Iraq Christians Targeted by Terrorists

December 31, 2010

December 31 2010 - Militant Islam Monitor- An elderly Iraqi Christian couple were killed when a bomb was left on their doorstep and exploded when they answered the doorbell. The bombing was one of 7 attacks on Christian homes on Thursday which left 13 people wounded in Baghdad. Al Qaida has repeatedly threatened to attack the Christian community and drive them out of Iraq.

An October 31 suicide attack killed 68 congregants in Our Lady of Salvation Christian church. The US State Department estimates that there are between 400,000 to 600,000 Christians left in Iraq. Since 2003 thousands of Christians have fled Iraq.

According to the AP:

"The Christians in Iraq are always targeted because they do not have militias and they do not believe in the power of weapons," said Father Nadhir Dakko, a priest at St. George Chaldean Church, who performed the funeral service for the slain couple. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gJ5Y0MR9Yxe8hj1nC4MG9NHZ-EOQ?
