Iranian President - Obama Accepts A Nuclear Iran

December 17, 2013

December 16, 2013 – San Francisco, CA – PipeLineNews.org - In comments made today, Iran's president, Hassan Rouhani suggested that Team Obama is resigned to the prospect of a nuclear Iran.

"Today, we are a country which has reached a point in the field of nuclear technology and uranium enrichment that the US president frankly says that taking the nuclear technology from the Iranian people is impossible…We started a technology, made stage-by-stage progress, reached some peaks and indigenized it in a way that separating the technology from this great nation is impossible, and this is a big honor for our country…" [source, Fars News].

Rouhani's statement was merely reflective of the thinking within the Obama WH, which is understandable since the president as much as made the case for the Iranian bomb in a speech given last weekend at Brookings' Saban Center.

In the below excerpt from Obama's remarks it's clear that he has already reconciled himself to a nuclear Iran.

"…Now, you'll hear arguments, including potentially from the Prime Minister, that say we can't accept any enrichment on Iranian soil. Period. Full stop. End of conversation. And this takes me back to the point I made earlier. One can envision an ideal world in which Iran said, we'll destroy every element and facility and you name it, it's all gone…I mean, there are a lot of things that I can envision that would be wonderful. But precisely because we don't trust the nature of the Iranian regime, I think that we have to be more realistic and ask ourselves, what puts us in a strong position to assure ourselves that Iran is not having a nuclear weapon and that we are protected? What is required to accomplish that, and how does that compare to other options that we might take?..." [source, Brookings Institute]

Mr. Obama's logic here is tortured, he is saying that because we can't trust the Iranians we have to negotiate with them and then trust them to comply with the strictures laid out in whatever agreements flow from such negotiations.

If this actually makes sense to the president then you should be afraid, very afraid because it means that he will do nothing to stop Iran's march towards possession of deliverable nuclear weapons and he will stand by as the Middle East becomes totally destabilized and caught up in a nuclear arms race which will predictably end in disaster.
