Facts about terror ties of Florida mosque which received taxpayer funded help - CAIR member also official of Al Qaeda funding front

November 11, 2006

MIM: The Council on American Islamic Relations ties to Al Qaeda come full circle in the story of the Hernando mosque- while CAIR is calling it's critics names, the groups ties to the Hernando mosque and the Benevolent International Foundation are clear.

The spokesman and lawyer for the Canadian branch of BIF- Faisal Kutty is the vice chairman of CAIR Canada.

A trustee and founder of the Hernando mosque, Dr. Imad (Ed) Tarabishy, is the registered agent of "Bright International" a front for BIF. The address for the 'foreign profit' enterprise and it's Canadian directors is the same one as the Afghanistan Information and Rehabilition Bureau aka Al Ansar mosque. A frequent visitor at the mosque is Ahmed Kutty the father of Imam Faisal Kutty, who was detained in 2003 in Orlando upon arrival from Canada.

Ahmed Kutty had a business card from the Islamic Society of North America - an affiliate of the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT). In that same year the then head of ISNA Sayeed Sayeed spoke at the Hernando mosque to thank the congregants for their funding their national conference,. Sayid also visited the mosque in 2004, indicating the important role which Imad Tarabishy, and the Hernando County mosque which he helped to found, play in ISNA's activities.

.In short - Dr. Imad Tarabishy , trustee and prayer leader of the Hernando mosque, registered a U.S. front for the Al Qaeda funding operation known as Benevolent International Foundation in Canada, under the name of Bright International Ltd. He also registered BIL at the address of his medical practice at 13339 Cortez Blvd. where he works as an orthopedic surgeon.

BIF is being sued for trillions by victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and was set up by Ernaam Arnaut, who hand picked by Osama Bin Laden and dispatched to Florida where he set up shop all over the state.See: Florida Trail of Terror: http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/219

MIM: Masjid Al Ansar is still open for business and despite the closure of the BIF branch in Waterloo the group is still in operation often under different guises. Hundreds of thousands of dollars raised by the group in Canada are still unaccounted for.

"... Despite the fact that the US government froze the bank accounts of the Illinois-based Benevolence International Foundation, Kutty says BIF Canada has not been contacted by the RCMP or by Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). "I'm not aware of any investigation here," Kutty said, adding that the charity's bank account has not been frozen. Mosque in Florida got taxpayer funded equipment and personnel to help with Ramadan whistle blowers vilified as press plays into CAIR's hands.

For further information on the Hernando mosque story and documentation see:

The Council on American Islamic Relations wages Jihad against The First Amendment - attempts to oust Florida commissioner critical of taxpayer funding going to Wahhabist mosque tied to terrorism.

The Council on American Islamic Relations, CAIR a Saudi funded front group for Hamas and defendant in a 9/11 terrorism lawsuit, http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/394 has demanded that Florida governor Jeb Bush force Hernando City Commissioner Tom Hogan Jr. to resign, after Hogan's wife wrote a letter to a local paper protesting the use of taxpayer funding and resources to help with Ramadan celebrations at a mosque on Barclay Avenue in Hernando, Florida.

http://www.hernandotoday.com/MGBL059J0UE.html

The manufactured outrage over the Hogan's critique of Islam (reminiscent of the Koran hoax flush hysteria), and the orgy of ‘infidel bashing' which followed, eclipsed the real stories, namely that the group which called for the commission to resign, and the local mosque at the center of the dispute are part of the global terrorism network. http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/2518

Instead trying to censor the Hogans, the press and public should be loudly demanding why the only mosque in Hernando, which spreads Wahhabism and whose trustee and founder Imad Tarabishy, gave money to Al Qaeda and is the registered agent of a shell company for the terror funding front called the Afghanistan Information and Rehabilitation Bureau in Canada, was able granted any type of public resources and has not been shut down as a threat to Homeland Security.

1) The Mosque at 6307 Barclay Avenue in Hernando is owned by the North American Islamic Trust, a Wahhabist institution which propagates the implemention of shari'a law in the United States.

(Another local NAIT employee, who ran a mosque and the Islamic Academy elementary school in Tampa was Sami Al Arian, who is in jail awaiting deportation on terrorism charges-the school was also mentioned in his indictment). http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/691

2) One of the founders and prayer leaders of the mosque is Imad Tarabishy, who is also a board member and trustee of NAIT.

