Hirsi Ali: Pseudo intellectual will sink neo con think tank : 'Spinoza's excommunication like Khomeini's fatwa on Rushdie'

Plan to make movie about the sex life of Mohammed 'to educate Muslims' but will be 'too graphic for American audiences'
May 19, 2006

HIrsi Ali "To Hell with the V.V.D"

According to journalist Ebru Umar Ali said this in response to being criticised for putting her personal business above that of her duties as a parlimentarian.http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/1911

The blue banners bear the initials of the V V. D. (The Volk, Vrijheid and Democratie party). The broad smiles on her colleagues faces have long since disappeared and presumably morphed into broad sighs of relief, now that Ali has been forced to resign from a political post which she complained cramped her style and 'damaged her ideals'which included writing philosophical tracts like Karl Popper.http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/1917

The 'con'curring' heroine upon her return to Holland after she caved to Islamist intimidation, (despite having full time bodyguards since 2002) went into hiding, and fled the country in the wake the ritual murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh, by terrorists. Van Gogh paid Ali 18,000 euros for her script, and was gunned down and nearly decapitated after making it into a movie. In a recent book Ali ignored the fact that scores of intellectuals and politicians in Europe are living under death threats (with their families) and asserted that:

"...I have taken an enormous risk by answering the call for self-reflection and by joining in the public debate that has been taking place in the West since 9/11..."

Ali's failure to stand up to Islamists after the death of Van Gogh appropriately earned her the American Jewish Committee's moral courage award. The AJC's track record of 'moral courage' entailed being silent about the Holocaust and not showing support for Israel until it was fashionable after the '67 war, in order to avoid any accusations of dual loyalty.

David Harris of the AJC introduced Ali in referential tones stating that "Ali was the most fitting recipient of an award meant to celebrate 100 years of fighting for human freedom, human dignity and human rights for all".

Apparently human dignity was expendable when it came to Theo van Gogh, whom AJC director David Harris described as having been a "bulletin board" for the threats made against the ex Muslima. Not one to share the spotlight - even posthumously, Ali did not mention Van Gogh at all.

The display of dhimmitude the AJC was only matched by Ali's hubris. She addressed her speech to "the Jews in the audience" and appeared to wax nostalgic about why she used to hate them, adding that "the good news is that I...no longer blame you for my misfortunes..." http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/1904

MIM:Hirsi Ali : I think therefore Islam:

www.emma.de/ 05_4_inhalt.html

The Muslim goddess has feet of clay, but supporters of Ali have rallied around her in a manner bordering on mass hysteria, the idolisation which could aptly be referred to as a Mor'ali'relativism' movement.

Although touted as a poster girl for Muslim integration, Ali is a case study is failed affirmative action.

Ali demands and feels that she deserves special privledges based on her minority status. She exploits her ethnicity and Muslim status as a foreigner to point out the native Dutch all that is wrong in the Muslim world and Islam, telling them that it is their problem and obligation to fix it in a reverse colonialist fashion.

While receiving media attention as the champion of downtrodden and oppresed Muslims, Ali provokes them by expressing her contempt for Islam and believers, taunting them under the guise of 'education, emancipation and enlightenment'. (Ironically the atheist moral relativist Ali is working on a book called "The Path to Enlightment", in this case an exercise in the blind leading those blinded by rage.

The self proclaimed ex Muslima recently told an interviewer that her planned movie about the sex life of Mohammed would be 'an educational tool' for Muslims...but warned that it would be 'too graphic for American audiences'.

Prempting Muslim hostility, Ali adds insult to injury by haranguing the media about how hateful and intolerant, and agressive Muslims are, for not wanting to be educated by her. Controversy sells and the media obediently lionises the 'brave outspoken Ali ' against whom Muslims are issuing death threats.

In a 2005 interview with Danish Islamic scholar Lars Hedegaard, ex abortion clinic translator Ali used cunning linguistics to compare Spinoza's ex communication from the Jewish community in Amsterdam to Khomeini's world wide fatwa to kill Salman Rushdie stating:

",...Spinoza was cursed and the wording of the curse is exactly the same as in islam. It is almost the same words Khomeiny used to curse Salman Rushdie..."

The ex socialist declared that Yasser Arafat was similiar to Mohammed,in a 'warts and all' kind of way;

"In many ways the prophet can be compared to Yassir Arafat, who always managed to present himself as a hero and restistance fighter despite all his bad characteristics..."

