Nine Israelis are dead from a Katyusha that hit Kibbutz Kfar Giladi, and another was killed nearby, in the latest rocket bombardment to hit the Galilee. Joy in PA areas.

A massive wave of Hizbullah-fired rockets hit throughout northern Israel around noon. One of the rockets hit a group of people sitting outside the Kfar Giladi cemetery, killing nine and critically wounding four more. One person is listed in "moderate" condition, and six or seven more were lightly hurt. Several of the casualties were members of one family. Heavy damage was caused to the area, and two cars could be seen burning on television footage two hours after the rocket hit. It is possible that the deaths were caused not only by the rocket, but indirectly by the impact into the cars.

The Homefront Command continues to emphasize, via the media, the importance of remaining in protected areas - though in this instance, no warning siren was sounded before the rocket hit.

Hizbullah's Al-Manar television station broadcast a special bulletin, with the announcement, "Today is one of achievements. The enemy has admitted to having dead and wounded following landing of the resistance rockets. The enemy's television pictures show the great blow and panic. There are cases of collapsed nerves and hysteria on their part. They never expected a great blow such as this by our resistance rockets."

Ynet also reported that in Shechem (Nablus), the largest PA-controlled city in the Shomron, dozens of cars set off in a joyous convoy, honking and flaunting pictures of Hizbullah leader arch-terrorist Sheikh Nasrallah. Chants for rockets on Tel Aviv were heard.

Elsewhere in the area known as the Galilee Panhandle, another man was killed, and a man was seriously wounded in Beit Hillel. A state of emergency has been declared in Kiryat Shmonah - where a building suffered a direct hit - and environs.

A series of rockets that hit Tiberias, 50 kilometers to the south, sent several people to the hospital to be treated for shock.

Warning sirens were sounded in Carmiel, Acco, Tsfat, and elsewhere; damage was reported.

Among the Hizbullah terrorists in the hands of the IDF is one of the kidnappers of the two IDF soldiers being held by Hizbullah. So reported IDF Intelligence Chief Gen. Amos Yadlin at the weekly Cabinet meeting. The terrorist, who took part in the abduction of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev nearly a month ago, is being interrogated by the Israeli security services.

Army Radio reports that approximately 40 policemen have been injured in the north in the line of duty since the war began. Most of them were not hospitalized for more than a few hours.

At least ten people were killed, and two others were critically wounded after a rocket hit a gathering spot in Kfar Giladi in the upper Galilee on Sunday afternoon, MDA reported.

In addition, four people were listed in serious condition, one suffered moderate wounds, and three were lightly injured.

WAR IN THE NORTH: DAY 26

MDA said that those who were badly hurt were treated on location, and were airlifted to hospitals in the region.

"It was a direct hit on a crowd of people," Dan Ronen, the chief of the northern police command, told Army Radio.

Convoys of police and rescue vehicles raced to the town.

"This was the most difficult thing I could have imagined in my career. There are nine bodies here covered in blankets, around us cars are going up in flames," Army Radio reporter reported as she choked back tears. "On one side is the cemetery, on the other side are the nine young bodies waiting for burial."

A security official said it was the "worst attack" that Israel sustained since hostilities broke out 26 days ago.

"The scene is very difficult it can be described as a battlefield," said Shimon Abutbul, a rescue worker who was one of the first to arrive in the area. "There was a lot of blood."

"We saw difficult scenes in the days of this fighting. This is the worst I have seen," he said, adding that the rocket hit cars among other things in the area.

A nearby forest burst into flames from the barrage and huge plumes of gray smoke rose into the air.

Many of the rockets hit the nearby town of Kiryat Shmona, damaging a synagogue and sparking a series of fires, Mayor Haim Barvivai said, calling on all residents to remain in their shelters because more barrages were sure to follow.

Rockets also landed in Nahariya, Karmiel, Rosh Pina, the Golan Heights, Ma'alot and Safed.

On Sunday, at least 100 rockets were fired into northern Israel.

This latest barrages of rockets follows a weekend in which three people were killed when a rocket scored a direct hit at their home in a western Galilee Arab-Israeli town.

The three were a 60-year-old woman and her two daughters, both in their 30s. They were all in the same room at the time of the strike.

They were later identified as Fadya Juma, 60, and her daughters Samira, 33, and Sultana, 31.

Some 170 rockets landed in Israel throughout Saturday, with 120-130 of those falling in one hour in the late afternoon.