3) Imad Tarabishy is listed as a director of the Islamic Foundation of The Tampa Area, along with two based in Saudi Arabia.

4)According to testimony presented by The Investigative Project, at a government hearing, Imad Tarabishy has given $76,000 to Benevolence International Foundation (BIF) a group directly tied to Bin Laden and the Global Relief Foundation a subsidiary of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

4) Imad Tarabishy is also the registered agent in Florida for Bright International Ltd. a ‘Foreign Non profit'. He listed the address of his medical practice at 11339 Cortez Blvd. on the incorporation papers. (see documentation below).

BIL's director Assadullah Farahmand, heads ‘The Afghanistan Information and Rehabilitation Bureau (Masjid)' in Don Mills, Ontario Canada, which is connected to BIF and Al Qaeda. The Masjid is Masjid Al Ansar in Toronto.

5) A frequent visitor to the Masjid is Ahmed Kutty the father of Faisal Kutty the vice chair of CAIR Canada and the spokesman and lawyer for Benevolence International Foundation. In 2003 Ahmed Kutty was denied entrance into the United States after he flew from Canada to Orlando and called a security risk. He was carrying a business card for the Islamic Society of North America., an affiliate of NAIT, who owns the Hernando mosque. Imad Tarabishy, the registered agent of The Afghanistan Information and Rehabilition Bureau aka Al Ansar is also a board member of NAIT. In the same year Kutty was detained, the then head of the Islamic Society of North America, Syeed Sayid, visited the Hernando mosque to thank the members for funding the ISNA conference. The National Post reported that:

When reports about Benevolence first surfaced following the Sept. 11 attacks, Faisal Kutty, the spokesman for the Canadian branch, released a statement calling the allegations of a terrorist link "false rumours and innuendos."

But the Waterloo office closed its doors last June. On Nov. 19, 2002, the United States and Britain designated Benevolence a "financier of terrorism" and asked the United Nations to freeze its funds. Canada complied on Nov. 22, ordering banks to seize the group's assets.

Several officials associated with the charity are still active in other Canadian non-profit groups, such as the Muslim World League. The Canadian government has not determined what happened to hundreds of thousands of dollars collected by BIF-Canada.

The Canadian wing of Benevolence is being sued by hundreds of people who lost loved ones in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. They are alleging the group helped finance al-Qaeda and is therefore partly responsible for 9/11. http://siteinstitute.org/bin/articles.cgi?ID=inthenews2003&Category=inthenews&Subcategory=0

6)According to the McKenzie Institute report on terrorism in Canada

The Benevolence International Fund was active in raising funds in Canada (from its offices in Ottawa, Waterloo, and Mississauga, Ontario) to send to its representatives in war zones in Bosnia, Chechnya, the Kashmir, and to Israel, and the West Bank -- all areas where Muslim fundamentalists are active. The group claimed in October 2001 that it did not issue tax receipts. Alas, it was advertising that it could issue such on its website in 2002. In its Annual Return to Corporations Canada, it listed six governors, but only one was a Canadian resident (Mohamad Khatib), the rest were in Saudi Arabia, Bosnia, and the United States. One director, Enaam Arnaout (aka A. Mahmoud and A. Samia) was arrested in April 2002 and charged with perjury and supporting terrorists.

The Benevolence International Fund is one of the defendants in a $1 trillion lawsuit launched by the families of the dead from the 9-11 attack. Other defendants include the Islamic Relief Organization, the Muslim World League (MWL), International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), and the SAAR Foundation — all of which have a Canadian presence… The Muslim World League was funded by the Saudi Government since 1962 as a Wahhabist-related site for supporting both the Muslim community and missionary work elsewhere (including inside the Western World…

The MWL and the Saudi government are also associated with another Muslim charity, SAAR International, whose Canadian office (located in Quebec) was closed in 2001. American authorities began to investigate SAAR International following reports that the group's US branch had passed money to Palestinian Islamic Jihad… …the MWL placed itself at the centre of a number of Canadian organizations that declared their support and affiliation with it. These included• The Afghan Information and Rehab Bureau, Don Mills Ontario; http://www.mackenzieinstitute.com/2003/other_peoples_wars6.htm