Last but not least Ali pontificated that reforming Islam was 'easy' if if one declared the Koran profane, regarded Mohammed as just a dirty old man, and did away with sexual taboos ...

Q: Are you optimistic about the prospect of reforming the islamic majority countries?

A :"Yes, if we remove the sacred stamp from the Koran, if we review the prophet Muhammed's role and if we change the sexual morals, then yes, we could do it very easily"

http://www.sappho.dk/Den%20loebende/hirsi_english.htm

It looks like the American Enterprise Institute, a neo conservative think tank, has just made the same mistake as the VVD, and gone multi kulti , by bringing Ali, a committed atheist and moral relativist, who once worked for a Socialist foundation and a as a translator in an abortion clinic, on board.

Ali's intellectual pretentions and patronising 'colonalist' attitude towards the Muslims she claims to want to 'emancipate' were highlighted in a recent interview in Denmark.Ali announced she planned to make a film about the sex life of Mohammed 'to educate Muslims' and coyly cautioned that it would be 'too graphic for the Americans'. On a political level, she compared Mohammed to Yasser Arafat, and added that bizarre insight was due to her "special background".

MIM: Not content with deriding practicing Muslims and Islam, Ali also demeans believers of any stripe.. She mocked Dutch Prime Minister Balkende as a fool for saying he believes in creation, and concluded that he was not a Christian :

"...Perhaps it sounds arrogant but I think that most people who say they believe are at the core atheists. The avoid the question if they really believe in God and lose themselves in derivation. We need to start a debate in Holland about the question: Does morality come form us, people, or is it given from God? And then we need to analyse the actions of Jan Peter Balkenende, Have you ever listened closely to him?He is always talking about Biblical norms and values, not about the the things God asks us to do or avoid. Balkende the scientist the man who has to learn to refute in order to come to a certain truth, believes that the world was formed in six days? That Eve was made from Adam's rib? That does not exist. Scientists do not believe it. I am completely convinced that Balkende is not a Christian..." (original text in Dutch below)

MIM:Ali disdains any form of belief in God and intends to show Muslims that the Koran has no divine origins:

The doctrine stating that the faith is inalterable because the Koran was dictated by God must be replaced. Muslims must realize that it was human beings who wrote the holy scriptures. After all, most Christians don't believe in hell, in the angels or in the earth having been created in six days. They now see these things as symbolic stories, but they still remain true to their faith.

Since 2003 Ali was kept afloat by her political party the VVD .The affirmative action in her case backfired when it became known that she had fraudulently obtained asylum when she came from Somalia . The political fallout left the party in tatters, prompting Ali to pack up and head for new confrontational turf in order to hide her lack of substance behind media hype.

The AEI will soon find their mission statement and work eclipsed by Ali's self proclaimed need to debate every issue from a moral relativist perspective (i.e. ad infinitum since there can be no answer if one denies the existence of absolutes), and that they will be investing resources and efforts to practice damage control when Ali's provocation of Muslims is being seen as a policy statement of their institute.

The VVD experience should be a template for the AEI -who should reconsider their decision to hire Ali, or be prepared to become known henceforth as "The Ali Enterprise Institute'.

A liberal leftwing journalist in the Guardian who justified Ali's lying about her background as 'something anybody would have done' whitewashed the fact that she has provoked Muslims by calling Muhammed a 'perverse tyrant and pedofile and ' gloated that :

"...She will not make life easy for her new colleagues and certainly oppose many of their views on social policy..."

MIM: Ali was also sanctified by Christoher Hitchens, who gushed:

"...I never know whether or not it's right to mention, with female public figures, the fact of arresting and hypnotizing beauty, but I notice that I seem to have done so..." Apparently Ali, the multi kulti Islam basher who was the subject of recent documentary called "Saint Ayaan' is more of Hitchens type then the aged nun Mother Teresa, whom he attacked as "fanatic and fraudulent". http://www.slate.com/id/2090083/

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/story/0,,1779945,00.html

But as Ali herself noted in 2003 she had never really wanted to go into politics anyway, so the claims that she declared "To hell with the VVD' are entirely understandable given her 'special background'.

