MIM: A huge controversy has erupted in Holland after a Dutch woman who was attacked by two young Muslim Morrocans purse snatchers on a scooter, put her car in reverse and killed one who became pinned between her car and a tree.

The Moroccans are up in arms playing the victim while the Dutch are seeing themselves as increasingly under siege.

19 year old Moroccan Muslim Al el Bejjati fits the profile of a budding Moroccan career criminal as well as the statistics showing that criminality of young Moroccans is the highest of all national groups in Holland. Bejatti had already been arrested for purse snatching at age 17 and in the week of his death had a court date pending regarding armed robbery, charges for which he had spent four months in jail.

True to form, the Muslim community portrayed themselves as victims. Bejjati was defended by a friend as the epitiome of innocence : "someone who had just stolen, like anyone else, after all who hasnt taken an apple from the grocer's?".(see video).

The press appeared to play down the fact that Muslim youth had rioted in a shopping center in Utrecht on the evening of the incident. In response to journalist's insinuating that Bejjati might have played a role, if not deserved what happened to him, the Muslims responded with this disingenuous comparision; "Theo van Gogh deserved being murdered because he insulted Muslims".

The expressions of agressiveness and hostility by Moroccan Muslims towards the press and Dutch society in the wake of Bejattis death, combined with their refusal to acknowledge that Bejjati was guility or in any way responsible for what happened to him, (insisting that he was an innocent victim of anti Muslim media discrimination), was seen as the Dutch as glaring proof that the gap between the Dutch and Moroccan mentalities were not only unbridgeable, but becoming more toxic and life threatening with the day.

The family of Al el Bejjati, de youth of was fatally run over by his victim in Amsterdam East ,insists that he was a nice boy and not a purse snatcher. Even though his criminal past has become known to everyone, the family keeps denying it.

It is a Moroccan phenomenon say the experts. "If you don't see it, then it doesn't exist". This is a Moroccan cultural trait. According to Neils Duits of the Forensic Pyschiatric Service.

Duits: "Our practical experience with the Moroccans shows that there is often psychological denial.We often gets the parents of delinquents who tell us what a nice boy he is at home."

The friends of Ali also emphasize what a good boy he was.

"He wasn't a youth who hung out. He was in school and had two jobs.Ali was busy working on his future, they told this paper on Wednesday .

Duits illustrates this with an anecdote which a friend brought back from Morocco years ago. If you are at someone's home and the whiskey is sitting in a lemonade bottle , then it is not regarded as whiskey.

The fact that Ali had been arrested and charged with purse snatching in AmsterdamEast has no meaning for his family. As for the fact that he was in pre arrest for four months due to armed robbery, for which he was supposed to appear in court this week, they continue to say that he was only a suspect and that he would certainly have been aquitted after two weeks,

The family of Driss Arbib, who who was shot dead in 2003 on the Mercatorplein,had the same reaction. The story that Driss walked out of a snackbar after a fight to get knife and simply isn't true. The witnesses who said he pointed the knife at a policeman when he ran back into the snackbar must have twisted the truth.

"Driss what not a kid to do such a thing ". Said his brother.

De familie van Ali el Bejjati, de jongen die maandag in Amsterdam-Oost door zijn slachtoffer werd doodgereden, houdt vol dat hij een lieve jongen was en geen tasjesdief. Ook al is zijn criminele verleden inmiddels bij iedereen bekend, de familie blijft die ontkennen.

Het is een Marokkaans fenomeen, zeggen deskundigen. "Als je iets niet ziet, dan is het er ook niet. Dat is een cultureel-Marokkaans gegeven," aldus Niels Duits van de Forensisch Psychiatrische Dienst.

Duits: "Onze praktijkervaring is dat er bij Marokkanen vaak sprake is van psychologische ontkenning. Wij krijgen van ouders van delinquenten vaak te horen dat hij thuis zo'n aardige jongen is."

Ook vrienden van Ali blijven benadrukken dat het 'een goede jongen' was. "Hij was echt geen hangjongere. Hij zat op school en had twee bijbaantjes. Ali was met zijn toekomst bezig," zeiden ze woensdag in deze krant.

Duits illustreert het met een anekdote die een vriend jaren geleden meenam uit Marokko: "Als daar de whisky in een limonadefles zit, is het ook geen whisky."

Dat Ali in 2000 ook al opgepakt en veroordeeld werd voor een tasjesroof in Oost, doet voor zijn vrienden en familie niet terzake. Over het feit dat hij al vier maanden in voorarrest zat voor een gewapende overval, waarvoor hij begin deze week opnieuw moest voorkomen, wordt alleen gezegd dat hij nog steeds alleen verdachte was en zeker over twee weken zou zijn vrijgesproken.

