noinfuse">MIM: A debate with the shari'a expert sheik Haitham al- Haddad was cancelled by the Free University. An academic debate with the sheik is no longer possible because so much discussion has swirled around him.
noinfuse">A spokesman from the Free University announced this on Wednesday. Al-Haddad would have taken part in a symposium from the Muslim Student Union at the Free University.
noinfuse">A majority in the parliament was against the arrivial of the shari'a expert because he is known for his explicit anti semitic comments..The Center for Information and Documentation Israel (CIDI) has also called for the sheik to be excluded.
noinfuse">The sheik has called Jews among other things 'enemies of god and the descendents of apes and pigs'.He also claims that 'Jews are one of the armies of the devil' and proclaims that it is necessary 'to hate Jews and Christians'.
noinfuse">The CIDI does not have anything good to say about him 'Al-Haddad is a member of the British shari'a court and pleads in front of the BBC for fatwas such as stoning and hacking off of hands and finds it correct that the testimony of a woman is only worth half as much as a man.'

noinfuse">Een debat met de Britse islamitische rechtsgeleerde sjeik Haitham al-Haddad is door de Vrije Universiteit (VU) afgelast. Een academisch debat met de sjeik zou niet meer mogelijk zijn omdat er zoveel discussie rond hem is ontstaan.

Dat heeft een woordvoerder van de VU woensdag bekendgemaakt. Al-Haddad zou vrijdag en zaterdag deelnemen aan een symposium van de Islamitische Studentenvereniging aan de VU.
Een meerderheid in de Tweede Kamer was tegen de komst van de shariageleerde omdat hij bekend staat om zijn expliciet antisemitische uitspraken. Het Centrum Informatie en Documentatie Israël (CIDI) heeft de VU ook opgeroepen de al-Haddad te weren.
Duivel
De sjeik heeft joden onder meer 'vijanden van God en de afstammelingen van apen en varkens' genoemd. Ook zegt hij dat 'joden een van de legers van de duivel' zijn en beweert hij dat het 'noodzakelijk is om joden en christenen te haten'.
Het CIDI heeft geen goed woord voor hem over: 'Al-Haddad is lid van een Britse shariarechtbank, bepleitte voor de BBC fatwa's als stenigen en handen afhakken en vindt het terecht dat de getuigenis van een vrouw maar half zo veel waard is als die van een man.'
