Paris police are checking suspicions that a 27-year-old Muslim murdered his Jewish neighbor, Sarah Lucy Halimi, following a confrontation in her apartment.

According to a report in Yediot Aharonot, 66-year-old Halimi was attacked by the terrorist as she slept in her bed. He stabbed her and pushed her from her third-story apartment to her death while shouting "Allahu Akbar."

Halimi is to be laid to rest today, Thursday, at 11:30 at the Har Hamenuhot cemetery in Jerusalem. Her family asked that the public come and pay final respects.

Halimi was found lifeless on Monday night outside her apartment in Paris. Neighbors told police that, at a late hour of the night, the terrorist ascended to the third floor of the apartment complex, yelled "Allahu Akbar" and acted wildly before pushing Halimi to her death.

During the police investigation, the terrorist asserted that the Koran had commanded him to murder her. He was sent for psychiatric evaluations.

Halimi's family says the incident was a terror attack and blames police for trying to silence the murder for political reasons related to elections in France.

Sarah Lucy Halimi leaves behind a son who lives in Israel and two daughters who live in France. Her body was flown last night from Paris to Israel and is to be brought today for burial in Jerusalem.

'Sarah Halimi's murderer is not insane'

French Jewish leader calls on police to treat Halimi's death as a murder - and not an act of insanity.

Guy Cohen, ד' באייר תשע"ז, 4/30/2017

Jewish leaders in France demanded that police relate to the murder of Jewish woman Sarah Halimi at the hands of her Arab neighbor as murder - and not as the act of an insane and unstable person.

Halimi, 66, was cruelly murdered at the beginning of April after she was attacked by a terrorist while she was sleeping in her apartment. He stabbed her and then threw her from the third story to her death.

Yoel Margi, who heads "Consistoire," which provides religious services to Jews in France, emphasized the fact that the suspect had shouted "Allahu Akbar" before pushing Halimi out of the window. "I refuse to accept the easy excuse of insanity for a murderer who tried to make the incident look like a suicide, before eyewitnesses powerless to act," he said.

Halimi was found lifeless outside her apartment in Paris. Neighbors told police that, at a late hour of the night, the terrorist ascended to the third floor of the apartment complex, yelled "Allahu Akbar" and acted wildly before pushing Halimi to her death.

Jewish woman found dead outside her Paris home

Man arrested on suspicion of murdering Jewish neighbor in Paris.

JTA, ט' בניסן תשע"ז, 4/5/2017

Police in Paris arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the death of his neighbor, a Jewish woman whose lifeless body was found outside their apartment building.

Sarah Halimi, 66, died Monday night. Police have not said whether they have a theory as to what led to her death or whether she was pushed from her window on Vaucouleurs Street in the crime-ridden 11th district of the French capital, according to a report Wednesday by the Actualite Juive weekly.

The National Bureau for Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism watchdog, however, believes it may have been premeditated murder possibly aggravated by racial hatred, the watchdog's president, Sammy Ghozlan, told JTA on Wednesday.

Ghozlan, a retired police commissioner, said relatives of Halimi said that she had previously experienced anti-Semitic harassment by a relative of the man under arrest.

"This tragedy may have been the result of a random violent crime by a thug, or maybe there was a background of racial hatred here, or hateful ideology at this point it's not known yet," Ghozlan said.

Halimi's family wants to have her buried in Jerusalem. The body will undergo an autopsy