De familie van Driss Arbib, die in 2003 op het Mercatorplein werd doodgeschoten, had dezelfde reactie. Het verhaal dat Driss van een ruzie in een eettentje was weggelopen om een mes te halen, kon gewoon niet waar zijn. De getuigen die zeiden dat Driss een mes op de agent had gericht, toen die het restaurantje in rende, moesten de waarheid hebben verdraaid.

"Driss was geen jongen die zoiets zou doen," zei zijn broer.

"Een zonde in het verborgene is reeds voor tweederde vergeven," luidt een Arabisch spreekwoord.

Women who ran over purse snatcher is released

The 43 year old woman who is suspected of fatally running over a purse snatcher has been released. This was decided on Thursday evening by the presiding judge of the court in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam woman remains a suspect in the case.

The Minister of Public Affairs had requested a longer detention on suspicion of murder. According to the Justice Department she deliberately back up with speed after the theft (of her purse) from her car. The 19 year old Ali el B. was thereby caught between her car and a tree and died on the spot from his injuries.

Not intentional

According to the presiding judge the woman did not act with intent to fatally run over the scooter driver or his passenger.

Memorial Procession

Friends and family of Ali de B. will hold a memorial procession , and a service at the Al Kabir mosque on the Weesperzijde. The procession will begin on the Third Oosterparkstraat where El B. was killed. The march will leave at 2:00 and will end at the mosque where the memorial service is to be held.

At the same time the court in Amsterdam will make an early judgement in the case in which El B. had been involved (MIM Note: An armed robbery of an Pier 41 type store). The judgement was scheduled for the 31st of January but was moved up due to the demise of the suspect.

Verdonk ( Minister of Integration)

Minister Verdonk of Integration warned in the meantime that the woman who has been released was not charged with murder. According to her the driver did not run over someone simply because she did not like him and just happened to meet him on the street. 'If the youth had not stolen the bag, he would still just be riding around on his scooter and the woman would now be sitting at home' said the Minister on Radio 1 Thursday. But I am not declaring anyone unaccountable," she added.

Wilders (Ex VVD House Member)

The Lower House Member finds it "scandalous" that the Public Affairs Ministry is accusing the 43 year old woman of the murder of a Moroccan purse snatcher. "This is the world turned upside down. They are turning the victim into a perpetrator and vice versa", according to Wilders. The VVD House member who left the cabinet says it is incomprehensible and unacceptable that the woman is now being prosecuted. He wants all Moroccan hooligans to be deported after they have committed repeated acts of street terrorism.

AMSTERDAM - De 43-jarige vrouw die ervan wordt verdacht dat ze in Amsterdam-Oost een tasjesdief heeft doodgereden, is in vrijheid gesteld. Dat heeft de rechter-commissaris van de rechtbank in Amsterdam donderdagavond beslist. De Amsterdamse vrouw blijft wel verdachte in deze zaak.

Het Openbaar Ministerie had om verlenging van het voorarrest gevraagd op verdenking van doodslag. Volgens justitie is ze met opzet hard achteruitgereden na de diefstal uit haar auto. De 19-jarige Ali el B. raakte daardoor bekneld tussen haar auto en een boom en overleed ter plekke aan zijn verwondingen. Zijn 18-jarige medeverdachte wordt vrijdag voorgeleid.

Geen opzet

Volgens de rechter-commissaris heeft de vrouw niet met opzet gehandeld en was ze er niet op uit om de bestuurder en zijn passagier op de scooter dood te rijden.

Herdenkingstocht

Vrienden en familieleden van Ali el B. houden vrijdagmiddag in Amsterdam een herdenkingstocht en een dienst in de moskee Al Kabir aan de Weesperzijde. De tocht begint in de Derde Oosterparkstraat, waar El B. om het leven kwam. De stoet vertrekt daar om 14.00 uur en leidt naar de moskee waar een uur later de herdenking is.

Eveneens om 14.00 uur doet de rechtbank in Amsterdam vervroegd uitspraak in een andere zaak waarbij El B. eerder betrokken was, een roofoverval op een Xenos-filiaal. De uitspraak zou aanvankelijk op 31 januari zijn, maar is vervroegd na het overlijden van de verdachte.

