AAH TO PROTEST CAIR IN NEW YORK CITY

GROUP WILL CALL ON MAYOR BLOOMBERG TO REMOVE CAIR PRESIDENT FROM NY HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION

(Coral Springs, FL) After a successful trip to Philadelphia to protest Congressman Joe Sestak's appearance at a CAIR fundraiser last month, Americans Against Hate Chairman Joe Kaufman will be flying to New York to protest another CAIR event, which will be featuring the National Chairman of CAIR, Parvez Ahmed.

At the protest, Kaufman will be calling on New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to remove CAIR-New York President Omar Mohammedi from the New York City Commission on Human Rights. Mohammedi was appointed to the Commission in October of 2002.

Mohammedi currently represents a number of organizations that are the defendants in a 9/11 lawsuit for the murder of 3000 innocent people. One of the organizations he is the lawyer for is the World Assembly for Muslim Youth (WAMY), a Saudi-based group with offices around the globe that publishes incendiary materials against Jews and openly supports Hamas and violent jihad.

Mohammedi also represents six imams that were removed from a plane that was headed for Arizona in November of 2006, in a lawsuit against the airline and passengers that reported the imams' suspicious behavior.

CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was created, in June of 1994, by leaders of the former American propaganda wing of Hamas, the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP). CAIR's Executive Director Nihad Awad has publicly stated his support for Hamas; CAIR has solicited money for a Hamas charity (Holy Land Foundation) on its website; and to this day, CAIR refuses to condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization.

Joe Kaufman, the Chairman of Americans Against Hate and founder of CAIR Watch, stated, "It is troubling to know that someone affiliated with radical Islamic groups could hold a position as Commissioner of a government Human Rights organization. The fact that this individual holds this position in New York City is a dishonor to those that perished on 9/11. We call on Mayor Bloomberg to remove Omar Mohammedi from his role as Commissioner immediately."
