MIM The press release below by Barbar Ahmed's family which was posted on the Luton Muslim Community Mosque decrying his extradition to the US to be tried on terrorism charges states that :

"For Muslims there is no legal or democratic means to air your concerns" and ominously adds" You must use other ways to get justice".

The Ahmad's call for Muslims to "use other means to get justice" is a open incitement to Jihad and terrorism.

Proof of this can be found in the word of an essay on the Luton Muslim Community website, which is in the forefront of waging the campaign to free Ahmad. The essay can be found in it's entirety below: Excerpts from "The Noblest Death- Shahada "

"...There are abundant examples from the lives of the companions of Prophet(SAW) which illustrate their burning desire to achieve martyrdom - and what a noble objective this is!

Also, in our time, many of the shining stars from the righteous of the Muslim nation have joined the caravan of martyrdom. These are the people whose blood testifies to their heroism and immense sacrifice; they are the martyrs of Bosnia, Kosova, Chechnya and before them Afghanistan, as well as many other Muslim lands..."

"...Today we Muslims and indeed the entire world can witness the greatness of martyrdom being illustrated in the uprising of Palestine in general and Al-Aqsa in particular. This kind of stance, which revives the magnitude and virtues of martyrdom in the heart of the Muslim nation, is exactly what we need at this time. It is vital that the Muslims exert every effort to spread the love for achieving martyrdom just like the pious early generations of Muslims did. We must continue on the same road that they were on, which is that of our Prophet(SAW) and indeed all the prophets before him, in order to support our religion and defeat our enemies.

O Muslims around the world! It is obligatory on you to support your brothers and sisters in every country where they are oppressed. Do not forsake them, rather listen to the saying of your Prophet(SAW): "Any Muslim who forsakes his fellow Muslim at a time when his honour and sanctity are being attacked will have Allah forsaking him at the time when needs His support the most. " (Ahmad & Abu Dawud)..." http://www.lutonmuslims.co.uk/mowtbest.htm

A study of the Luton Muslims community website shows why it is not surprising that several UK suicide bombers had ties to the city.On the Luton Muslim community website an essay extolling martyrdom contains this

.lt is no coincidence that the town is also a 'headquarters' for the group Al Muhajiroun. (whose leader, Omar Bakri Mohammed, fled the UK after the bombings).

The Luton Muslims website which has been campaigning for Ahmed's release, has sections which encourage martyrdom, going into detail about the virgins and rivers of wine- and advises readers to 'make amends as soon as they can to avoid hellfire', where the least punishment, readers are told is "having their brains boiled".

It should also be noted that Babar Ahmed has been linked to New Jersey Imam Mazen Mokhtar who ran Al Qaeda linked websites which mirrored those of Ahmad's.

Another supporter of Ahmad is the Islamic Observation Center, whose founder Yasser Al Sirri was arrested in 2001:

"The head of a London-based Islamic Center has been charged with complicity in the suicide bombing that killed Afghan opposition leader Ahmed Shah Massood. Yasser Tawfiq al-Sirri, 38, was detained on 23 October under Britain's new Terrorism Act. "

Extradite Babar Ahmed" decides Home Secretary
Press Release: 15th November 2005

We, the family of Babar Ahmad, have received today the news that the Home Secretary has decided to extradite Babar to the United States.

This is a sad day for Britain and an even sadder day for British Muslims. In effect this sends a message to British Muslims that there is no "legal and democratic" means to air your concerns: you must use other ways to get justice. We utilised every "legal and democratic means" to fight this decision. We held protests, wrote letters, lobbied MPs and compiled petitions of over 15,000 signatures, some even from as far away as New Zealand; but all of this amounted to nothing to the Government. This did however, show the world how many people have come together bravely in the fight for justice.

The US has clearly demonstrated to the world its total disregard for International Law. Vice-President Dick Cheney is seeking to legalise torture. Just today we have seen reports of Spain and other European countries launching investigations against the CIA. These all centre on claims that the CIA has been secretly kidnapping terror suspects to third countries to facilitate torture. If the floodgates for
extradition are allowed to be opened, it will be British Muslims that will be targeted; the very people the British Government was hoping to win support from in "the fight against terrorism."

Babar, speaking from Woodhill Prison in Milton Keynes, said today: "This decision should only come as a surprise to those who thought that there was still justice for Muslims in Britain. I entrust my affairs to Allah and His Words from the Quran, "And when the two armies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed we are finished." Moses said: "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord and He will guide me."'[Surah Ash-Shu'ara: Ayah 61-62]

O Allah, You have seen what they have done to me. O Allah, avenge my injustice. In Allah we put our trust."