Verdonk

Minister Verdonk van Integratie waarschuwde dat de inmiddels vrijgelaten vrouw niet beschuldigd wordt van moord. De automobiliste heeft volgens haar niet iemand doodgereden, alleen omdat ze hem niet mocht en hem toevallig op straat tegenkwam. "Als de jongen de tas niet had gestolen, reed hij nog gewoon op zijn scooter rond en zat de vrouw nu gewoon thuis", zei Verdonk donderdag op Radio 1. "Maar ik pleit niemand vrij", voegde ze eraan toe.

Wilders

Het Tweede-Kamerlid Wilders vindt het "schandelijk" dat het OM in Amsterdam de 43-jarige vrouw verdenkt van doodslag op een Marokkaanse tasjesdief. "Dit is de wereld op zijn kop. Ze maken van een slachtoffer een dader en andersom", aldus Wilders. Het uit de VVD gestapte Kamerlid noemt het onbegrijpelijk en ongepast dat de vrouw nu wordt vervolgd. Hij wil dat alle Marokkaanse raddraaiers bij herhaalde straatterreur het land worden uitgezet.

MIM: The Muslim Moroccan community is brazenly trying to portray the career criminal Bejjati as a victim of Dutch anti Muslim sentiment, and attempted to provoke the citizens of Amsterdam by holding a procession which would have been a cynical mocking of the events which took place after the murder of Theo van Gogh. The fact that they are trying to draw a parallel between the running down of a thief by his victim, by holding a public funeral procession is a perverse ploy to draw a connection between a thief's death, and the Van Gogh murder. More proof, if any is needed that the Muslims live in a parallel universe which no amount of education and goverment financed 'citizenship courses' will change. The Dutch public and governemnt have to focus on a strategy for survival, so that citizens can live safely and securely in their own homes, streets and country. It is time time that the Dutch heeded the warnings of politician Bolkestein in the 1980s and realize that the time for integration, assimiliation, and making the Muslims feel more at home in the hope they will become part of of the country is a fatal illusion. They are now facing a fifth column of terrorists who were born and bred in their own country, speak their language, and have declared that their only loyalty is to Allah and shari'a.

MIM: (Mayor) Cohen stops silent procession El Bajjati.

The purse snatcher who was run over, Ali el Bejjati, is going to be remembered with a silent procession throught Amsterdam his family and friends announced. Mayor Cohen regards this as a 'bad sign' if a convicted criminal is going to be remembered in this way, even if his death was tragic.

"The friends and the family of the victim must realize that this began with the theft of a purse. He was not a nice boy, far from it,and that must not be trivialised". according to Cohen who spoke yesterday afternoon with Bejjati's sister. The conversation was about the planned processession, but Cohen made clear he did not approve of it at all. After the talk the sister decided against the procession, which would have taken place from the Central Station ( in the middle of Amsterdam), instead, a large contingent of Moroccans would walk in the Third Oosterparkstraat (note: This is the spot where the thief was run over, and close to where Theo van Gogh was slaughtered) to the place where Ali was run down and then to a memorial service at the nearby mosque on the Weesperzijde.

Cohen is doing his best to keep the mounting conflicts between the Moroccans and other groups in check. "That is why it is necessary that the facts are made clear to everyone. They are being underplayed and as a result all kinds of conflicts are erupting. It is now the job of the Ministry of Public Affairs to investigate ", according to the Mayor.

Confession

The 18 year old accomplice of the purse snatcher who presented himself on Wednesday has confessed. He was brought in front of the presiding judge . The 15 and 16 year old boys whom the police picked up after the theft appear not to have been involved.One of the boys was the owner of the scooter which the victim (Bejjati) had been riding, and the license was registered in his name. One was released and another is in custody in connection with another theft.

Memorial Service

Friends and familhy of Ali el Bejjati are holding a memorial procession Friday afternoon in Amsterdam and a service in the Al Kabir mosque on the Weeperzijde . Contrary to earlier news reports the procession will not begin by the Central Station ,but in the Third Oosterparkstraat where El B. died. The march will leave at 2:00 and will lead to the mosque where the memorial service will take place an hour later. This was announced Thursday by a spokesperson from the East Watergraafsmeer.

On the tree in the Third Oosterparkstraat where Ali el B. died a piece of paper was hung with an an anouncement of the memorial. The letter was addressed to "Brothers and Sisters of Islam" .."As you know our brother Ali was run over and killed by a driver . This coming Friday we would Inshallah like to remember Ali with our beloved family ,friends, acquaintances, neighbors and anyone who is interested."

Cohen stopt stille tocht El Bejjati

AMSTERDAM - De doodgereden tasjesdief Ali el Bejjati krijgt vandaag géén stille tocht door Amsterdam, hoewel diens naasten dat hadden aangekondigd. Burgemeester Job Cohen vindt het een " slecht signaal" als een veroordeelde crimineel op deze wijze herdacht wordt, ook al is hij op tragische wijze omgekomen.

