January 15, 2014 – San Francisco, CA – PipeLineNews.org – It would be a grave error to assume that the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's report on Benghazi published today provides a clear understanding of the tragic events surrounding the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya.

Much to his credit, Rep. Frank Wolf is pointing out the deficient nature of the Senate Committee's partisan whitewash.

Wolf has been among the leading voices on the Hill, demanding that a House Special Select Committee be created to get to the bottom of this affair.

Mr. Wolf provided a blistering critique of the report's obvious deficiencies:

"Perhaps the most telling part of the report is in the ‘additional views' section, which points out that ‘important questions remain unanswered as a direct result of the Obama Administration's failure to provide the committee with access to necessary documents and witnesses.' This is unacceptable. The report also fails to even broach the subject of just what the CIA was doing Benghazi. Amazingly, it said that while some in the Department of Defense may have known of the CIA facility, neither AFRICOM nor its Commander ‘were aware of an annex in Benghazi, Libya.'

As has been case throughout the Obama administration, no one is ever held accountable and heads never roll.

Regarding that matter Wolf sates, "I also remain deeply troubled that no one has been held accountable for what happened that night. I have spoken with family members of those killed and they have made it clear that accountability is what they want most."

Legislation drafted by the Congressman [HR 36] which would create a House Select Committee has been making its way through Congress and now has 180 cosponsors. It's been endorsed by The American Legion, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal and respected national security professionals.

The measure is strongly supported by the families of those who lost their life on that evening 16 months ago – who deserve nothing less.

The party standing in the way of HR 36 is House Speaker Boehner. We have very strong suspicions regarding why he has been so vehement in his opposition to a bill which is so obviously in the national interest, but will hold off for a while before we delve into that matter.

In the meantime perhaps the Speaker should consider that his continued opposition is untenable If Mr. Boehner refuses to explain in detail exactly what he knew about Benghazi before the incident – and under what circumstances - in a forthright manner and soon, he will likely lose his position when the truth inevitably comes out.