The family will be appealing against this prejudiced decision at the High Court. Our resolve remains firm in the fight for justice for Babar.

MIM: This excerpt from a WPost article detail the charges against Ahmad and show that he was part of an Al Qaeda terrorist network which included the terrorists behind the first and second WTC bombings.

"...Ahmad, who lives in south London and works at Imperial College there, was arrested by British police last December and held for six days under suspicion of terrorism. At that time, Fernandes told the court, investigators searching his house found the naval documents, which suggested planning for an attack similar to that carried out against the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000..."

The wave of arrests was reportedly triggered by the June 12 capture of Abu Musab al Baluchi, nephew of Khalid Sheik Mohammed and a cousin of Ramzi Yousef, who organized the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Baluchi was previously identified by Pakistani authorities as Mussad Aruchi.

"...Baluchi's arrest led to the capture in Pakistan of Khan, 25, a computer engineer, and Ahmed Kahlfan Gailani, a Tanzanian. Khan was a frequent visitor to Britain, and officials at City University in London have confirmed that he enrolled there last year, although he dropped out after a few weeks.

The charges against Ahmad are similar to charges the federal government pursued unsuccessfully this spring against a Saudi doctoral student at the University of Idaho. Sami Omar Hussayen was acquitted of allegations he sought to provide material support for terrorists by running an Internet network that sought to raise money and recruit fighters for holy war in Chechnya and Palestine. Hussayen argued that his maintenance of Islamic Web sites was constitutionally protected free speech.

But Hussayen's Islamway Web site offered some scholarly material as well as support for jihad, while the sites that Ahmad administered -- www.azzam.comand www.qoqaz.net -- were described by a Justice Department official as "more operational."

The court documents indicate that Ahmad allegedly worked with a New Brunswick, N.J., man who made backup copies of the site..."

'Jihadist' computer expert cleared for extradition to US
By Sam Knight
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1874813,00.html

Charles Clarke today ordered the extradition of a computer expert from South London who is wanted in America for running a cluster of websites that allegedly supported terrorism and attacks on US servicemen.

Babar Ahmad, 31, from Tooting was arrested in August 2004 on an American extradition warrant. In October last year, the US Justice Department indicted him for using the internet to support the Taleban and Chechen jihadists, money-laundering and conspiring to kill persons in a foreign country.

Mr Ahmad has always protested his innocence and his supporters have conducted a vociferous campaign in his defence. In May, Mr Ahmad, who is in custody at Woodhill high security prison near Milton Keynes, ran for parliament in the Labour constituency of Brent North, winning 685 votes.

But today the Home Office confirmed that he would be extradited to face trial in Connecticut, where he faces life imprisonment if convicted of any of the charges against him. One of the internet service providers used by Mr Ahmad was headquartered in the state.

"There have been a couple of extensions in this case and having looked carefully at all the representations, the Home Secretary decided there aren't any bars to this extradition," said a Home Office spokeswoman this morning.

In May, Bow Street Magistrates' Court approved Mr Ahmad's extradition after receiving assurances from US authorities that they would not seek the death penalty, torture him in a third country or declare him an "enemy combatant" and imprison him at Guantanamo Bay on Cuba.

But in his ruling, Judge Timothy Workman said that Mr Ahmad's case raised complicated issues that should be explored by the High Court. Since 2003, American authorities have been able to request the extradition of British citizens without having to present any evidence in court.

Mr Ahmad's campaign reacted with dismay to today's news, promising to challenge the Home Secretary's decision in the High Court. If necessary, Mr Ahmad can take his case to the House of Lords.

Speaking from prison, Mr Ahmad said: "This decision should only come as a surprise to those who thought that there was still justice for Muslims in Britain. I entrust my affairs to Allah and His Words from the Koran."

First arrested by British police in December 2003 but released without charge, Mr Ahmad is accused of running a network of websites from 1997 to 2004 that supported "terrorist causes" in Afghanistan and elsewhere.

On www.azzam.com, a website he allegedly ran from an address in Fountain Road, Tooting, Mr Ahmad told readers that: "Muslims must use every means at their disposal to undertake military and physical training for jihad."

The US Government alleges that Mr Ahmad posted firearms training and travel advice for young Muslims seeking to fight in Chechnya and Afghanistan and sought to raise money for the Taleban and Chechen rebel groups. He is also accused of distributing CDs and videos glorifying jihad.

