War Child 'charity' co- founded by member of royal family involved in arms lobby for Bosnian muslims in 2001 shuts down Chechen operations

July 4, 2006

MIM: War Child - the 'charity' (whose Dutch branch founder Mabel Wisse Smit,(employed by George Soros), went from being the lover of jailed Bosnian foreign minister Muhammed Sacirbey, to the wife of Prince Friso of Holland,) has announced they 'have decided to stop all support to their partner organisation in Chechnya ...euphemistically saying that they 'could no longer guarantee the effective and controlled managing of War Child project activities' .Translation: the money was 'finding it's way' into the hands of terrorists.

Mabel- as she is referred to in Holland, was the subject of a book by the investigative journalist Peter Siebelt- who detailed how her network of international drug and Islamofacist connections, and work in the Brussels office of George Soro's Open Society Institute in Brussels, laid the ground work for the massacre of Muslims in Srebrenica, exploiting the event to lobby for the establishment of an Islamist state in Bosnia. In an excerpt from his book "Mabel - Koninklijkje Bal Masque", Dutch investigative journalist Pieter Siebelt writes that Mabel is partly responsible for the killings that took place at Sebrenica. (See excerpt from Siebelt's book below 'Mabel medeverantwordelijk voor Sebrenica). According to a 'royal family' website biography:

In early 1994, Mabel Wisse Smit founded and became director of the European Action Council for Peace in the Balkans, a non-governmental organisation working towards peace, democracy and stability in the Balkans. In 1997 she became director of the Open Society Institute in Brussels. This institute represents the Soros Foundations Network in Western Europe, which promotes democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Mabel Wisse Smit has been director of EU affairs at the Open Society Institute since 2003. She co-founded War Child Netherlands in 1995. (complete bio below).

The Bosnian terror supporting network which Mabel and the Open Society Institute promoted also included the American based jailed head of the American Muslim Council Abdulrahman Alamoudi, whose various Bosnian 'charitable' initiatives channeled funding to Al Qaeda linked Muhajideen. The now defunct American Muslim Council (which dissapeared at about the same time Alamoudi went to jail ) created the American Task Force for Bosnia. (AMBTF).

The American connection was further explained by William Mayer the editor of Pipeline News :

One reason (for American support for Bosnian Muslims) certainly is naiveté, the belief by administration officials that efforts to aid Muslims in Bosnia would result in a dampening of Islamic rage then being directed against the United States. In this theory, the Muslim world would perceive the help that the Americans were lending to the Bosnians as being indicative of a "new even-handedness," thus signaling an opportunity for accommodation and a moderation of jihad.

American naiveté was greatly augmented by an intense lobbying effort, led by people like Khaled Saffuri and Grover Norquist [who has been allowed to masquerade for years as a conservative and deserves investigation in his own right].

Saffuri is now the director of the Islamic Institute an Islamist think tank. Previously he directed the American Task Force for Bosnia [AFFB], which he established in1992 with the expressed purpose of influencing American foreign policy to support the Muslim minority in Bosnia during the Balkan wars. During the mid 1990s Saffuri seemed to be constantly in Bosnia, at a time when Iranian and other Islamic terrorists wandered the landscape unchecked and with Washington's blessing.

HOUSE PASSES RESOLUTION TO LIFT ARMS EMBARGO ON BOSNIA
IT'S TIME TO FOCUS ON PRESIDENT CLINTON NOW ......

By the grace of Allah, the U. S. Congress has voted yesterday
(June 9, 1994) in favour of the McCloskey/Gilman ... amendment
(131; HR 4301). This requires the President to lift the arms
embargo against Bosnia and authorizes him to provide up to $200
million in defence articles and services upon request from the
Bosnian government.

My understanding is that this now goes to a joint committee of
the House and Senate where a bill will be drafted and sent to the
President. (Details such as bill number, etc., will be available
in short order) The President can either sign this into law or
veto it.

ACTION REQUESTED ....

It is now time to lobby President Clinton. Please call/write/fax
him to sign this into law.

Mabel Wisse Smit

Mabel Wisse Smit at her wedding to Prince Friso of The Netherlands

The Dutch Royal Family both celebrated and bemoaned the wedding of the queen's second son, Prince Johan Friso, which took place on Saturday, April 24, 2004.

