February 23 2011- Militant Islam Monitor-The Tunesian Jewish community is living in fear as protestors against the government shouted "Death to the Jews" during a recent demonstration. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/142490
There are between 1,600 and 2,000 Jews in Tunesia.
On February 1 a synagogue in Gabe was set on fire as well as Jewish owned cars. A Torah scroll was burned.
On February 15 the head of the Tunesian Jewish community asked for government protection after dozens of Muslims gathered outside the main synagogue after Friday prayers threatening Jewish congregants.
According to Israel National News:
Last Friday, a mob held an anti-Jewish rally outside the country's main synagogue. Dozens of Islamists shouted, "Jews wait, the army of Mohammed is coming back. "We'll redo the battle of Khaibar!" – a reference to the slaughter of Jews in what is now Saudi Arabia at the hands the founder of Islam.
