CAIR Working To Destroy U.S.-Canadian Relationship

March 28, 2007 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - The Council on American Islamic Relations [CAIR] the Saudi funded Wahhabist pressure group and front for Hamas, is allying itself with some of Canada's most radical socialist organizations in an attempt to materially and negatively alter the relationship between the United States and its northern neighbor, calling the effort an opportunity to "re-think" "current Canada-U.S. policy."

CAIR claims that the relationship between the U.S. and Canada "has put civil liberties, the environment, energy and job security in jeopardy."

The Canadian groups with which CAIR is working are a who's who of "anti-globalist" lefties. One of these organizations is the Council of Canadians [COC], run by socialist Maude Barlow.

COC is opposed to free trade with the United States, despite the fact that America is Canada's largest and most important trading partner and is vehemently opposed to Canada's participation in the war on Islamist terror.

"Under George Bush, the United States has rejected the international rule of law and unilaterally declared itself the arbiter of good and evil in the world. Nation-states, cultures and societies that do not meet the U.S. Administration's definition of a "free democracy" are by definition, potential enemies of the U.S. and its interests… American authorities have demanded, and got, strict new anti-terrorism legislation in Canada that mirrors U.S. laws and that gives authorities new powers to crack down on legal dissent. American authorities have demanded, and got, strict new legislation in Canada on refugees and immigrants, essentially giving the American military total control of the border." In "Blue Gold" Barlow argues a bizarre conspiracy theory that Israel has pursued a policy of "invading its neighbors" to secure water, that water is the key limit to Israel's economic growth and that it lusts after Iran because it is a "verdant country" while Israel is a desert.

In Blue Gold Barlow also makes the larger assertion that there is a corporatist plot to steal the world's water.

Other participants in this CAIR sponsored effort are socialists Diana Gibson, Director of the Parkland Institute and Teresa Healy, Senior Researcher at the Canadian Labour Congress.

The relationship between the U.S. and Canada is productive and beneficial, a model of international cooperation and respect. CAIR's alliance with this small group of fringe dissidents once again proves that its devotion is not to "civil rights" as it claims but is rather dedicated to harming American interests whenever and wherever it can.

That Barlow's group is obviously anti-Semitic completes the picture and CAIR partnering with such obviously extreme elements speaks poorly of its commitment to Western democratic values.
