
April 15, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, Director of the Islamic Society of Orange County and widely feted within the tainted atmosphere of the "interfaith dialogue" community as a moderate Muslim, once again is betraying his radical roots, attending a today scheduled conference with Pope Benedict XVI under apparent great duress, stating, "our going there is more out of respect for the Catholic Church itself...Popes come and go, but the church is there."
Siddiqi's statement should be especially embarrassing to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, members of which having been prominently engaged in dialogue with him to the degree that he has been appointed co-chair of the West Coast Muslim-Catholic Dialogue.
It's worth noting that Dr. Siddiqi served two terms as president [1997-2001] of the Islamic Society of America [ISNA]. He is also a member of the Supreme Islamic Council of Egypt and the Supreme Council of Mosques in Makkah, Saudia Arabia.
ISNA is closely affiliated with the Egyptian terrorist organization the Muslim Brotherhood and was, along with CAIR and similar groups and individuals, named last summer as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest U.S. prosecution in history of terror funding, U.S. v Holy Land Foundation.
Additonally Siddiqi in his capacity at the Islamic Society of Orange County, Dr. Siddiqi is widely believed to the the key figure in the conversion of a 25 year-old American, Adam Gadahn who became radicalized, fled the United States and now serves as an official al-Qaeda spokesman, where he is called Azzam the American.
When evaluated against this considerable baggage, Siddiqi's objection to Pope Benedict is understandable, though indefensible.
This Pope, and just for Dr. Siddiqi's edification, the Pope is doctrinally indistinguishable from the Catholic Church on Earth, has demonstrated an understanding of the virulent aspects of Islam and is not afraid to speak out against them, witness his 2006 address in Regensberg, Germany [see, Mohammed In Hell] where he referred to the writings of Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus "Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached," something the emperor was intimately aware of since he recorded this passage during the Muslim siege of Constantinople, sometime between 1394 and 1402.
By raising such subject matter, controversial only in the eyes of charlatans such as Siddiqi, the Pope has demonstrated that he is fully aware of the conflict we find ourselves in as a result of Islamic expansionism and fully intends to be an active player.
Whether this Pope will be required to serve in a capacity similar to that of Pope Innocent XI, who in 1683 organized Europe's Christian princes into an army which broke the Muslim siege of Vienna, signalling the end of the Ottoman Turk's dominance on the continent, remains to be seen. However what is clearly apparent is that Pope Benedict is aware of what Dr. Daniel Pipes calls, "a clash between civilization and barbarism," and is using the power of good offices to affect its outcome. http://www.pipelinenews.org/index.cfm?page=siddiqi4.15.08%2Ehtm
