Jewish Federation, Synagogues Partner with Mosques Linked to Terror and Antisemitism
Interfaith group raises serious questions about whom Jewish institutions are willing to embrace.

Interfaith dialogue is supposed to promote understanding and mutual respect for different religions. But what happens when Jewish organizations lend their names and credibility to an interfaith organization that includes mosques and religious figures with documented histories involving extremist rhetoric, terrorism investigations and virulent antisemitism?
That is the question raised by JAM & All Interfaith, a South Florida organization whose website homepage displays the logos of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, Temple Adath Or (TAO) and Temple Beth Orr (TBO) alongside those of Masjid Jamaat Al-Mumineen (MJAM) and the Islamic Center of South Florida (ICOSF).
[Note: The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County was contacted for this story but did not respond.]
JAM & All Interfaith, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary, is headed by Kamruz Hosein, the Trinidad-born former president of Miramar's Masjid al-Hijrah and current chaplain for Muslims at FIU (Florida International University), a position he received in September 2015.
Hosein's former mosque has a disturbing history.
Just prior to Hosein, Masjid al-Hijrah was led by Gulshair el-Shukrijumah, who assumed leadership soon after he had served as a character witness during the 1995 federal trial against the perpetrators of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Shukrijumah had been involved with the Brooklyn-based al-Farooq Mosque, where many of the '93 terrorists attended, and he was a translator for the spiritual leader of the attack, the "Blind Sheikh" Omar Abdel-Rahman. He also was the father of Adnan el-Shukrijumah, who went on to become a senior al-Qaeda operative and who allegedly ordered the 2009 plot to blow up the New York City Subway.
Hosein's current FIU affiliation raises additional concerns. In March 2019, Muslims at FIU promoted a project to construct a "mock Israeli apartheid wall at FIU." The project was sponsored by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a group soon banned by the state of Florida for supporting Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel.
JAM & All was co-founded by Shafayat Mohamed, founder and longtime imam of the Darul Uloom Institute (DUI) in Pembroke Pines.
Darul Uloom has its own troubling history. Adnan el-Shukrijumah reportedly served as a prayer leader there. "Dirty Bomber" Jose Padilla, later convicted on federal terrorism-related charges, studied under Mohamed. Mohamed himself was removed from several Broward County boards following inflammatory statements about homosexuals, including his claim that gay sex caused the 2004 Indonesian tsunami.
One of the mosques whose logo appears on JAM & All's website – along with the synagogue logos – is the Islamic Center of South Florida (ICOSF) in Pompano Beach.
ICOSF is owned by the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), an organization identified by the U.S. government as an unindicted co-conspirator in litigation connected to the Holy Land Foundation Hamas-financing case.
More alarming is ICOSF's repeated platforming of radical imam Fadi Kablawi, whom the FBI has alleged has ties to ISIS.
Kablawi has called Jews "the lowest of the lowest," expressed hatred toward Christians, blamed women victims of rape for the brutality committed against them, joked about sacrificing house pets at the mosque, questioned why Allah has not destroyed America or gays, and delivered rhetoric glorifying violent jihad. In April 2024, he prayed for the annihilation of Jews.
This was not someone who appeared at ICOSF once by accident. Between April and October 2022, the mosque brought Kablawi in at least five times to deliver Friday sermons. In August 2025, ICOSF livestreamed a funeral he officiated, during which Kablawi referred to non-Muslims as "kuffar" and declared that those who died as unbelievers should be given "the news of the hellfire."
ICOSF has also repeatedly hosted Monzer Taleb, who has publicly identified himself as a Hamas member, praised masked Hamas militants as "SUPERHEROES," and posted on his social media that Jews should vacate Israel and go back to Germany.
Then there is Masjid Jamaat Al-Mumineen (MJAM) in Margate.
MJAM is led by Izhar Khan, who was arrested in 2011 during a federal investigation into alleged financial support for the Pakistani Taliban. Prosecutors accused Khan, his father and others of participating in a conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.
Though the opening judge claimed the case against Khan was "compelling" and "clear" and that he "posed a danger to the community," charges against Izhar Khan were ultimately dismissed for insufficient evidence. His father, Hafiz Khan, however, was convicted on all counts and sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
But MJAM's problems extend well beyond that prosecution.
The mosque's own online library has contained religious texts advocating or endorsing horrifying practices and rhetoric. Among them are passages instructing husbands to beat "disobedient" wives, promoting female genital mutilation, condemning Jews and Christians as "enemies," prescribing death for homosexuals, and presenting violent jihad as a religious obligation.
One text declares, "May Allah destroy the Jews."
These are not accusations manufactured by political opponents. They are materials that appear in the mosque's own online collection.
All four of the aforementioned mosques – Masjid al-Hijrah, Darul Uloom, the Islamic Center of South Florida, and Masjid Jamaat Al-Mumineen – are members of the South Florida Muslim Federation (SFMF), an umbrella group for South Florida's radical Muslim institutions that organizes annual pro-Hamas conferences.
Which brings us back to South Florida's Jewish community.
What vetting standards are being used when Jewish institutions participate in interfaith organizations? Is anyone investigating prospective partners before Jewish organizations place their logos beside theirs?
While some believe interfaith dialogue can serve an important purpose, Islamists may view the practice as both an opportunity for proselytization (dawah) and potentially as a means of shielding their own malevolent objectives (jihad).
The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County and Temples Adath Or and Beth Orr should explain precisely what their relationship is with JAM & All Interfaith and whether they were aware of the backgrounds of the organizations and individuals involved. They must resolve to reconsider their associations with local mosques and imams they are engaging in "dialogue" with. Demanding the removal of their logos from the JAM & All website would be a start.
Jewish institutions have an obligation to protect the Jewish community. Ignoring credible warning signs and failure to take steps to prevent hate and violence is a dereliction of duty and makes a mockery of the Jewish Federation's own call – in its South Palm Beach County Jewish Community Security Initiative – to "Join us in creating a more secure and prepared Jewish community."
These institutions should lead by heeding their own security advice.
