MIM: Young Muslims Canada(the youth Wing of the Islamic Circle of North America), is adapting the strategies of Western marketing and packaging their da'wa (Jihad through conversion). This new image is part of a push to get Muslim Youth into professional careers in order to spread "the True Message" of Islam in the workplace in order to play a strategically 'crucial role in the nascent Islamic renaissance of our era" and bring about the Islamisation of North America from within.

Our generation of Muslims across North America has a unique opportunity and the great responsibility of playing a crucial role in the nascent Islamic renaissance of our era. The Muslim community must learn to acquire and efficiently employ all kinds of skills in the pursuit of its goals to bring about a better change. Our ultimate goal as Muslims is to earn Allah's pleasure. If we look at the bigger picture, and I mean, the global picture, our responsibilities as Muslims are huge. Not only are we called to struggle against poverty, security issues, injustice, oppression, but our task should encompass spreading the True message as well. As such, we have to excel at the work we engage in because only through excellence will we achieve new heights. Islam gives us solution for everything- from how to become a financially independent community to how to establish uplifted social, political, justice and infrastructural systems.

Young Muslims Academics Young Muslims Academics is all about working towards a ground swell solution-oriented approach to many challenges faced by young Muslim brothers and sisters as they get set to start their careers. Our goal is to work towards the first full-fledged career centre catering to Muslim graduates offering badly needed services and solutions for free. We already have two active services that have received amazing feedback and a lot of support from the community- Resume critiquing and practice job interviews. Networking discussions boards, skills development training, monthly newsletters, and workplace-related publications are some ideas under development. We encourage you to take advantage of these services and we look forward to working with you. Professional Development "O our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us form the torment of the Fire!" (Quran 2:201)

A career journal shares some aspects with a personal journal but is much more structured - focused on a specific career-related goal - and designed to empower your career development or job-search. Whether you are a student searching for career direction or an established job-seeker thinking of a career change, you'll discover untold things about yourself, about your career field, and about job-hunting, all from simply keeping a career journal. Professional development also includes developing your soft skills, such as delivering presentations, and a venue for this could be participating with a Toastmasters Club. You should also have long-term goals, such as pursuing a graduate degree in a field you enjoy and has scope in the job market in order to continue polishing your skills, and gain that competitive edge over others.

When at loss, we have our most beautiful resource, the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to use as our guide. "Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in ranks, as if they were a solid cemented structure" (Quran, 61:4) Planning for the future involves taking up positions in a wide array of fields to project a positive intellectual, economical and political impact on our society. To make these choices, you need to open up magazines and websites to examine the occupational outlook for the years after your graduation in different fields. Always aim for careers that have a strong projected growth and offer exciting opportunities. Everything about us reflects our upbringing within the sphere of Islam.

As professionals, we have to develop leadership and managerial skills, to be examples for everyone around us. We know our conduct and demeanor speaks louder than our words and hence we should be driven by our sense of justice, equity and kindness, towards all yet with restiveness that the occasion may require. Whatever the task we undertake, we must perform it to the best of our abilities, but remembering that no job is important enough to compromise our faith, after all this is a temporary world. As ambassadors of Islam however, our endeavors are not free of challenges. Great wisdom lies in the way Allah, glory be to Him, tests us, in professional settings, as we attempt to grab opportunities that come our way. Remember, what you achieve today, will be seen as the contributions of the Ummah long after you, and you leave behind a legacy that will benefit many generations to come.
