AP Provides Revisionist "Guidance" For its Journos On 911 Mosque Controversy

August 23, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - AP, in its offering of "guidance" [August 19, http://www.ap.org/pages/about/pressreleases/pr_081910b.html] to its reporters on the 911 mosque issue, shamelessly admits what most observant media commentators have already noted, that the organization has abandoned all pretense of objectivity, and joined the mad media rush to support - what Rush Limbaugh has so trenchantly termed - the "911 Ha-mosque" being pushed by stealth jihadist imam Faisal Rauf.

In this document, AP counsels its tyro journos, "We should continue to avoid the phrase "ground zero mosque" or "mosque at ground zero" on all platforms. (We've very rarely used this wording, except in slugs, though we sometimes see other news sources using the term.) The site of the proposed Islamic center and mosque is not at ground zero, but two blocks away in a busy commercial area. We should continue to say it's "near" ground zero, or two blocks away."

Not Ground Zero?

Fact: tens of thousands of body parts have so far been recovered, they were scattered all over Lower Manhattan. In a world of bias-free reporting this would give great credence to designating the entire area in and around the Twin Tower site as being Ground Zero.

As AP itself stated in 2006, "About 20,000 pieces of human remains were found..." [source, Associated Press via MSNBC, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15345694/]

The Daily Mail notes that these remains are strewn throughout the area surrounding the actual impact site, "The lab has also received hundreds of bone fragments discovered on the roof of a building just south of where the trade center had stood. The building had been condemned since the attacks and was about to be torn down when workers found the bone pieces." [source, Daily Mail, New Body Parts Found, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-411709/New-body-parts-Ground-Zero.html]

Fact: The Burlington building, the proposed location for the mosque was severely damaged by one of the airliners' landing gears on its glide path towards the WTC. This would seem to make the building not only part of Ground Zero but perhaps the largest remaining relic of the September 11 attack.

Says the Washington Times, "one of the 9/11 planes that smashed into the World Trade Center dropped its landing gear on the old Burlington Coat Factory building. It is likely those who were around the area included themselves in Ground Zero territory." The piece also notes that those who ran from the collapsing towers ran much farther than AP's efforts at demarcating the official site within limited confines would allow. [source, Washington Times, http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/watercooler/2010/aug/19/ap-reporters-refer-gz-mosque-nyc-mosque-now/]

If one cares to read it, the entirety of the AP advisory reeks of demonstrably false assertions, all part of a plan to - now that the effort to build a 911 mosque appears to be floundering - decouple Rauf's proposed site from its association with the events of September 11, 2001.

That effort will fail, as will the coincident efforts by American Islamists - with whom AP seems to be in league - to separate Islam from Muslim terror.

Hey guys, check the polls 210,000,000 Americans [70%] aren't buying the bilge, your brand of journalism is dead.
