Jew Hating Islamist Group - Boycott, Divestment And Sanctions - Defeated In Important New York Case

May 17, 2015

May 14, 2015 San Francisco, CA PipeLineNews.org An initiative by the pro-jihadist group, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions again Israel [BDS], directed against the New York entity, GreenStar Food Co-op, suffered a major defeat last night due to an aggressive push-back by the LawFare Project.

The LawFare Project is a civil litigation organization dedicated to eliminating "the use of the law as a weapon of war" and/or "the abuse of Western laws and judicial systems to achieve strategic military or political ends." [source, LawFare Project]

A press release issued by the group states that a, "national effort to push a referendum calling to boycott Israeli products was rejected on Tuesday night, signaling a critical victory for the campaign to counter the discriminatory and unlawful Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement (BDS) in the United States. This attempt to discriminate against Israeli entities was rejected unanimously by the GreenStar Food Co-Op in Ithaca, New York."

Despite statements to the contrary, BDS' basic motivation is Jew-hatred. It has, as seems to increasingly be the case with Islamist organizations, closely allied itself with the Marxist left and is supported by the likes of former Black Panther Party memberAngela Davis and Code Pink's Castro loving Medea Benjamin.

BDS's strong arm tactics were stopped cold when the Lawfare Project made Green-Star Foods' legal counsel aware that supporting such a boycott could prove risky legally, as New York anti-discrimination law states:

"It shall be an unlawful discriminatory practice (i) for any person to discriminate against, boycott or blacklist, or to refuse to buy from, sell to or trade with, any person,[1] because of the race, creed, color, national origin [emphasis added] or sex of such person, or of such person's partners, members, stockholders, directors, officers, managers, superintendents, agents, employees, business associates, suppliers or customers, or (ii) for any person willfully to do any act or refrain from doing any act which enables any such person to take such action."

The importance of this victory over bigotry is significant in that similar tactics can now be employed against BDS' national campaign having proven highly successful in the instant case.