According to his indictment, e-mails from Mr Ahmad's accounts included "discussions regarding donations; shipments of gas masks; procurement of night vision goggles; safe routes into Afghanistan and the type of personnel needed to support the jihad".

The battle to banish Babar Ahmad
Home Secretary Charles Clarke has authorised Babar Ahmad's extradition to face terrorism charges in the US.

The decision follows a long fight by the US for his removal and by Mr Ahmad and his supporters against the move.

The 31-year-old computer expert from Tooting, south London, is accused of running websites supporting terrorism and urging Muslims to fight a holy war.

He was arrested under anti-terror laws in August 2004 and charged with terror crimes by a US court two months later.

He was previously arrested under anti-terror laws in December 2003, but was released without charge - a move his supporters say proves his innocence.

His lawyers say Mr Ahmad denies the charges and his father Ashfaq Ahmad, has said his son is "totally innocent" and the case against him "ridiculous".

His lawyers also say Mr Ahmad, who is being held in Woodhill Prison, Milton Keynes, would be at risk of the death penalty if he was sent to the US.

Websites claim

Last autumn a Connecticut court charged Mr Ahmad, a British citizen, with supporting terrorism, conspiring to kill Americans and of money laundering.

The charges were brought in the US as Mr Ahmad allegedly used US-based websites to recruit fighters for causes in Afghanistan and Chechnya.

In claims dating back to 1997, the US government accused Mr Ahmad of "conspiring to support terrorism", saying he "sought, invited and solicited contributions" via websites and e-mails.

The US Department of State has claimed he ran several websites urging Muslims to use "every means at their disposal" to train for jihad, or holy war.

It is also alleged Mr Ahmad tried to set up a terrorist training camp in Arizona.

The websites allegedly encouraged people to train in street combat, land mine operations and sniper combat.

"If you're supporting the Taleban and the Taleban is killing American soldiers, we're alleging you're conspiring to kill American citizens abroad," Connecticut US Attorney Kevin O'Connor said in October 2004.

Mr Ahmad also had classified military documents describing the movements and formations of a Navy battle group and was in e-mail contact with an enlisted man aboard the USS Benfold, a Navy destroyer, US authorities said.

He was also charged with maintaining e-mail contact with a Chechen rebel leader.

John Hardy appeared for the US State department at Mr Ahmad's extradition hearing in March.

He told the hearing that one site, called azzam.com, which operated via US service providers from 1997 to 2003, included a posting reading: "Military training is an Islamic obligation, not an option."

It also carried a declaration of war against US forces in the Arabian peninsular from Osama bin Laden, Mr Hardy said.

He said another site carried an appeal for "tens of thousands" of gas masks and nuclear, chemical and biological warfare suits.

New laws

In May 2005, a District Court judge ruled Mr Ahmed could be extradited and the case was sent to the home secretary for final approval.

The order comes under UK legislation designed to speed up the extradition of suspected terrorists, which came into force in January 2004.

Ashfaq Ahmad Babar Ahmad's father says the case against his son is "ridiculous".

Under the act there is no requirement for US authorities to represent a prima facie case - although UK authorities must do so in seeking extraditions from the US.

Mr Ahmad, his family and supporters, have waged a long fight against his extradition, which has included letters and public campaigns.

His family have already said they would appeal against the extradition order in the High Court.

In August 2004 his father, a retired civil servant, said his son was "an average, law-abiding young man who has never been in trouble".

Mr Ahmad, 69, also told the BBC News website: "I am no match for the resources of the United States, but I will do everything in my power to help my son."

He added: "My son is not a terrorist - he is junior IT support officer."

His campaign has also won support from Martin Mubanga, a British man held in Guantanamo Bay for nearly three years.

He joined protesters outside court at the hearing in March. Mr Mubanga, 32, said Mr Ahmad would not get a fair trial in the US and called for the extradition requests to be denied.

Terror suspect 'had naval plans'

A police van takes Babar Ahmad to court Babar Ahmad is being held at a police station in London
Lawyers trying to extradite a British man to the US on terrorism charges have told a court he was found in possession of US naval intelligence.

Babar Ahmad, 30, of Tooting, London, was remanded in custody for a week by Bow Street magistrates on Friday.

It is alleged he used US websites and emails to solicit support for "acts of terrorism" in Chechnya and Afghanistan.

Details of US warship formations in the Gulf had also been found during an earlier arrest, the court heard.