"De familie en vrienden van het slachtoffer moeten zich realiseren dat dit wel allemaal begonnen is met een tasjesroof. Het was geen lieve jongen, verre van, en dat mag niet gebagatelliseerd worden", aldus Cohen, die gistermiddag met de zus van El Bejjati sprak. Dat gesprek zou gaan over de te houden tocht, maar de burgemeester maakte al snel duidelijk dat hij daar helemaal niets in zag. De zus zag na het gesprek af van de tocht, die vanaf het Centraal Station naar de Derde Oosterparkstraat zou gaan en massaal gelopen zou worden door Marokkanen. In plaats daarvan houden familie en vrienden van de maandag overleden Ali een korte tocht van de plaats des onheils naar een nabijgelegen moskee aan de Weesperzijde.

Cohen doet zijn uiterste best het zoveelste Amsterdamse conflict tussen Marokkaanse en andere bevolkingsgroepen in toom te houden. "Daarom is het van belang dat iedereen van alle feiten wordt doordrongen. Die leken onderbelicht te raken en daarvoor kwamen allerlei tegenstrijdigheden in de plaats. Het is nu aan het openbaar ministerie om het allemaal uit te zoeken" , aldus de burgemeester.

Bekentenis

De 18-jarige medeverdachte van de tasjesroof die zich woensdagavond meldde, heeft inmiddels bekend. Hij wordt vandaag voorgeleid voor de rechter-commissaris. De twee jongens van 15 en 16 jaar die de politie aanhield vlak na het incident, blijken niets met de betreffende tasjesroof te maken hebben gehad. Een van de jongens was de eigenaar van de brommer waarop het slachtoffer reed en de andere had de kentekenplaat op zijn naam staan. Een jongen is weer op vrije voeten, de andere zit nog vast in verband met een andere diefstal.

Herdenkingsbijeenkomst

Vrienden en familieleden van Ali el Bejjati houden vrijdagmiddag in Amsterdam een herdenkingstocht en een dienst in de moskee Al Kabir aan de Weesperzijde. In tegenstelling tot eerdere berichten begint de tocht niet bij het Centraal Station, maar in de Derde Oosterparkstraat waar El B. om het leven kwam. De stoet vertrekt daar om 14.00 uur en leidt naar de moskee waar een uur later de herdenking plaatsvindt. Dat liet een woordvoerder van het stadsdeel Oost-Watergraafsmeer donderdag weten.

Op de boom in de Derde Oosterparkstraat, waar Ali el B. om het leven kwam, hangt een A4-tje met een oproep voor de herdenking. De brief is gericht aan de 'broeders en zusters van de islam'. "Zoals jullie weten is onze broeder Ali op maandagavond doodgereden door een automobilist. Graag willen we aanstaande vrijdag insha'allah samen met onze geliefde familie, vrienden, kennissen, buren en belangstellenden Ali herdenken."

Wilders says that if necessary Holland will have to remove themselves from the Human Rights Treaty and change the constitution if it is the only way to deal with terrorism and extreme street crime.

Wilders: Schande dat OM slachtoffer tasjesdief vervolgt

DEN HAAG - Tweede-Kamerlid Wilders vindt het "schandelijk" dat het Openbaar Ministerie in Amsterdam een 43-jarige automobiliste verdenkt van doodslag op een Marokkaanse tasjesdief.

Wilders: "Dit is schandelijk, de wereld op zijn kop. Ze maken van een slachtoffer een dader en andersom. Onbegrijpelijk en ongepast dat deze vrouw in het nauw nu vervolgd wordt. Om over de stille tocht in Amsterdam nog maar te zwijgen."

Het uit de VVD gestapte Kamerlid wil "alle Marokkaanse raddraaiers het land uitzetten". Wilders: "Ik word hier helemaal gek van. De mensen zijn de raddraaiers in de steden en dorpen zat. Bij herhaalde straatterreur moeten we deze jongens simpelweg het land uitzetten."

Wilders is niet bang dat wetten in de weg staan om criminele Marokkanen het land uit te zetten. "Het kabinet wil hetzelfde met terroristen. Het terrorisme op straat moet je net zo behandelen als het terrorisme tegen de Staat. Oppakken, denationaliseren en het land uitzetten, dat is de enige manier."

Wilders stelde onlangs dat Nederland desnoods het Europees Verdrag voor de Rechten van de Mens moet opzeggen en de grondwet moet wijzigen als dat nodig is om terrorisme en extreme straatoverlast aan te pakken.
