Terreur Aanslagen in Europa Door Radicale Moslims [Terror Attacks in Europe by Radical Muslims]. By Emerson Vermaat. Soesterberg, The Netherlands: Aspekt Publishing, 2017. 247 pp. 19.95.

Dutch investigative journalist Vermaat, an expert on Muslim migration, was ahead of the curve with his 2004 book Misdaad Migration en Cultuur (Crime Migration and Culture) where he warned of the dangers posed by mass Muslim migration into Europe.

In this book Vermaat meticulously and in detail chronicles jihadist attacks in Europe from the 2004 train bombings in Madrid to the 2016 attack on the Christmas market in Berlin.

He analyzes the psychological repercussions of Theo Van Gogh's 2004 murder in Amsterdam. He believes the shock and fear it generated in Dutch society "seriously destabilized the constitutional structure of The Netherlands."

Vermaat also dissects the Paris attack on the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo in which twelve people were murdered and the subsequent assault on the Hyper Cacher kosher supermarket in Paris where four Jewish hostages were murdered. Terreur Aanslagen in Europa provides invaluable insights into how perpetrators were radicalized, how plans unfolded, and the effect of these attacks on free speech, civil society, and democracy. Vermaat warns that "the conflicts in the Islamic world are being increasingly imported into Europe," that the threat posed by Muslim migration has already altered European cultural and societal norms, and that it is changing the trajectory of Western civilization.