Terrorism funder Dr. Imad Tarabishy, is an active member of the mosque which was at the center of Mary Ann's Hogan's objections to receiving taxpayer funding. She and her husband became the targets of ‘infidel bashing' by CAIR who appealed to Governor Jeb Bush, Charlie Christ and Jim Davis to insist on Hogan's resignation from his position. All three men showed their dhimmitude by joining in CAIR's condemnation at the Hogans comments.

http://www.sptimes.com/2006/11/01/Tampabay/Bush_blasts_couple_s_.shtml

Two more examples of CAIR's attempts to censor critics of Islam are the Reverend O'Neill Dozier who objected to the building of a mosque in an African American Catholic neighborhood.

CAIR vilification of Dozier was aided and betted by Governor Jeb Bush who made Dozier resign from his judicial nominating committee and Charlie Crist, who removed him from his campaign committee. http://www.cair-florida.org/ViewArticle.asp?Code=aa&ArticleID=661

http://www6.miami.edu/UMH/CDA/UMH_Main/1,1770,39370-1;50509-3,00.html

CAIR has also attempted censorship on the internet. CAIR Florida executive directorAhmed Bedier, attempted to censor and delete You Tube website comments which he deemed unacceptable.

Bedier accused the You Tube commentators of being ‘Islamophobes', and referred to one as "Mr.Pimp". Joe Kaufman preserved the edited pages on his Americans Against Hate website.(Ironically, a recent video on You Tube features Bedier ‘weighing in on free speech' where declared that the Danish cartoonists should make amends by sending a message that "they didn't intend to offend or provoke".http://americansagainsthate.blogspot.com/2006/10/is-cairs-ahmed-bedier-censoring.html

Beila Rabinowitz, the director of Militant Islam Monitor is calling upon Governor Jeb Bush, Charlie Crist, and Jim Davis, and the media to uphold the Hogan's right to free speech and show even handedness by reporting on the terror ties of their critics, The Council on American Islamic Relations, and those of the officials of the Barclay Avenue mosque, which received taxpayer funded assistance to hold their Ramadan events.

The citizens of Florida should demand that Jeb Bush, Charlie Crist and Jim Davis, stop backing CAIR's Jihad against the First Amendment. All three men, who sent letters to congratulate CAIR on their new Tampa office should now write to law enforcement and demand an investigation into the Wahhabist backers of CAIR and the Saudi connections to the only mosque in Hernando County.

The public has an obligation to find out why the Hernando County Parks Service gave public resources to a a Saudi funded mosque whose members have extensive ties to the global Jihad network, and why the Governor and local politians are parroting CAIR's calls for censorship instead of supporting the Hogan's right to free speech. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=22657

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

MIM: The registration for Bright International Ltd. Inc.appears to be a shell company for a Canada subsidiary of the Al Qaeda funding front Benevolence International Foundation which was closed down by the US Treasury Department. The registered agent for BIF in Sunrise Florida is Adham Hassoun, who is now in jail on terrororism charges and helped dirty bomber wannabe Jose Padilla go abroad for jihad training. Hassoun was picked by Ernaam Arnaut to set up BIF operations in Florida and Chicago . Arnaut was handpicked by Osama Bin Laden,and married a woman in Florida and lived with another wife in Chicago. He is now serving a jail sentence on charges of aiding and abetting Al Qaeda. Although the public perception is of doctors helping people and taking an oath to "do no harm" many terrorists are and were doctors. Al Qaeda's second in command Ayman Al Zawahari is a physician, and the assassinated Hamas leader Abdelaziz Rantisi was a pediatrician. In 2005 Rafiq Sabir, a physician who attended the Boca Raton Islamic Center and lived in a gated community, was jailed for swearing alliegance to Bin Laden,plans to set up a Jihad training camp in Long Island, and was about to fly to Saudi Arabia to treat wounded 'Mujahideen' fighters.

ORLANDO -- Muslim charities suspected of helping finance international terrorism received at least $1.9 million in the past five years from Florida donors, records show.

Tax returns for the Illinois groups, reviewed by the Orlando Sentinel, show the three U.S.-based Muslim charities are linked through donations...

