ANTI-HATE GROUP CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO CAIR LEADER'S TIES TO ISLAMIC RADICAL YUSUF AL-QARADAWI

(Los Angeles, CA) Americans Against Hate (AAH), a civil rights organization and terrorism watchdog group, is calling on federal authorities to investigate the connection between the Executive Director of CAIR-California Hussam Ayloush and the Spiritual Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood Yusuf al-Qaradawi.

In December 2001, CAIR-California's website published a photo taken in Los Angeles of Ayloush shoulder-to-shoulder with al-Qaradawi. This was two years after al-Qaradawi had been banned from entering the United States. Ayloush was then, as he is today, the head of CAIR-California.

Al-Qaradawi has been banned from entering the United States since 1999. In the past, al-Qaradawi has incited violence against Jews, endorsed suicide bombings, called for homosexuals to be put to death, voiced his support for various terrorist organizations, called for the destruction of the state of Israel, and sanctioned attacks against U.S. troops abroad.

The Ayloush/Qaradawi photo can be viewed here. The homepage of CAIR-California's website containing the photo can be viewed here.

In November 2002, Ayloush reverently described al-Qaradawi as a "scholar."

AAH Chairman Joe Kaufman stated, "We want to know how Mr. Ayloush came to pose side-by-side with al-Qaradawi. We want to know the nature of Mr. Ayloush's engagement with the terror leader and any discussions they had together. We want to know why Mr. Ayloush allowed the photo to be placed on his group's website two years after al-Qaradawi was banned from the U.S. And we want to know the extent of Ayloush and al-Qaradawi's past and present relationship."