Anti-terror laws

British police had arrested Mr Ahmad, but released him without charge in December 2003.

Bow Street Magistrates' Court was told documents containing details of US warship formations in the Gulf were found near him during that arrest.

Rosemary Fernandes, appearing on behalf of the US government, told the court the documents, verified as "genuine" by the US navy, noted the ships were vulnerable to a small craft carrying rocket-propelled grenades.

She also said Mr Ahmad had links to a mole on board a US navy vessel.

Mr Ahmad is also accused of trying to drum up support and money for Taleban fighters in Afghanistan, using websites and emails.

Moscow attack

They allegedly showed how money could be hand delivered to Taleban officials and how volunteers could travel to Afghanistan to fight.

He is also said to have had email links to a Chechen Mujahideen leader who planned the Moscow theatre attack in October 2002 in which 129 people died.

But Carolina Guiloff, defending, said Ahmad was an educated professional man with no previous convictions who had lived in Britain all his life.

Mr Ahmad, who is said to work with computers at Imperial College London, was arrested under anti-terror laws in South Kensington on Thursday and is being held on a US extradition warrant.

He faces four charges carrying sentences of between 10 years and life imprisonment relating to alleged offences between 1998 and 2003.

His case is not thought to be linked to 12 terror arrests on Tuesday.

Extradition request

He told the court he found the charges against him "a bit confusing" but made it clear he did not want to be extradited to the US.

Outside court one of the defence team, Muddassar Arani, said they were concerned about the extradition request.

She said: "It appears that anybody who is arrested in this country in relation to terrorism offences, when there's not sufficient evidence to prosecute...those individuals' extraditions are being sought by America."

One of Mr Ahmad's sisters, who did not want to publicise her name, said she was "shocked" when the police arrived at her home after arresting her brother.

She told The Muslim News she had to leave her house and said police did not tell her the search was completed until midnight.

Mr Ahmad's sister said: "There is no proof of his involvement in terrorism. It is all lies."

The authorities are likely to be granted 65 days to prepare the case for extradition.

MIM: This article urging martyrdom to "protect Allah's religion and his book "appears on the Luton Muslim community website which is waging the campaign to Free Babar Ahmad:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.lutonmuslims.co.uk/mowtbest.htm

"(He) Who created death and life, that He may test which of you is best in deed. He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving."{Surah Al-Mulk: Ayah 2}

The noblest death - Shahadah

O Muslims! Achieving noble and lofty objectives require enormous sacrifices in proportion. There can be no doubt that the higher an objective is, the greater its sacrifice must be. Therefore, if ones ultimate objective is to please Allah and hope to be granted Paradise, then defending Allah's religion and protecting His Book and sacred places ranks highest in attempting to attain His pleasure.

Sacrifice comes in many shapes, forms and levels, it can be performed through many different channels, but there is no doubt that the sacrificing of one's soul for the sake of Allah in order to defeat His enemies and support Islam is the very highest level. This is of course Shahadah, or martyrdom. The Prophet(SAW) exerted maximum effort to instil the magnitude of Shahadah as well as the concept of Jihad deep into the hearts of his companions and his followers who were to come after him. He(SAW) used two methods in order to achieve this objective:

Firstly: By repeatedly declaring his deep love and fervent wish for Shahadah. Abu Hurayrah(RA) narrated that the Prophet(SAW) said: "I swear by the One in Whose Hands my soul is, I wish that I would fight for the sake of Allah (i.e., Jihad ) and get martyred, then return and fight again and get martyred, then return and fight again and get martyred" (Bukhari & Muslim) What a wonderful wish coming from the purest of hearts! This is nothing except a reflection of deep love and overwhelming desire; a desire to attain Shahadah, which is one of the greatest paths to Paradise.

Secondly: By explaining the virtues of Shahadah and the ranks of the martyrs in Paradise as well as descriptions of their bounties, such as in the Hadeeth when Marwan said: "We asked 'Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud(RA) about the following verse: (which translates as): "And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision." (Aal-'Imran: 169).'He(RA) replied: "We asked the Prophet(SAW) about this verse and he replied: "Their (i.e., the martyrs souls) will live inside green birds that dwell in designated lamps which hang on the throne of Allah, they will roam freely in Paradise as they please, then return to these lamps"" (Muslim).

