Egyptian Terrorist Becomes Governor
A former member of a terrorist organisation which perpetrated an attack by a temple in Luxor in 1997 where by 58 foreigners were killed, was named Monday as governor of this region.
The Egyptian president Mohamed Mursi appointed Adel Mohamed al-Khayat. This to the fury of people who work in the tourist industry. They say they dont want a terrorist as governor.
In November 1997 a group of terrorist attacks a group of Western tourists who had just arrived at the temple of Hatsjepsoet. The terrorists were part of the terror movement al-Gamaa al- Islamiya. Al- Kayat was then the leader of the organisation in a different province.
Mursi, who is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood also appointed sixteen others as governor. Many of them are Islamists.

Een voormalig lid van een terroristische organisatie die in 1997 een aanslag pleegde bij een tempel in Luxor, waarbij 58 buitenlanders omkwamen, is maandag benoemd tot gouverneur van deze regio.
De Egyptische president Mohamed Mursi benoemde Adel Mohamed al-Khayat. Dit tot woede van mensen die in de toeristenindustrie werkzaam zijn. Ze zeiden geen terrorist als gouverneur te willen.
In november 1997 viel een groep terroristen bij de tempel van Hatsjepsoet een groep westerse toeristen aan die net was gearriveerd. De terroristen maakten deel uit van de terreurbeweging al-Gamaa al-Islamiya. Al-Khayat was toen leider van die organisatie in een andere provincie.
Mursi, die lid is van de Moslim Broederschap, benoemde ook zestien anderen tot gouverneur. Veel van hen zijn islamisten.
