PA Not Disarming Hamas, Israel Charges Wednesday, March 30, 2005

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=79307

(IsraelNN.com) Instead of living up to its commitment to stop terror and disarm terror organizations, the Palestinian Authority has allowed Hamas to rearm and even to procure newer and more powerful weaponry, Israel charges. In the past few days alone, Hamas has smuggled in 600 rifles and many ammunition clips, and there is also critical evidence that it has anti-aircraft missiles in its store along with Kassam rockets.

During Prime MinisterAriel Sharon's April trip to the US, he is planning to brief US President George W. Bush about the PA failure and strongly advice him not to pressure Israel to proceed with the implementation of the road map until the PA acts to stop terror decisively.

Israel has to return Palestinian lands: Abbas

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has said that Israel has to return Palestinian lands that were occupied in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War.

"The lands are the dearest thing we possess and Israel has to give them back to us as well as our legitimate rights," Abbas was quoted by the al Ayyam daily as saying.

Abbas said the Palestinian people should protect them from settlement activities, while strongly condemning Israel's settlement activities in the Palestinian lands.

Asked about the Palestinian National Authority's efforts in the reform process, he said, "The reform process is moving in all directions, but the results need time to show."

Terror Attempts Resume in Gaza

Wednesday, March 30, 2005

The end of the short "hudna" period – temporary ceasefire – appears to be in sight, at least to terrorist elements in Gaza. They are engaged in smuggling weapons and testing the IDF's alertness.

After a lull in attempted Arab arms smuggling across the Gaza-Egyptian border, IDF soldiers have stopped several such attempts in the past few days. After midnight last night, IDF forces arrested three smugglers at the Israeli-Egyptian border, and confiscated their contraband: Ten Kalachnikov rifles and 24 pistols, and ammunition for same.

Earlier Tuesday evening, an IDF unit captured an Arab terrorist as he crossed through the border fence between Israel and Egypt near Rafiah. The Arab was smuggling tens of pistols, a sniper rifle, and ammunition to PA-controlled areas. See pictures displaying the weapons he was smuggling.

This morning, five unarmed Arabs were caught trying to infiltrate into pre-'67 Israel from northern Gaza. It is assumed that they were attempting to test the Israeli forces' alertness in the area.

Also this morning, gunfire was directed at an IDF outpost near Rafiach, in southern Gaza. No one was hurt.