Ubada bin Samit (RA) narrates, that the Prophet (SAW) said, "The Shaheed is granted seven gifts from Allah(SWT) -
1. He is forgiven at the first drop of his blood.
2. He sees his status in Jannah (Paradise).
3. He is dressed in the clothes of Iman.
4. He is safe from the punishment of the grave.
5. He will be safe from the great fear of the Day of Judgement.
6. A crown of honour will be placed on his head.
7. He will intercede on behalf of 70 members of his family.
(Musnad Ahmed Tabrani, at-Targheeb wa at-Tarheeb, p.443, vol.2)

The pain that a martyr feels at the time of death will be reduced so greatly that he will only feel as if he was stung by a mosquito. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet(SAW) said: "A martyr only feels from the effect of being killed that which one would when being stung by a mosquito." (Tirmidhi, Nasa'i and others).

Moreover, the finest dwellings in Paradise are those of the martyrs. Samurah Ibn Jundub(RA) narrated that the Prophet(SAW) said: "Last night I was inspired (through a dream); I saw two men come to me and take me up a tree (in Paradise) then into a dwelling which was the best I have ever seen; they informed me that it was the dwelling of the martyrs." (Bukhari).

Also, the angels spread their wings over the body of a martyr as a form of honour, dignity and respect. Jabir Ibn 'Abdullah(RA) narrated: "My father's body was brought to the Prophet(SAW) on the day of Uhud. The disbelievers had mutilated it; I went to uncover his face when some of my family members stopped me. Then the Prophet(SAW) heard a woman crying, so he said:"Why are you crying? Do not cry, the angels are continuing to shade him"".

Among all the dwellers of Paradise, only the martyrs would wish to return to this life. This is due to the immense rewards and respect that have been mentioned in the previous Ahadith. Anas bin Malik(RA) narrated that the Prophet(SAW) said:
"Nobody who enters Paradise would ever wish to return to this life again, even if he was to be given the whole world and everything in it - except for a martyr; for he would wish to return and get killed ten times due to the honour that he received (in Paradise)."

and in another narration: "For what he finds as virtues of martyrdom." (Bukhari & Muslim).

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that these poignant prophetic words had such a great impact on the hearts of the pious chosen generation of the companions of the Prophet(SAW). It deeply instilled the concepts of Shahadah into their hearts along with the fervent wish of achieving this exalted status, so they toiled continuously to achieve it. There are a multitude of stories that demonstrate this, for example: Anas bin Maalik(RA) narrated:

"The Prophet(SAW) took off with his companions and they beat the polytheists in reaching Badr. When the polytheists arrived there, the Prophet(SAW) said: "None of you should do anything until I proceed." Then, when the disbelievers came closer to them, the Prophet(SAW) said: "Rise to Paradise, which is as wide as the distance between the heavens and the earth." 'Umayr Ibn Al-Hamam(RA) asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, is it really as wide than the heavens and earth?' He(SAW) replied: "Yes." Thereupon 'Umayr said: 'Bakh Bakh.' (an expression reflecting astonishment). The Prophet(SAW) asked: "What made you say Bakh Bakh?" He said: 'Nothing, except the desire to be of its dwellers.' The Prophet(SAW) said: "You will be of its people." Then 'Umayr(RA) took out some dates which he had in his arrow pouch and started eating them, then he stopped and said to himself: 'Indeed it would a too long a life for me if I were to live long enough to finish eating these dates' - then he threw them away and fought until he was killed."

Just look at how this companion viewed the few moments needed for eating dates as being too long a time to live! The words of people like these at the time of their martyrdom were as powerful as earthquakes, so much so that in some cases, words like these resulted in their enemies embracing Islam such as in the following narration:

Haraam Ibn Malhan(RA) was one of a group of companions of the Prophet(SAW) who had memorised the Qur'an and were experts in it. The Prophet(SAW) dispatched seventy of this group to inform a group of polytheist tribes about Islam and recite the Qur'an to them. However the tribes of Ra'l and Dhikwan from among these polytheist tribes betrayed and slaughtered the whole group of companions near a well called Ma'unah. As Haram(RA) was being killed, he screamed in front of his killer: "I swear by the Lord of Al-Ka'bah that I won!"After this, his killer went about asking people what these words meant (i.e., that Haram had won) until he was told that what Haram(RA) meant was that he had attained martyrdom. Due to this, the killer embraced Islam. This narration was mentioned in the book of Bukhari.

