December 23, 2005 - Philadelphia, PA - PipeLineNews.org - In a legal decision sure to assume landmark status, U.S. District Judge William Skretny refused to halt U.S. Border Patrol agents from stopping, extensively questioning and photographing American Muslims who were returning to this country from a radical Islamist confab in Toronto, Canada.

The other major loser in this case is the New York branch of the ACLU whose pro-forma "infringement of civil rights" argument against the search procedure, was found wanting by Judge Skretny and rejected.

Those stopped and questioned at the border were returning from the "Reviving The Islamic Spirit" - conference which featured a roster of speakers so troubling that it could not have been held in the United States because of security concerns.

The Judge explained he was allowing the searches to continue because the Border Patrol:

"...had reason to believe that these conferences would serve as meeting points for terrorists to exchange ideas and documents, coordinate operations, and raise funds intended for terrorist activities" that in effect the event would allow potential enemies to "use the conference as cover."

Prominent speakers at the conference were:

  • "Hamza Yusuf" Hanson - a Muslim convert who own a Da'wa enterprise called Alhambra Production which specializes in producing recordings of Islamists such as Imam Zaid Shakir, Shaykh Abdallah bin Bayyah, and Sh. Mohammad Yaqoubi all of whom attented the "Islamic Spirit" conference.

Yusuf's website - Alhambra Productions is a showcase of extremist Muslim thought.

Explaining why Mr. Yusuf's enterprise was named "Alhambra Productions."

"The Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, was the last fortress of Western European Islam. In 1492, the fortress fell to Christian invaders...After signing the treaty, the Christians went on to break every promise made and initiated the most horrifying institution in religious history."

This of course begs the question as to why "peaceful" disciples of Islam found themselves in the farthest reaching outposts of central - Christian - Europe well into the 15th century.

  • Abdullah Bin Bayyah is the leading cleric in Mauretania, he is a favored source of spiritual guidance on the jihad website Sunni forum.
  • Tariq Al Suiwedan is a Kuwaiti cleric who was banned from entering the United States. At a "Young Muslims Conference" in 2000 Suweidan stated:

"...even if a civilization is ready to crumble (such as the West, with all the characteristics of deterioration of past fallen empires), it will NOT fall until we, the Muslims, strive to give it that last push, the last straw that will break the camel's back."
  • Tariq Ramadan is a radical Islamist scholar with ties to al-Qaeda.

Ramadan's family were the founders of the Muslim Brotherhood. Ramadan has been banned from entering the United States [unbelievably having been offered a professorship at Notre Dame University] on the grounds that he was a threat to national security.

  • Ingrid Mattson is vice president of the Islamic Society of North America, a juggernaut of Wahhabismm, which Mattson has compared to Protestanism. When asked why she failed to condemn suicide bombings, she replied that they had simply, "not crossed my mind as a priority among the many issues I felt needed to be addressed."
  • Shaykh Riyadh Ul Haq was born in India. He runs the Shariah Institute Center in the U. K. and is the Imam of Leicester . One of his tapes which is found on the Invitation to Islam website run by an Yahya Ibrahim - who was just recently banned from entering the U.S. - is entitled, "Signs of the last days and the Taliban."
  • Is it any wonder why those attempting to return to the United States after attending such a consortium of Islamic radicalism should be given extra scrutiny at our borders?
