July 8, 2009 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - A 15.6 million dollar mosque has opened in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center has been "conducting some services and cultural programs since the fall" but celebrated it's official opening on Friday with a call to prayer from atop the 185 ft. minaret.
Bilal Kaleem the executive director of the American arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Muslim American Society [MAS], in Boston, "which is overseeing the mosque" told the Boston Herald that the mosque is "a symbol of the Muslim community's growth and development." The building of the mosque had been met with strong opposition due to it's radical Islamist ties and Saudi funding. Charles Jacobs head of

Americans for Peace and Tolerance and co-founder of The David Project was one of its most vociferous critics [his organisation was also sued by the Islamic Society of Boston].
"Jacobs accused the local civic, religious, and media establishment of allowing itself to be blinded by political correctness and what he calls "Islamophobiaphobia." In an Op-ed, "Leaders are Extremist" Jacobs wrote:
"Some milestone! The city has helped the Wahhabi clerical establishment - purveyors of the most intolerant religious teachings on the planet - and the Muslim Brotherhood - genesis of all Sunni terrorist organizations - set up shop in the Cradle of Liberty, flying a false flag of moderation." Mayor Menino of Boston made light of the controversy and stated "Are there some extremists in Islam, no question, but do I have some in my religion? Yes, there are. We have to get beyond that."
Keith Ellison the Minnesota Congressman who is closely connected to MAS [and was sworn into Congress using a Qur'an] and other Islamist organizations headlined a fundraising dinner for the mosque.
The opening of a Saudi-funded mosque with proven radical ties will result in a bastion of extremism which will serve to radicalize the local Muslim community.