"...I would like, for example, like to write philosophical pieces like Karl Popper. So this step is paradoxal enough, going into politics, damaging to my ideals. I would much prefer to be a philospher and work out my own theories. Have a place to write someone who cleans for me, not have to worry about making a living, and really debating instead of talking about nothing, That would make me happy..."http://www.trouw.nl/deverdieping/dossiers/article7566.ece/Ayaan+Hirsi+Ali

(As William Mayer, the editor of Pipeline News pointed out: Ali's claim to want to 'write philosophical pieces like Karl Popper', is like a someone saying they plan to sit at MIT and write scientific works like Einstein.)

MIM: When asked by a German interviewer if Ali would be using her 'uncompromising approach' to make follow up to Submission l she replied:

"...Yes, of course. We want to continue the debate over the Koran's claim to absoluteness, the infallibility of the Prophet and sexual morality. In the first part, we portrayed a woman who speaks to her god, complaining that despite the fact that she has abided by his rules and subjugated herself, she is still being abused by her uncle. The second part deals with the dilemma into which the Muslim faith plunges four different men. One hates Jews, the second one is gay, the third is a bon vivant who wants to be a good Muslim but repeatedly succumbs to life's temptations, and the fourth is a martyr. They all feel abandoned by their god and decide to stop worshipping him..." http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/spiegel/0,1518,399263,00.html

Ali's comments in the interviews above and below - indicate the her stint at the AEI think tank will prove to be more of an exercise in the latter.

Only time will tell if the AEI is willing to keep Ali afloat in the same way her former VVD party did before she pulled the plug on them after jumping ship with the only life preserver.

Excerpts:

Ayaan Hirsi Ali nurtures a dream of making a muslim "Life of Brian" with all the juicy details of the prophet Muhammed's life as a conqueror and womanizer - and if possible in Denmark. All they have to do is call... By Helle Merete Brix and Lars Hedegaard

You have said that you would like to make a muslim "Life of Brian".
"Yes, Muhammed is a much more colourful personality than Jesus. Such a film could be a learning instrument for muslims.
"Muhammed had many wifes. He was a sensuous man. He talked lot about sex and sexuality, about women. You can read that in the Koran and in the Hadith. They are very detailed on the sexuality business. For the Americans it might be too much but I'm sure that the Europeans would find it very colourful..."

MIM: Besides planning a racy film about Muhamamed, Ali says she is 'so happy' about making Submission II. The only problem, it seems, is to find someone to pay her 18,000 euros for her film script as Van Gogh did, and a filmmaker who has 24/7 bodyguard protection like Ali did during the making of Submission l who would be able to live to make Submission III.

I'm going to make a film called "Submission II", and the people who want to help me make it think that it is my decision what I want to say. I'm so happy about that.

"...In many ways the prophet can be compared to Yassir Arafat, who always managed to present himself as a hero and restistance fighter despite all his bad characteristics. If you want to get a sense of the kind of preson Muhammed was, Hirsi Ali recommends an article on Arafat in the September 2005 issue of The Atlantic Monthly.

"When I read that - with my special background - I thought: That is so typical. He had it from somebody."

MIM: Ali's profound insights also extend to the realm of philosophy and theology. In a dazzling flight of intellectual fancy, Ali compares the ex communication edict issued by the Jewish community against Spinoza in the 16th century to Ayatollah Khomeiny's fatwa against Salman Rushdie in the 1990's. (!)

When the interviewer asked "Which books inspired you? she answered;

" I didn't like Plato. Everybody is crazy about Plato. I thought that Aristotle was really boring. ...Spinoza has influenced me through his political end ethical writings. His technical stuff is completely inaccessible to me. But his personal story and his fight with the synagogues have also inspired me. Spinoza was cursed and the wording of the curse is exactly the same as in islam. It is almost the same words Khomeiny used to curse Salman Rushdie."

Among fiction writers of muslim background Hirsi Ali mentions Salman Rushdie and Irshad Manji.

"Unfortunately there has been no muslim Popper, Mill, Hayek, Kant or Locke. Before 1100 they were always killed. It's your life or your thoughts..."

