August 1, 2011 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - In a July 30 NY Times article [The Man Behind the Anti-Shariah Movement] Andrea Elliott devotes some 3,000 words to attacking the growing number of national security experts [including the former Director of the CIA, James Woolsey] who believe that Shari'a - Islamic religious law - represents a clear and present danger to American Constitutional government.
Elliott received a 2007 Pulitzer [feature writing] for her NY Times' series [March 5, 6 and 7, 2006] whitewashing an Islamist Brooklyn imam, Sheik Reda Shata. The sole intent of that endeavor seems to have been calculated to make Shata appear moderate, something very important to the multicultural thought police - after all, we can't have the actions and beliefs of domestic Muslims judged under the harsh light of traditional American or Western standards can we?
In the July 30 hit-piece, Elliott breathlessly lays out a supposed right-wing conspiracy theory, the purpose of which it seems is to make Muslim American second class citizens by denying them the right to practice their religion.
Rather than devoting additional ink to countering the impression Ms. Elliott sought to create, we will let David Yerushalmi, a leader in the American Laws for American Courts movement, speak to the need for banning Shari'a, and other foreign legal systems from having any impact on American jurisprudence.