In the moment of speaking two words, "I do," to his bride, Mabel Wisse Smit, the prince simultaneously committed himself to marriage and rejected the Dutch throne.

By law, the Dutch government must approve marriages proposed by royals in the line of succession. To receive approval, the engaged couple must disclose details from their past, including the extent of personal relationships.

Last October, the government announced that it believed "The couple had provided information that was not complete and not correct, which has harmed the confidence (of the government)." At issue was the bride-to-be's relationship with a known, now deceased, drug lord, which the government says was more extensive than she admitted.

Following that announcement, Prince Johan Friso and his bride decided to get married anyway. Although he is no longer in line for the throne, he will keep his title as prince and his children will be dukes and duchesses. His wife will remain a commoner.

Mabel Wisse Smit

Mabel Martine Los was born in Pijnacker on 11 August 1968, daughter of Hendrik Los and Florence Kooman. Sister Nicoline was born on November 27th, 1970. Henk Los was killed in a tragic speed skating accident on the Loosdrechtse plassen on February 18th, 1978. Her mother then married Peter Wisse Wisse Smit, with whom she got another daughter: Eveline in March 7th, 1981. In 1984 Mabel officially changed her name from Mabel Los to Mabel Wisse Smit.

Young Mabel grew up in het Gooi in the central Netherlands. In 1986 she gained her VWO degree at the Gemeentelijk Gymnasium in Hilversum. She studied economics and political science at the University of Amsterdam, and graduated cum laude in 1993. While still at university, she gained work experience at the United Nations Secretariat in New York, Shell in Malaysia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague and ABN AMRO Bank in Barcelona.

Mabel was introduced to Johan Friso by her good friend, Laurentien Brinkhorst, now wife of Prince Constantijn.

MIM: According to Pieter Siebelt it is Mabel's relationship with Muhammed Sacirbey - not Klaus Bruinsma, which is of pivotal importance in influencing European policy towards the Bosnian Muslims. Mabel's relationship with Bruinsma was exposed in the press after her engagement was announced to Prince Friso. She denied everything and even lied to the Prime Minister during a personal meeting. Bruinsma was shot to death by rivals. The relationship was but one of the sordid connections which Mabel managed to turn to her advantage.

Bosnië-Herzegovina
Kaart Bosnië-Herzegovina

De afgelopen jaren financierde War Child vanuit het Pavarotti Music Center (PMC) in Mostar drie projecten: The Schools Music Project, The Blind School Project en The Music Therapy Department. Deze projecten bereikten jaarlijks duizenden kinderen met psychosociale programma's, waarin muziek centraal stond.

'War Child' involved with arms lobby

Dutch royal scandal sheds light on former 'Bosnia lobby'

The 'charity' War Child was used a a cover for arms lobbying during the Bosnia war. War Child was always a politically dubious organisation, and was involved in financial scandals before. The current scandal in the Netherlands about the fiancee of Prince Friso - Mabel Wisse Smit - has unexpectedly given an insight into War Child. Mabel was a co-founder of War Child Netherlands, and that is not as admirable as it seems.

The scandal has been misreported outside the Netherlands as a sort of romantic tragedy. Even in the Netherlands, attention concentrated on Mabel's affair with gangster Klaas Bruinsma while she was at university.

But the later period is much more interesting. The truth is that Mabel Wisse Smit was thoroughly involved in the international pro-Bosnia lobby, including its illegal arms lobby activities. She worked at the United Nations in 1993: there was an all-out war in Croatia, and the Bosnian war was starting. See the chronology

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/country_profiles/1066981.stm

There she met the charismatic Bosnian ambassador to the UN, Mohammed Sacirbey, and began an affair with him which lasted several years. He later became Foreign Minister - he is now in an American jail awaiting extradition to Bosnia, on charges of embezzlement during that time.

Mabel helped him with his lobby work on behalf of Bosnia, her role was largely behind the scenes. The Dutch inquiry into the Srebrenica massacre later confirmed that the two of them had direct access to the Foreign Ministry, and influenced Dutch policy, in the run-up to the massacre (1995).

In 1994 Mabel set up the 'European Action Council for Peace in the Balkans', she did that together with Willemijn Verloop en the lawyer Phon van den Biesen. Van den Biesen represented Bosnia at the International Court in The Hague, when Bosnia charged rump 'Yugoslavia' (= Serbia) with genocide. He made the opening speech together with Sacirbey. The EACPB operated from his office. It is very unclear what exactly it did at the time, or since. Two meetings in the last 8 years are all that show on internet searches. But it's clear that the founders defined 'peace' as Bosnian success in the war - not as the absence of fighting.