MIM: Text of interview with Hirsi Ali

http://www.sappho.dk/Den%20loebende/hirsi_english.htm Ayaan Hirsi Ali nurtures a dream of making a muslim "Life of Brian" with all the juicy details of the prophet Muhammed's life as a conqueror and womanizer - and if possible in Denmark. All they have to do is call'. By Helle Merete Brix and Lars Hedegaard
Photos: Steen Raaschou Disturbing questions about the massive muslim presence in Europe are becoming more urgent by the day: It it possible to integrate muslims to become part of Europe? Will we have a liberal version of islam? And if not, what is there to look forward to? Civil war? Dissolution? An islamic take-over?

If your head is full of such nagging thoughts, it is a solace to meet Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the liberal Dutch politician and originally muslim immigrant from Somalia. Since the murder of Dutch film maker Theo van Gogh, for whose strongly islam-critical film "Submission I" Ms. Ali wrote the script, she has been under constant police protection. That was also the case when Sappho.dk interviewed her during her recent visit to Copenhagen.

But in spite of death threats and constant vilification the slender woman has by no means lost heart. She still waxes eloquent when she talks about the issue that concerns her the most: The defence of European civil rights and particularly freedom of expression.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali comes across as a genuinely European intellectual of the kind that is becoming increasingly rare as our home-grown cultural personalities and opinion leaders are buzily discarding our intellectual heritage.

The strength of art
Why does this thoroughly political person with her background as a political scientist express herself through an artistic medium?
"Because sometimes art is much more powerful than words. Art is accessible to many more more people than if you write a piece on an op-ed page. To understand art you don't have to know how to read and write," says Hirsi Ali, who then turns to the international furor caused by the twelve drawings of the prophet Muhammed recently published by the Danish national daily Jyllands-Posten.

"It is absolutely necessary for liberal European countries like Denmark to protect free speech. I've been in Holland for 13 years, and in a very short time I have learned how Europe came to be what it is today. And part of that was a huge conflict of religion. It started with the Reformation and reached its climax during the Enlightenment. If you refrain from making cartoons of Muhammed to accommodate Islamic intolerance, then you will go back to the time of Christian intolerance."

- Have you had any support among Dutch artists for your position?
"Yes, most of them do not agree with the style of what I have to say, but they find that I have the right to say it. I'm going to make a film called "Submission II", and the people who want to help me make it think that it is my decision what I want to say. I'm so happy about that. It's a big relief because at first I was afraid nobody was going to help me. The next challenge will be who is going to broadcast it. Which TV-channel, which cinema? But we will cross that bridge when we get to it."

A muslim "Life of Brian"
- You have said that you would like to make a muslim "Life of Brian".
"Yes, Muhammed is a much more colourful personality than Jesus. Such a film could be a learning instrument for muslims. There are some islamic films but they don't show the image of Muhammed and they are not really about him. They are more about how islam was established. I would really like to make a critical film about him. I could write a script very quickly."

- Would you dare to put in some of the details of his life such as the affair with Aisha, who Muhammed married when she was six and had sex with when she was nine?
"Oh yes. When I say colourful, Muhammed was of course a messenger of God like you read in the Bible about Noah and Moses, and you could make a beautiful film about that. But it would be much more interesting to describe that he was also a conqueror. He was superstitious. Every time he would need the support of his people, he would go to the cave to listen to the angel Gabriel. Putting that in a film would be very colourful, because whose voice is it going to be? Who could act as Muhammed?"

"Muhammed had many wifes. He was a sensuous man. He talked lot about sex and sexuality, about women. You can read that in the Koran and in the Hadith. They are very detailed on the sexuality business. For the Americans it might be too much but I'm sure that the Europeans would find it very colourful. I would put all of that in there in graphic detail, but also the moral dilemmas. Muhammed had adopted a son who was married to Zaynab. He fell in love with Zaynab and wanted her, but morally, of course, he could not demand to have her although his adopted son said that he could have his wife. So Muhammed had to go the cave and came back with a message that it was all right."

Why not in Denmark?
In fact Muhammed always seems to have received a divine revelation whenever his private affairs required it, says Ms. Ali. He also had one when some of his followers refused to annihilate other tribes. The Arabian tribes were constantly fighting each other but there were limits to what they would do. It was all right to kill off the men but you let the women live. There were also unwritten tribal rules about the confiscation of property. Muhammed broke many of these rules and defended his decisions by means of revelations that he had conveniently received.

"The Koran is a compilation of all the voices from the cave. I would just love to make a film about that. I would love to direct it. But who can I persuade to make such a film?"

