Militants in Egyptian Jails Freed by Armed Gangs

January 30 2011- Militant Islam Monitor-Hundreds of militants and thousands of other prisoners were freed in raids by armed gangs on four prisons in Egypt. Gun battles took place with the guards resulting in the release of hundreds of militants who fled the jails after also clashing with the guards and starting fires.
The AP reports that total chaos has gripped the capitol and some cities which appear to have little or no police presence. The absence of police has not been explained.
According to Israel National News at least two Hamas terrorists who escaped from an Egyptian jail near Cairo have made their way back to Gaza and six others are on their way. Israel is tightening its security along the border with Egypt. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/142033
