Arabs threw either a firebomb or a sharp rock at a train of the Jerusalem Light Rail as it was passing through the Arab Beit Hanina neighborhood on Thursday evening. No one was hurt and the driver continued driving to the next station.

Rescue and police forces arrived at the scene and a senior officer determined that a sharp rock had been thrown at the train. Others officials said, however, that it was a firebomb that failed to ignite.

Thursday's incident was the third terrorist act against the Light Rail in the past week. Last Friday, police were called to check a suspicious package on the Light Rail. Police sappers who were called to the scene discovered that the package was a dud. On Monday, a suspicious bag was discovered on the Light Rail. It, too, turned out to be a dud.

Earlier on Thursday evening, it was reported that rocks had been thrown at a bus near Herod's Gate in Jerusalem. There were no injuries or damage. Police searched the area but did not arrest any suspects.

A female Arab terrorist attempted to murder an Israel Border Guard on Sultan Suleiman Street in Jerusalem on Thursday morning.

The Arab attacked the officer with a knife outside a police station on the street. The officer fought back his attacker, and was lightly wounded. The terrorist was subdued by several officers near the building.

The phenomenon of attacks on the roads of Judea, Samaria and outlying neighborhoods of Jerusalem by Palestinian Authority Arabs hurling rocks, firebombs and even at times firing gunshots at Israeli motorists has increased exponentially over the past several months.

When Operation Pillar of Defense against the Hamas terrorist rulers of Gaza began, the attacks increased still more. In one case, a woman was sent into traumatic shock when her vehicle came under a rock attack by Palestinian Authority road terrorists.

On Wednesday night, terrorists opened fire at an Israeli bus at the Gush Etzion junction.

No one was hurt in the incident, but the bus was damaged. A later inspection of the bus found holes from a bullet on its walls.

A series of firebomb and rock attacks on Monday targeted both IDF soldiers as well as Jewish residents in the region.

Even before Operation Pillar of Defense started, there was a surge in firebomb attacks in Judea and Samaria.

According to the monthly report by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), 68 out of 70 terror attacks in Judea and Samaria during October were firebomb attacks.