- Does it have to be made in Holland?
"No"

- Would you make it in Denmark? We have a Film Institute financed by the state which would probably be prepared to fund an exciting and controversial film.
"All they have to do is to give me ring, and I'll come."

To Hirsi Ali Muhammed comes across as a person with many contradictions. He was always buzy with some intrigue, but there are also stories that he could be kind and magnanimous.

In many ways the prophet can be compared to Yassir Arafat, who always managed to present himself as a hero and restistance fighter despite all his bad characteristics. If you want to get a sense of the kind of preson Muhammed was, Hirsi Ali recommends an article on Arafat in the September 2005 issue of The Atlantic Monthly.

"When I read that - with my special background - I thought: That is so typical. He had it from somebody."

The European inspiration
- Could you mention some books or works of art that have inspired you?
"First of all there are the philosophical books that you have to read when you take political science. I didn't like Plato. Everybody is crazy about Plato. I thought that Aristotle was really boring. I loved Mill. I like Popper very much. He writes in very short sentences and all his thoughts are linked. He doesn't forget one step. Sometimes it is difficult to read the other German writers like Weber. Another writer I like - though you have to take your time reading him - is Norbert Elias. Then there is of course Locke. Spinoza has influenced me through his political end ethical writings. His technical stuff is completely inaccessible to me. But his personal story and his fight with the synagogues have also inspired me. Spinoza was cursed and the wording of the curse is exactly the same as in islam. It is almost the same words Khomeiny used to curse Salman Rushdie."

-Are you at all influenced by any muslim thinkers?
"I have read Ibn Khaldoun, but he was not introduced to me through islam but through westerners who had translated his works. I have heard about Taha, who was hanged in his native country of Sudan for demanding changes. I'm influenced by Ibn Warraq, who is not a good writer but a good thinker. So to answer your question, there are muslim thinkers but they just don't have the opportunity to come forward. Like Ibn Warraq. If he would be giving interviews, be on television, giving talks, he would be more elaborate than me because he knows more than me. But of course he has to be careful."

Among fiction writers of muslim background Hirsi Ali mentions Salman Rushdie and Irshad Manji.

"Unfortunately there has been no muslim Popper, Mill, Hayek, Kant or Locke. Before 1100 they were always killed. It's your life or your thoughts."

Nothing is sacred
- The Egyptian novelits Somaya Ramadan, who no longer considers herself a muslim, has said that the Arab language is difficult to work with because it is considered sacred. For that reason you cannot play with it.
"Oh yes. It is as if I woke up one morning and said that Evian Water is sacred. No language is sacred. To claim that is a non-violent way of stifling freedom of expression. If the Arabic language is sacred, how can Arabs ever think creatively, how can they express themselves? It is nonsense."

"I was recently together with some Arab journalists and I took out a Koran from my bag and put it on the ground. A Turkish girl who didn't wear a headscarf and seemed in every way secular, said: I demand that you pick up the Koran and put it back into your bag. I answered that it was my copy and that I would do with it what I liked. What is happening now is that you cannot analyse the content of the Koran because everything about it - the cover, the letters, the ink - is sacred."

- Are you optimistic about the prospect of reforming the islamic majority countries?
"Yes, if we remove the sacred stamp from the Koran, if we review the prophet Muhammed's role and if we change the sexual morals, then yes, we could do it very easily. Because muslims are also human, and humanity has shown that it can change and that it can humanise and modernise its way of life."

http://www.trouw.nl/deverdieping/dossiers/article7566.ece/Ayaan+Hirsi+Ali

In mijn pyjama rondlopen, boekje lezen.

In alles.

Verdriet.

Over bedreigingen gesproken..."

Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery: I was given in marriage to a distant cousin, It was the plan that I , would raise a family with him in Canada. Then I ran away my father disowned me. After a time he was sorry for his decision and he tried everything to arrange a divorce for me. He found that I should marry again and the prospect that I would die childless was unbearable for him. The divorce was finalised this summer. I have had several boyfriends and have lived together with someone for five years. I didnt tell this to my father, but the Somalian community in Holland, who watch me closely, surely told him. It doesnt look good for me,for committing adultery I could get 100 whip lashes according to the Koran or be stoned. Talk about threats..."

,,Mijn moeder vond sportles onzedelijk.