Illinois records show Brooksville orthopedic surgeon Imad "Ed" Tarabishy was the most generous Florida benefactor of Global Relief and Benevolence in the past five years, giving at least $796,600.

More than a dozen other current and former physicians at Brooksville's Oak Hill Hospital, where Tarabishy is on staff, gave another $521,750.

That included $110,000 from Tarabishy's brother, a Florida-licensed surgeon who practices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In this Q&A on the Islamonline website Sheik Ahmad Kutty writes that he often prays at the Al Ansar mosque. The connection of Al Ansar to the mosque in Hernando County (nearest airport Orlando) could explain why Ahmad Kutty was taken off a plane bound from Canada to Orlando in 2003 and declared a security risk. According to this report Kutty was carrying a business card from the Islamic Society of North America-which has direct ties to the mosque in Hernando County on Barclay Street. According to the article:

"...Authorities, Kutty said, were especially interested in a business card that he carried in his wallet bearing the name Islamic Society of North America. He said immigration officials made him sign a waiver giving up his application to enter the United States.

Kutty also said he would not return to the United States and would caution others in the Canadian Muslim community against doing so.

MIM: Even more amusing is the feigned surprise expressed by Altaf Ali of CAIR's Florida office - whose organisation has close ties to the Hernando County mosque linked to the one frequented by the father of the CAIR Canada Vice Chairman Faisal Kutty which serves as a front for the Al Qaeda 'charity' Benevolence International and other terrorist groups.

"This is by far the most bizarre incident I have ever heard of or witnessed," said Altaf Ali, executive director of the Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, who visited Hamid in a Fort Lauderdale jail.

"

Local Muslims were outraged and the Council on American Islamic Relations immediately used one of their 'go to' journalist sympathisers to decry Kutty's treatment.

-----------------------

MIM :The Afghanistan Information and Rehabilition Bureau in Toronto registered to Imad Tarabishy of the mosque in Hernado is also known as Masjid Al Ansar. A frequent visitor to the terror linked Al Ansar mosque in Canada is the father of Imam Faisal Kutty. In 2003 Ahmed Kutty and cleric Abdool Hamid, were taken off a plane in Orlando by law enforcement officials after they arrived from Canada . Kutty was handcuffed , jailed, and refused entry to the United States on the grounds that he was a security risk. US authorities said they were 'especially interested' in the fact that Kutty was carrying a business card from the Islamic Society of North America ( the Saudi funded group which is connected to the Hernando County mosque(owned by it's affiliate NAIT- the North American Islamic Trust). The Hernando mosque also received a visit from ISNA's president Sayeed Sayid that year. Orlando airport is the closest airport to the Hernando County area and Kutty very likely planned to stop in there since he often prayed at the mosque in Canada which is registered to Imad Tarabishy, a trustee and founder of the Hernando Mosque who is also the registered agent and vice trustee director of a under a 'company' called Bright International whose Canadian address show it to be The Afghanistan Information and Rehabilitation Bureau, aka Masjid Al Ansar in Toronto. (Within hours of Kutty's detention by law enforcement CAIR, who is also closely tied to the Hernando County mosque, issued a press release with director Altaf Ali feigning surprise and ignorance of Kutty's ties to Tarabishy and the Hernando mosque i.e. Benevolence International Foundation and Al Qaeda. "This is by far the most bizarre incident I have ever seen or witnessed" Ali told the media. Even more unintentionally amusing then Ali's expression of bafflement as to the reasons behind Kutty's detention, was CAIR's stated reason for Kutty's visit to Florida: ‘To give a series of lectures and sermons on, among other things, the dangers of fanaticism in the Islamic world.' Once again the public perception generated by CAIR was accepted unchallenged, and was seen as the real story.

----------------------------------------

MIM: During this Q&A Ahmed Kutty (the father CAIR vice chair Faisal), told a questioner that he frequents the Al Ansar Mosque in Toronto.

"Inshallah, you can get in touch with me by phone- I often come to pray at Masjid Al Ansar."

http://www.islamonline.net/livefatwa/english/Browse.asp?hGuestID=m62pun

Name Manzar - Canada
Profession
Question As-salamu `alaikum Sheikh. For long I have a sincere desire to meet you in person but don't know how. If I am not mistaken, did I see you in Masjid Al-Ansar here in Toronto (Canada) in Tarawih?

