CAIR LEADER ALTAF ALI RECENTLY DISINVITED FROM PRAYER BREAKFAST, AFTER HAMAS TIES REVEALED

(Coral Springs, FL) This Saturday, May 10th, former U.S. Senator and Florida Governor Bob Graham will be speaking at an event that will also feature Altaf Ali, the Executive Director of the Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida). The event will be hosted by the Miami Lakes Congregational Church. CAIR recently was named a co-conspirator by the U.S. government for its role in the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. And CAIR-Florida recently stated its support for Hamas.

In May of 2007, CAIR was labeled as a co-conspirator for a Hamas financing trial that named leaders of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), an Islamic charity that was shut down by the U.S. government in December of 2001, as defendants. During the trial, evidence was presented proving CAIR's involvement in Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzook's Palestine Committee, a group whose goal was to raise money for Hamas from American shores.

In March of 2008, CAIR representative Jawhar "Joe" Badran was caught on camera stating his support for Hamas. As well, while standing next to Altaf Ali, he stated unequivocally that Hamas is not a terrorist organization. CAIR-Florida Communications Director Omer Subhani has also said that Hamas is not a terrorist group.

Chairman of Americans Against Hate (AAH) Joe Kaufman stated, "It is unfortunate that someone that has held such high offices in our country and state, as Bob Graham has, would participate in an affair with an individual linked to an international terrorist organization. This is especially distressing, given the fact that Altaf Ali was, just one week ago, disinvited from speaking at a prayer breakfast taking place in Plantation, Florida, after these same terror ties were revealed. We demand that Senator Graham cancel his participation at this event, because any participation will be seen as support for Hamas."

Bob Graham is currently involved in the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, located at the University of Florida, Gainesville. AAH encourages everyone concerned to respectfully express his/her feelings on this matter, by contacting Bob Graham at (305) 817-4060 and the Graham Center at (352) 846-1575.
