Bosnian Muslim Bombing Plot Targeting U.S. Embassy Foiled In Austria

October 1, 2007 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org – Austrian security officials today took into custody a Bosnian Muslim believed involved in a terrorist plan to bomb the U.S. embassy in Vienna, where he was apprehended.

As the Austrian press agency stated the man, "suddenly dropped the bag filled with hand grenades and other explosives in Pfluggasse in Vienna's 9th district. Before that he had visited the US-embassy in nearby Boltzmanngasse, police said."

The plot failed when the man was denied entry into the embassy.

Though the identity of the suspect has not yet been released by authorities, it is known that Bosnia is home to a substantial number of Islamic jihadists and that their presence there has been growing since the NATO/Clinton intervention on behalf of Muslim forces in the Bosnian civil war in 1990s which made it possible for members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and other Islamists to establish an increasingly threatening mujahideen presence in eastern Europe.

Reports on the European television channel Eux TV state that a, "book with allegedly Islamic content was also found on the man…[and that] Less than two weeks ago, three second-generation immigrants of Muslim background were arrested in Austria in connection with an Islamist threat video, warning Austria and Germany to withdraw forces from Afghanistan…[as part of that investigation] a list of Austrian politicians as potential targets of terrorist attacks also surfaced."