I would highly appreciate and be grateful if I could have an opportunity to talk to you for few minutes in person. Could you please let me know how?

Today, I would ask you a simple question regarding the way the Tarawih prayer is performed at the Masjid Al-Ansar. As a Hana'fi, I used to pray 2 Rak`ahs Sunnah after `Isha' and then continue with Tarawih as it happens in other Mosques. But here they skip this Sunnah. So if I pray behind the Imam, can, or should I, skip this 2 Rak`ahs Sunnah.

Immediately after Tarawih, they pray Witr in yet another way, i.e., 2+1 with different du`a'. Could you please shed some light on this issue?

Answer Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In sha' Allah, you can get in touch with me by phone or in person; I often come to pray at Masjid al-Ansar.

Now coming to your question about the way they pray Tarawih at Masjid al-Ansar, you don't need to worry. The requirement of praying sunnah after `isha' is already fulfilled when you pray Tarawih, although ideally, it would have been better that there was a gap between `Isha' and Tarawih. But that is not such a major issue; since you are praying in Jama'ah and the Imam has chosen this way, you don't have to worry about it; you are already rewarded for your niyyah and your praying of Tarawih with the Imam will compensate for the sunnah of `Isha'.

Now coming to your question about praying Witr, it is also fine, since there are various ways of praying Witr. The way you are used to praying is one, and the way they are doing it at Al-Ansar mosque is another; both of these methods had been transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through his companions: The various Imams only passed on to us what they learned.

The proper way to deal with such differences is to follow the policy of the sahabah themselves: For we are told they used to pray behind each other although they differed from one another on such matters. So pray behind any Imam who may choose any of the valid options, for each one of them is a valid option.

In Witr, however, you also have another choice: You may simply choose to pray Tarawih with the Imam, and then leave with the intention of praying Witr by yourself at home.

Allah Almighty knows best.

MIM: Excerpt from the Mckenzie report on terrorism and terror funding fronts in Canada.

The first name on the list of groups cited is the Afghanistan Information and Rehabilitation Bureau.

MIM:This is the listing and map that appears on the Toronto Muslims website.

Name of the Organisation: Masjid Al Ansar
Nature of Organisation: Masjid/Islamic Centre
Address:
132 Railside Rd. Unit # 15

Fax: 416-391-0259

MIM: The McKenzie report on terrorism in Canada names the Afghanistan Information and Rehabilitation Bureau as one of several terror funding organisations with ties to Al Qaeda, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The PIJ tie is significant because of the close collaboration and financial support given by many Hernando County area Muslims to Sami Al Arian the "CEO" of PIJ in the United States which he ran out of nearby Tampa.

http://www.mackenzieinstitute.com/2003/other_peoples_wars6.htm

The dozens of suppressed charities include (among many others) the Aid Organization of the Ulrma, the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the Benevolence International Foundation, the Benevolence International Fund, the Global Relief Foundation, and many others. According to the UN Security Council and the US Treasury Department, these had been funneling money to Islamic terrorist groups in many areas.

In its literature, the Fund advertised itself as a good place for Muslims who wished to meet their Zakat obligations. However, in the Muslim community, where fundraising is informal, very few Canadian Muslims have heard of the organization.

Ideally, Zakat obligations and other Muslim charities are supposed to go to widows, orphans, and the poor. The Holy Land Foundation in the United States was ordered closed by the US Treasury Department because the widows and orphans it was helping out included the families of Fundamentalist suicide bombers. Other Muslim charities are also suspected of using their funds to aid the families of Fundamentalist combatants, or of attracting refugees to places where they can be exposed to Fundamentalist indoctrination. An Ottawa gas station attendant and pizza delivery man, Mohamed Harkat, who is accused by CSIS of being a member of the GIA and al Qaeda, spent five years working in Pakistan as a relief worker before coming to Canada. He is thought to have been using his activities as a cover for Islamic Fundamentalist work in association with key members of al Qaeda.

