AMA SUPPORTS ACLU CALL TO ‘FIX THE PATRIOT ACT'
Newark, CA – 1-/21/03: The American Muslim Alliance (AMA) has
endorsed a call by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to
mobilize the civil rights communities in America to urge the US
Congress to fix the Patriot Act as it is being used for increasingly
greater intimidation and harassment of individuals and communities,
particularly the Muslim Americans and Arab Americans.
Note the hands turned in supplication to Allah holding up the world .

MIM: Sami Al Arian, the jailed founder of the American wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad,was a featured speaker at the 2002 AMA conference billed as "Muslim Americans:"Citizenship to Partnership".
In 2003 Al Arian was arrested and held without bail on terrorism charges.The indictment included 99 counts of murder as the result of terrorism attacks which he orchestrated and financed.

A group of young Muslims gathers at a camp in the mountains, undergoing training, learning survival skills, and practice exercises meant to make them better Muslims. Is it a secret terrorist training camp in the back woods? No, its one of the many Muslim Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops across North America, combining Scouting ideals with Islamic ones. For over 20 years, Muslim parents have been seeking a place at the Scouting table, eager to integrate Muslim youth into American society without compromising their religious ideals. (The Boy Scouts, on the other hand, like Muslim scouts because they aren't athiests and frown on homosexuality.) Now there are troops all over the place, with national Muslim scouting organizations helping to grow the number of Muslim troops. Muslim scouts are regularly visible at Jamborees, winning awards and offering BSA-certified Islamic badges with names like "In the Name of God" and "Bismillah". There's even an animated series chronicling the adventures of Muslim scouts. Scouting in the Muslim community has already produced some admirable Muslim role models, such as recent Harvard grad Zayed Yasin and Noorain Khan, who was recently honored by Senator Carl Levin on the floor of the Senate for her work with the Girl Scouts.
