Is Team Obama Secretly Negotiating With Iran In Ploy To Influence Election?

October 15, 2012

By WILLIAM MAYER

October 15, 2012 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Rapidly falling in public opinion polling after a disastrous first debate and now upon serious allegations of malfeasance and a cover-up in the Benghazi Embassy tragedy, rumors are floating about that Team Obama is working on the "mother" of all October/November surprises, one of unprecedented dimensions.

But first a bit of background for perspective for what follows:

As summer approached, the Obama administration found itself being sandbagged by the Iranians - again - pursuing pointless multilateral "negotiations," partnering with Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia [with the U.S., called the P5+1] in a vain effort to halt the country's well advanced nuclear program.

Of note, China and Russia have been particularly unhelpful in reining in the Iranians, blocking key UN votes and dealing directly with them providing both missile and nuclear technology and engineering support. It's difficult to imagine what positive contribution these two rogue powers would make to such an effort.

Predictably the process ended in failure, breaking down after Iran publicly humiliated the U.S. team, chastising the P5+1 proposal as unacceptable and insisting that the country would always consider its program of enrichment to be an "inalienable right."

Sitting across a table and exchanging diplomatic pabulum has never proven to be an effective formula for even slowing down Grand Ayatollah, Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei's fanatical pursuit of an Iranian bomb. The country's leadership has on numerous occasions promised to destroy the state of Israel, while threatening its other "enemies" including the "Great Satan," the United States. The only weapon capable of backing up such a threat would be one or more nuclear weapons.

What the talks did accomplish were twofold.

One, it allowed the administration to present the president as fully engaged on the issue, while in reality he was dealing with problem simply in the context of his reelection bid.

Two, these pretend negotiations allowed Tehran a little breathing time as it streaks towards development of these weapons of maximum destruction. If Mr. Obama really expected this process to yield results then his national security team is even more feckless than it currently appears, a difficult task.

In much the same vein, at the beginning of the year Team Obama had actually entered into preliminary talks in Qatar with Afghanistan's Taliban. It might be difficult to fathom sitting down with those who had harbored bin-Laden and which the administration had been insisting was the only real enemy.

Never mind that the Taliban were at the same time continuing to kill U.S. troops in the field. And by all means, please ignore the basic premise that in dealing with these barbarians, Team Obama was bestowing on them a form of undeserved legitimacy. At the same time he sent a chilling message to our "allies," the Karzai government. His message? The United States was entirely willing to abandon them in Obama's haste to extricate the U.S. from the country, again with an eye on the presidential election.

Perhaps the most callous aspect of this typical administration foreign policy debacle, is that the President of the United States, the CIC, appeared to be quite eager to render [either by negotiation with the enemy on their terms or simply by a hasty retreat, ala Iraq] all U.S. service related deaths and casualties [over 2,000 dead as of September and at least 17,000 seriously wounded] in Afghanistan, to have been in vain. Lastly, such a sellout would absolutely turn the Afghanis [especially their women] over to the tender mercies of the Taliban and its brutal 10th century iteration of Shari'a.

The point to draw from this is that this administration appears willing to do or say anything to stay in power, regardless of its long term effect on American security.

In our effort to comprehend what is really going on in Iran we have relied upon Reza Kahlili and he has proved highly reliable.

He is a former member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and now resides in the United States and writes under the pseudonym, Reza Kahlili. Currently he serves as a senior fellow with EMPact America and teaches at the U.S. Department of Defense's Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy. For further background regarding Mr. Kahlili see our in-depth interview here Iranian Defector Reza Kahlili - Iran Runs "Large Network" Through U.S. Mosques And Islamic Organizations.

He is the author of A Time to Betray a book about his double life as a CIA agent in Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

We posed the following to Mr. Kahlili asking if he had anything to offer by way of response.

PipeLineNews.org: "We have heard rumors that the Obama administration is desperate to aid his failing reelection effort with some kind of foreign policy "triumph" in the face of the Benghazi disaster. Iran seems to be a likely candidate since Romney has been hammering the administration over its handling of this issue.