The Benevolence International Fund is one of the defendants in a $1 trillion lawsuit launched by the families of the dead from the 9-11 attack. Other defendants include the Islamic Relief Organization, the Muslim World League (MWL), International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), and the SAAR Foundation — all of which have a Canadian presence. The Muslim World League was funded by the Saudi Government since 1962 as a Wahhabist-related site for supporting both the Muslim community and missionary work elsewhere (including inside the Western World). The IIRO was a charitable organization with appropriate tax status in many countries, and is an arm of the MWL. Members of the MWL have aided and abetted the travels of al Qaeda members as recently as 2000, and helped to establish the organization in the first place. The MWL and IIRO had offices in Ottawa, but these have been closed in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks.

The MWL and the Saudi government are also associated with another Muslim charity, SAAR International, whose Canadian office (located in Quebec) was closed in 2001. American authorities began to investigate SAAR International following reports that the group's US branch had passed money to Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Like the Tiger Front Groups described in Chapter Three, the MWL placed itself at the centre of a number of Canadian organizations that declared their support and affiliation with it. These included:

The Afghan Information and Rehab Bureau, Don Mills Ontario;

•Al Rashid Islamic Institute, Cornwall, Ontario;

•The Al Rashid Mosque, Edmonton, Alberta;

•The Albanian Muslim Society, Toronto, Ontario;

•Bader Islamic Association, Toronto, Ontario;

•Bosnian Community Mosque, Etobicoke, Ontario;

•Cambridge Islamic Centre, Cambridge, Ontario;

•Cambridge Muslim Society, Cambridge, Ontario;

•Croatian Islamic Association (and Bosnia Hercegovina Relief Fund), Etobicoke, Ontario;

•Halton Islamic Association, Burlington, Ontario;

•Hira' Arab Cultural Society, Calgary, Alberta;

•Imdadul Islam Centre, North York, Ontario;

•International Institute of Islamic Thought, no contact information;

•Islamic Association of Saskatchewan (Chapters in Saskatoon and Regina);

•Islamic Centre of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta;

•Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec, Ste Foy, Quebec;

•Islamic Education Society of BC, Surrey, BC;

•Islamic Information Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia;

•Islamic Society of Niagara, Niagara Falls, Ontario;

•Muslim Association of New Brunswick, Saint John, NB;

•Muslim Community of Edmonton, Edmonton, Alberta;

•Scarborough Muslim Association, Scarborough, Ontario;

•Turkish Canadian Islamic Heritage Association (and Canadian Turkish Islamic Trust Inc.), Toronto, Ontario;

•United Canadian Muslim Association of Ontario, Toronto;

•Windsor Islamic Association, Windsor, Ontario.

There are dozens of other groups in Canada associated with the MWL — often sharing the same addresses and phone numbers. Affiliation with the Muslim World League is certainly not a ‘smoking gun' proving that the group endorses terrorism or supports al Qaeda. However, the linkage does imply sympathy with Wahhabi Islam — an intolerant variation of the Muslim faith — and perhaps a greater willingness to sympathize with al Qaeda than other Muslims do. In the aftermath of September 11th and the trillion dollar law suit directed against the Muslim World League, some of these groups have dropped their links with the group.

Charity funded jihad fighters By Stewart Bell
Published in: National Post February 11, 2003

Founder of Canadian branch of Benevolence International diverted money intended for orphans: Guilty plea in U.S. court

In an agreement with U.S. federal prosecutors, Enaam Arnaout, a 41-year-old Syrian associated with Osama bin Laden, entered a guilty plea to racketeering charges but did not admit to any ties to al-Qaeda.

The plea came as the court in Chicago was preparing to select a jury for Arnaout's trial on seven counts alleging he used his charity, Benevolence International Foundation, to finance Islamic terror campaigns.

Six of the counts were dropped in exchange for the plea. He is facing a possible 20-year sentence but federal prosecutors said his jail term might be significantly reduced if he co-operates with investigators.

"This is the first time the government has brought criminal charges against a director of a U.S.-based charity connected to terrorism," said Rita Katz, director of the SITE Institute, a Washington, D.C., The founder of a Canadian charity shut by Ottawa for financing terrorism pleaded guilty in the United States yesterday to diverting donations meant for widows and orphans to Islamic fighters in Chechnya and Bosnia.

"The results indicate that it is easier to charge an individual with racketeering or money laundering than with material support to a terrorist organization," said Ms. Katz, part of a legal team suing the charity on behalf of the victims of Sept. 11.

