GAZA, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Palestinians from the ruling Fatah party armed with assault rifles converged on the Gaza parliament building on Sunday to demand jobs in a protest that underlined challenges ahead for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas has vowed to crack down on worsening internal lawlessness and faces pressure to rein in militants during Israel's pullout from the occupied Gaza Strip in order to maintain stability and advance peacemaking efforts. But he has shied from direct confrontations with gunmen. At least 200 al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades gunmen, most dressed in black, demanded jobs while accusing officials of corruption. Some fired into the air. The protesters came close to scuffles with police before commanders on both sides ordered calm. They then dispersed.

MIM:More proof if any is needed that the secular Israelis who have made democracy their religion would rather turn over Israel to the Arabs then see it run according to Jewish religious precepts. Dalia's Itzhik's comment telling Danny Naveh -" not to preach morality to us", after he criticised the defense minister's praise of Mazens shows that the Israeli left is so paranoid that even the word 'morality' is offensive to them. Dalia Itzhik, who is married, raised eyebrows when she appointed a young man to be her secretary and 'close assistant'.

(IsraelNN.com) Health Minister (Likud) at the Sunday morning weekly cabinet meeting rejected Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz's remarks in praise of Palestinian Authority (PA) leader Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).
Naveh questioned if the defense minister heard the PA leader's now-famous "jihad address" over the weekend or the documented inaction by the PA to fulfill any of its requirements vis-à-vis dismantling terrorism?
In a curt remark, Labor Minister Dalia Itzik told Naveh, "I hear the Likud central committee in your throat. Just sit quietly and don't try to preach morality to us!"
