Nigeria Starts Process Of Amnesty For Boko Haram Butchers

April 18, 2013

April 18, 2013 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Demonstrative of the basic reason why al-Qaeda and other Islamic terror groups have quickly regrouped, after having been defeated in Iraq - a weak central governing authority, Nigeria which has seen thousands of its citizens butchered by Boko Haram, is attempting to implement an amnesty arrangement with the group.
"...Nigeria's federal government has set up a special inter-agency committee to discuss the possibility of granting amnesty to members of the Islamic sect Boko Haram..."If amnesty is eventually considered as an option, the committee is also expected to make recommendations regarding the modalities to be employed in handing the amnesty," a top official of the presidency said...The meeting was called to discuss the increasing activities of the sect, which has killed over 3,000 people since it started its armed campaign in 2009..." [source, Nigeria considers amnesty for Boko Haram, African Manager, African news website]
The Muslim terrorist group is an al-Qaeda affiliate and has been savagely brutalizing Nigerian citizens for nearly 5 years. The list of atrocities committed by its members is horrifying, even by African standards where machete attacks are so commonplace that they no longer even rise to the level of "news" on that continent.

Of course the Nigerian people have not been consulted on this matter, we have a suspicion that such a decision would have little support.

Nigerian Catholic Bishops are alarmed that this event may occur and have spoken out [about 40% of Nigeria's approximate population of 175M are Roman Catholic and 50% are Muslim] against the concept.

"...Several Catholic bishops warned the Nigerian government to be wary of the consequences of granting amnesty to Boko Haram, a sect that wants to impose strict Islamic law, and at least one said Mass attendance had dropped because the Islamist sect often targeted churches... Archbishop Felix Alaba Job of Ibadan, referring to Boko Haram's targeting of civilians, questioned why the government should "grant amnesty to vandals of human souls and bodies..." [source, Peter Ajayi Dada, Nigerian bishops: Government should be wary of amnesty for Boko Haram, Catholic News Service]
The protocol established by the Nigerian government - in hopes on ending the bloody war - requires that members of the group disarm within 60 days.
"...Members of the Boko Haram sect will be given a 60-day window within which to disarm under a Federal Government dialogue and amnesty programme announced yesterday..." [source, Isiaka Wakili And Ismail Mudashir, Boko Haram to Get 60 Days to Disarm, All Africa news website]
We predict that this effort will fail, not because of any intransigence by the Nigerian government, because Islamists, like leftists, can't be bought off, the issue is never the issue the issue is always the revolution...and Islamism is without a doubt a revolutionary ideology of domination.

The worst case scenario, which we also predict - assuming that this amnesty process goes forward - is exactly what happens when Israel temporarily halts operations against Hamas; the terrorists will take advantage of the temporary lull and use the period to re-arm, re-deploy its forces and come back stronger than at the beginning of this sham amnesty period..

Boko Haram and its brethren will view this development only one way, a sure sign that total victory is within reach.