Some of the companions of the Prophet(SAW) would smell the scent of Paradise and it would make them unable to control their desire to fight strongly and valiantly to the death. Anas Ibn Malik(RA) said: "My uncle Anas Ibn An-Nadhr(RA) missed the battle of Badr, so he said to the Prophet(SAW): 'O messenger of Allah, I missed the first battle that you fought against the polytheists, but if Allah allows me to participate in the next one, then He will see what I can do.' Then, after the day of the battle of Uhud when the some Muslims retreated he went forth saying: 'O Allah I seek your forgiveness for what they have done (i.e., the Muslims for retreating) and I disassociate myself from what those have done (i.e., the polytheists for killing the Muslims)', as he continued going forth, he came across Sa'd Ibn Mu'adh(RA) and said: 'O Sa'd! I swear by the Lord of the tribe of An-Nadhr, it is Paradise (i.e., the reward for martyrdom). I can smell its fragrance close to Uhud.'" After the battle, Sa'd Ibn Mu'adh told the Prophet(SAW): "I swear By Allah, on that day I could not perform as he did." Anas Ibn Malik(RA) continued: "(After the battle) we found more than eighty gashes on his (i.e., Anas Ibn An-Nadhr's) body which were the result of swords, arrows and spears. In fact, the polytheists had mutilated his body so much that nobody could recognise who it was, except his sister, who identified him from his fingers." (Bukhari & Muslim).

Shaddad Ibn Al-Haad(RA) narrated: "A Bedouin came to the Prophet(SAW), accepted Islam and said: 'I wish to migrate (to Madinah)'. So the Prophet(SAW) asked some of his companions to take care of him. Then after a battle, the Muslims had gained some booty so the Prophet(SAW) divided it and gave the Bedouin's share to some of his companions to look after, as the Bedouin was still at the rearguard. When the Bedouin returned, they gave him his share, so he asked them: 'What is this?' they replied: 'It is your share from the booty which the Prophet(SAW) gave us to hold on to for you.' So the Bedouin took the booty and went to the Prophet(SAW) and asked: 'What is this?' The Prophet(SAW) replied: "Your share of the booty." The Bedouin said: 'This is not why I believe in you and follow you; rather, I follow you so that I can get shot by an arrow right here, (and then he pointed to his throat) then die and enter Paradise.' The Prophet(SAW) said: "If you are sincere then Allah will grant you your wish."After a short while, fighting resumed and the Bedouins body was brought to the Prophet(SAW) with an arrow in his throat at exactly the spot where he had pointed to the Prophet(SAW). Thereupon The Prophet(SAW) said: "He was sincere so Allah granted him his wish." Then using his own garment, the Prophet(SAW) shrouded the Bedouin, prayed the funeral prayer over him and was heard by his companions to say during the prayer: "O Allah! This is Your slave who migrated for Your sake and was killed as a martyr - and I testify to this".

Which testimony could ever be more honourable, sincere and truthful than this great one given by the Prophet(SAW)?

There are abundant examples from the lives of the companions of Prophet(SAW) which illustrate their burning desire to achieve martyrdom - and what a noble objective this is!

Also, in our time, many of the shining stars from the righteous of the Muslim nation have joined the caravan of martyrdom. These are the people whose blood testifies to their heroism and immense sacrifice; they are the martyrs of Bosnia, Kosova, Chechnya and before them Afghanistan, as well as many other Muslim lands.

Today we Muslims and indeed the entire world can witness the greatness of martyrdom being illustrated in the uprising of Palestine in general and Al-Aqsa in particular.

Any Muslim who supports his fellow Muslim at a time when his honour and sanctity are being attacked will have Allah supporting him at the time when needs His support the most." (Ahmad & Abu Dawud).

Narrated Anas bin Malik (RA), Ummur Rubay bint al-Bara (the mother of Haritha bin Suraqa) came to the Prophet (SAW and said, "O Allah's Prophet! Will you tell me about Haritha? Haritha has been killed (Shaheed) on the day of Badr with an arrow fired by an unidentified person." She added, "If he is in Paradise I will be patient, otherwise I will weep bitterly for him." He said, "O mother of Haritha! There are gardens in Paradise and your son got Firdaus al-'Ala (ie the best place of Paradise)." (Sahih Bukhari, p.394, vol.1)

When the time of Khalid (RA) came to depart from the world, he said, "I reached every possible place for Shahadah, but it was written in my fate that I should die of my bed. In my opinion there is no deed more dearer than my waiting with my horse and shield in the darkness of night, the sky to be glittering due to the rain, waiting for the onset of dawn, so that I can attack the enemy." (al Jihaad, Ibn al Mubarak, p.88)

"Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'aan. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment." (Surah At-Tawbah: Ayah 111).