The case of Benevolence International showed how some Islamic aid agencies in such countries as Canada have secretly supported violent Muslim jihads, or holy wars, around the world by illegally redirecting their donors' money.

Benevolence International is based in Illinois but had branch offices in several countries, including Canada. The Canadian branch began operating in 1992, with offices in Mississauga and later Waterloo. The organization raised money from Canadian mosques and Muslim student groups.

While Arnaout claimed to be running a humanitarian aid organization, U.S. authorities said he was funding bands of Muslim fighters carrying out what they see as their religious duty to wage holy war. In March, authorities searched Arnaout's office in Bosnia and found documents linking him to bin Laden. He was arrested the following month.

"Various documents also established that Arnaout worked with others -- including members of al-Qaeda -- to purchase rockets, mortars, rifles and offensive and defensive bombs, and to distribute them to various mujahedeen camps, including camps operated by al-Qaeda," the U.S. Treasury Department said.

Prosecutors established a link between Benevolence and al-Qaeda operative Mamdouh Mahmud Salim, who tried to obtain chemical weapons and nuclear components for bin Laden. The organization was also tied to Mohamed Loay Bayazid, who tried to obtain weapons components for bin Laden in 1993 and 1994.

In addition, Benevolence International was connected to Ahmed Khadr, a Canadian Muslim extremist in the bin Laden empire whose three sons, Abdullah, Abdul Rahman and Omar, are trained al-Qaeda fighters.

MIM: On an unintentionally amusing note -terror funder/facilitator and CAIR Canada vice chair Faisal Kutty addressed students at York University and informed students that "Islam is not a bomb and 8 wives" .Kutty, whose group funds suicide bombers, is certainly the best source to explain that radical Islam is not a bomb but a suicide bomber, who has 4 wives not 8, and is aspiring to have 72 virgins instead.

MIM: An example of the type 'Infidel bashing'CAIR press releases aimed at whipping up a media frenzy against the Hogans . Had the media scrutinized the mosque in question, they would have realised that the trustee and founder Imad Tarabishy, was tied directly to international terror funding via Bright International aks Benevolence International Foundation and that the vice chair of CAIR Canada, Faisal Kutty was a BIF official.

In a letter to Gov. Jeb Bush, CAIR-TAMPA's Executive Director Ahmed Bedier wrote:

[Our organization finds the Hogans' comments deeply disturbing. Certainly, the comments are bigoted. We call upon you and other elected officials to repudiate the ignorant anti-Muslim comments made by Mr. and Mrs. Hogan.

We also call upon you as the chief executive in the State of Florida and head of the GOP in the state to send a strong message to the public that such hate and bigotry have no place in our society by removing Mr. Hogan from the Hernando County Commission. We believe that his bias is not representative of the values held dear in Florida and America.]

Bedier said that his group is also calling upon the Hernando County Commission to vote to censure Commissioner Tom Hogan at their next commission meeting.

CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 32 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

Hogan added: "Even if they have gotten citizenship, they are not true Americans in my opinion. They all want to kill us."

URGE FL ATTORNEY GENERAL TO RESCIND APPOINTMENT OF ISLAM-BASHER

(MIAMI, FL, 9/22/2006) - The Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) today called on that state's attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist to rescind his appointment of a man who claims Islam is 'evil' to a campaign policy council.

SEE: Policy Councils: http://www.charliecrist.com/policyCouncils.asp

The deputy press secretary of the Crist campaign told CAIR-FL that Rev. O'Neal Dozier will not be removed from the 'Strengthening Florida's Families' council despite his rhetorical attacks on Muslims and Islam. Dozier has openly opposed the building of a mosque in Pompano Beach and has repeatedly called Islam a 'cult' that 'teaches evil and hatred.'

After Dozier made public statements attacking Islam, Governor Jeb Bush removed him from the Seventeenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

'Florida Muslims and other people of conscience call on Charlie Crist to repudiate Dozier's anti-Muslim hatred and to rescind his appointment to the policy council,' said CAIR-FL Executive Director Altaf Ali. 'Crist's refusal to act on this important issue sends the message that a public official and candidate for governor endorses Dozier's religious bigotry and intolerance.'
