Hizb Ut-Tahrir Jihad Conference Held In Chicago Suburb

By William Mayer and Beila Rabinowitz

July 20, 2009 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Hizb ut-Tahrir, the "Party of Liberation" was founded in 1953. Part of the Sunni Muslim Salafist movement to "purify" Islam, its goal is to Islamize all societies under the yoke of a Muslim theocratic dictatorship - the Caliphate [also Khilafah].

Unlike other radical Muslim groups, Hizb [how the group refers to itself in its own internal documents] does not fund "social" work, but concentrates on radicalizing Muslim youth, acting as a feeder system for the grand jihad.

Banned by the Palestinian Authority, Germany, Russia, Jordan, other Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, unbelievably the group is freely allowed to operate in the United States and most of Europe.

Despite Hizb ut-Tahrir adamantly denying that it's a terrorist group its most infamous associates include 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the former leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq who was killed during a June 2006 airstrike on his compound and banned British imam Omar Bakri Mohammed, believed to now be living in Lebanon.

This past weekend the group conducted a jihad conference in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn after losing their original venue at the Bridgeview, IL Aqsa school. The theme of the conference was predictably incendiary, "The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam."

Despite its claims of moderation, Hizb ut-Tahrir's former leader justified various forms of violent jihad including the hijacking of airplanes, "If the plane belongs to a country at war with Muslims, like Israel, it is allowed to hijack it, for there is no sanctity for Israel nor for the Jews in it." We challenge anyone to view the below, slickly produced video promoting the Illinois conference and not be alarmed.

The Revolutionary Ideology Of Hizb Ut-Tahrir Revealed

July 20, 2009 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Item: Terror linked revolutionary Muslim group draws 800 at Chicago conference [see, Hizb Ut-Tahrir Jihad Conference Held In Chicago Suburb].

In a little noted 2004 monograph issued by the Nixon Center and titled, Hizb ut-Tahrir - Islam's Political Insurgency lead author Zeyno Baran described the danger posed by the group.

"[Hizb ut-Tahrir] has successfully sown the seeds of an ideology encouraging a clash of civilizations in over forty countries. HT takes advantage of the open societies of the West to spread its strongly anti-American and anti-Semitic ideology. HT thereby provides terrorist networks such as al- Qaeda and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan with ideological cover."

Promoting itself using tactics developed by Marxist-Leninist revolutionaries, Hizb ut-Tahrir has now boldly taken its organizing above ground, for the first time hosting a public conference in the heartland of America.

It is doubtful that such an event, blatantly seeking to hasten the destruction of the West [conference theme, "The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam"] could have taken place above ground if the political landscape had not been shaken to its foundation last November by the election of leftist "community organizer" Barack Obama.

With this weekend's historic jihad fest now still freshly in the public mind, we suggest that those concerned about preserving Western ideals thoroughly familiarize themselves with the strategy and tactics of these newly resurgent Islamists, as Ms. Baran suggests, "the tolerance of intolerance is no longer acceptable if we are to win the battle of ideas."

Replacing the U.S. Constitution with the Koran

by Daniel Pipes
July 24, 2009

Back in 2004, I noted the disbelief that greets me "when I explain that the Islamist goal is to take over the United States and replace the Constitution with the Koran." Five years later, it's still the case, with most Americans incredulous at such an intention. So, I thank (1) the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization (on which, see Zeyno Baran, Hizb ut-Tahrir: Islam's Political Insurgency) for holding a forthright conference yesterday and (2) Steven Emerson's Investigative Project on Terrorism for attending the event and reporting on it.

IPT begins by setting the scene:

Nearly 300 people packed the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel [in Oak Lawn, Illinois, near Chicago] for its Khalifah Conference on "The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam" to listen to listen to HT ideologues blame capitalism for World War I and World War II; the U.S. subprime mortgage meltdown; the current violence in Iraq and Afghanistan; world poverty and malnutrition and inner-city drug use. Security at the conference was very tight. Oak Lawn police maintained a checkpoint outside the Hilton, and local police and HT's own security people had a substantial presence inside the hotel. In the ballroom where the conference took place, men and women were largely segregated, with men in the front and women in the back.

One speaker, identified as Imam Jaleel Abdul Razek, engaged in the following dialogue with an unidentified member of the audience on the subject of which law should rule in the United States (click here for the video clip):

Audience member: "Would you get rid of the Constitution for Shariah, yes or no?"

Abdul Razek: "Over the Muslim world? Yes, it [the Constitution] would be gone."

Audience Member: And so, if the United States was a Muslim world, the Constitution would be gone?"

Abdul Razek: "If the United States was in the Muslim world, the Muslims who are here would be calling and happy to see the Shariah applied, yes we would."

Audience Member: "And the Constitution gone. That's all."

Abdul Razek: "Yes, as Muslims they would be long gone."
