Family of Syria Goer Files Complaint
The family of a 19 year old youth from Antwerp who went to fight in Syria wants the Belgian Justice ministry to take action against the people who recruited him. The mother, sister and aunt of the youth filed the complaint.
The Belgian Brian de Mulder converted to Islam and then had a lot of contact with the radical Muslim organisation Sharia 4 Belgium. The family suspects that the organisation brainwashed him.
The mother, sister and aunt held a press conference together with the Vlaams Belang head Filip Dewinter. According to them they could find no one else who would listen.
'We want the recruitment to stop'
The women pointed to the international treaties which forbid the recruitment, placing and financing of mercenaries. De Mulder's aunt said that the complaint came out of concern about the fate of the youth but also to prevent similiar cases in the future.
"We want the recruitment to stop" said the sister at the press conference.
According to Dewinter the Belgian government has blood on their hands. "These youths are brainwashed. That is the result of the weak approach to radical Islam in our country."

De Belgische Brian de Mulder bekeerde zich tot de islam en had daarna veelvuldig contact met de radicale moslimorganisatie Sharia4Belgium. De familie vermoedt dat de organisatie hem heeft gehersenspoeld.
De moeder, zus en tante hielden een persconferentie samen met VlaamsBelang-kopstuk Filip Dewinter. Naar eigen zeggen konden ze nergens anders terecht.
'Wij willen dat het ronselen stopt'
De vrouwen wezen erop dat er internationale verdragen zijn tegen het werven, inzetten en financieren van huurlingen. De tante van De Mulder zegt dat de klacht er komt uit bezorgdheid over het lot van de jongen maar ook om vergelijkbare gevallen in de toekomst te voorkomen. "Wij willen dat het ronselen stopt", zei de zus op de persconferentie.
Volgens Dewinter heeft de Belgische overheid bloed aan zijn handen. "Deze jongeren zijn gebrainwasht. Dat is een gevolg van de lakse aanpak van de radicale islam in ons land."