Given that we know that Team Obama has engaged in all manner of subterfuge, including negotiating with the Taliban in Qatar, to essentially hand Afghanistan over to the Islamist enemy, there seems to be no impediment, from their viewpoint, in doing the same with the Mullocracy. Foremost in the minds of most national security professionals is how far along Iran is from being able to construct a nuclear weapon and a suitable delivery system, which as you know could be far from crude given the sophistication of whatever the Iranian nuclear program. Most of the press gets devoted to the issue of enrichment which is obviously important but there are ancillary considerations also.

What are you hearing and what is the level of reliability?"

Mr. Kahlili responds with the alarming conjecture that the Obama administration may already be well underway negotiating a pretend agreement with Iran simply for political considerations, intending to turn the tide against what seems to be the rapidly ascendant Romney/Ryan ticket and knowing that the third debate will be devoted to foreign policy.

"When President Obama took office, Iran had barely enough enriched uranium for one nuclear bomb, now they have enough for six should they decide to enrich further. When President Obama took office, the Iranians were limited to enrichment to 3.% percent now they are enriching to 20 percent which is a major milestone to weaponization as it will take only several weeks to further enrich the 20 percent stock to weaponization grade over 90 percent.

When he took office, Iran was enriching uranium out of one facility "Natanz" today they are enriching uranium out of two, including the previously secret site "Fordow" deep in the mountain and immune to airstrikes. Since President Obama has taken office, Iran has also made great strides with its missile program now capable in reaching European capitals with missiles capable of carrying a nuclear warhead while at the same time working on intercontinental ballistic missiles.

While the Obama administration has been engaged in negotiations, Iran with the help of Russia, North Korea and China has been busy racing to the point of no return.

From the beginning of the Obama presidency it has been understood by the Islamic regime in Iran that America will accept a nuclear armed Iran and that it will rely on MAD as oppose to confront Iran before becoming nuclear armed.

Not understanding the consequences of a nuclear armed fanatic regime in Iran posing a serious threat to flow of oil out of the Strait of Hormuz where over 20 percent of world's energy supply feeds through the and a region where over 40 percent of world's energy reserves relies, will have devastating consequences for global economy and world peace and it will only come back to hunt us for decades to come where stagflation would only cause for greater wars!

This is while the radicals ruling Iran are engaged in back channel negotiations with the Obama administration to gain much concession requesting America to accept its right to nuclear energy and a continuation of enrichment, removal of sanctions in return for a stop, though temporary, with its 20 percent enrichment but only if the West provides the same high enriched stock to them.

However, the Islamic regime at the same time is continues to work on the trigger for the nuclear bomb and enrichment to weaponization at other secret sites. The team of Iranian nuclear scientists under the leadership of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh - Mahabadi (the father of Iranian nuclear bomb project) continue to make progress with the design in building the nuclear bomb.

According to sources in Iran, the revolutionary guards under a state of red alert, ready for war. Many missiles have been armed with chemical and biological warheads pointed at Israel with many ballistic missiles pointed at US bases in the region, Saudi Arabia and even Turkey in case either Syria or Iran come under attack.

Though the regime in Iran is somewhat assured with its analysis that US under the Obama administration will not attack, it's not so sure about Israel and in order to prevent that, it has its proxies such as Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad ready for a possible limited confrontation in the region where it would re shift focus from Syria and Iran and further incite Muslims and create enough instability where the thought of war against Iran would become mute.

However one thing is for sure as America and the West in fear of war are signaling weakness to the Islamic regime in Iran, the radicals are more emboldened to race to finish line and obtain the bomb which they believe will make them invincible and that is when the geopolitics of the region and the world will change for a long time to come and uncertainty will rule the day!"

So there you have it.

We have seen Barack Obama operate what is in essence a criminal administration, defying Congress, ruling by executive edict, using its Justice Department as a hammer against his opponents, engaging in schemes designed to curb Constitutional Rights, nationalize a large part of the American automobile industry, in the process destroying these company's bondholders while awarding the entities themselves to the United Auto Workers Union.

Is it so hard to believe that this administration might very well already be far down the path of the above outlined plan?