By mid-1995 the war had reached a critical phase. The Croatians went on the offensive with American-trained troops, and captured the Serb-inhabited Krajina region in August. In July, Serb forces had captured Srebrenica, which was protected by Dutch troops, they abandoned the enclave. Details of the subsequent killings there emerged during the following months.

During 1995 the same three people set up a Dutch branch of the existing English 'charity' War Child. Willemijn Verloop was paid by the EACPB - its funding is also unclear - to organise its activities. So War Child Netherlands was being run by the Bosnian Foreign Minister's girlfriend, the Bosnian governments lawyer, and its organiser was in paid service of a separate political organisation - of which all three were directors.

The Bosnian forces were under severe pressure in 1995. They were geographically isolated and badly armed, and Sarajevo was surrounded. Officially no-one could help them militarily, because there was an arms embargo. UN Resolution 713, adopted in 1991, states:

"...all States shall, for the purposes of establishing peace and stability in Yugoslavia, immediately implement a general and complete embargo on all deliveries of weapons and military equipment to Yugoslavia until the Security Council decides otherwise following consultation between the Secretary-General and the Government of Yugoslavia".

Bosnia had four strategies:

1. to seek secret arms supplies from western powers. That meant they would break their own arms embargo, but they had already done that to aid the Croatians.

2. to campaign to get the arms embargo lifted. Pro-Bosnia campaigners in the west supported this option.

3. to encourage a NATO invasion of Bosnia, which would be a de facto war against the Serb militias.

4. to seek illegal arms supplies from others, mainly Muslim states. Bosnia certainly got arms, and money to buy arms, from a network of Islamic sympathisers, including the then little-known Osama bin Laden. Supplies through Croatia in 1995 were tacitly approved by President Clinton. For the Iran-Bosnia connection, see

http://www.ksg.harvard.edu/kokkalis/GSW3/Ibrahim_Al-Marashi.pdf

Sacirbey would have been involved with all of these strategies. He certainly tried openly to break the arms embargo, see this Reuters item for instance...

Iran says Islamic army chiefs to meet on Bosnia

NICOSIA, July 24 1995 (Reuter) - Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati was quoted on Monday as saying defence ministers and military chiefs from eight Moslem states will meet soon to discuss ways of helping Bosnia's beleaguered Moslems. Veleyati, quoted by IRNA in an interview with the Tehran daily Iran, said the military chiefs would 'discuss practical ways to help Bosnian Moslems." Bosnian Foreign Minister Mohammed Sacirbey, who attended the Geneva meeting, told a news conference later that he had been given pledges of weaponry and that OIC military chiefs and IRNA said Velayati stressed in his remarks to the newspaper that 'according to the article 51 of the United Nations charter, the Bosnian government has the right to conclude bilateral defensive contracts with other countries.
---------

This is the kind of activity which Mabel Wisse Smit supported, at the same time as she was a director of War Child. The 'children's aid charity' War Child provided an alibi, for her activities together with Sacirbey. There are unconfirmed recent reports from Bosnian media, that she was involved in one specific arms deal, with Egypt. But she was certainly aiding Bosnia in the pursuit of the 4 strategies named above, all of them military.

The founders of War Child in Britain, Bill Leeson and David Wilson, must have known what they were doing, when they let Mabel Wisse Smit use their organisation's name and logo. They must have known that the EACPB was a pro-Bosnian group, and that she had links to Sacirbey. But in any case, War Child was funded from the start by the British government: it was never a neutral aid organisation, and they would not have got funding if they did not serve British policy. And it was not as squeaky-clean as its stated aims imply. Leeson left War Child after taking a bribe from contractors for its prestige Pavarotti Music Centre in Mostar, see

Primarily, War Child serves as a long-term and indirect propaganda campaign for western intervention. All the places where it works have been named as future targets of western intervention, or have already been the target. War Child says:

"The severe psychological wounds that war inflicts on children can scar them for life, crippling the very generations that must one day re-build their devastated countries."

Then why support western intervention, and why provide cover for the arms lobbyists of nationalist movements?

‘Grof gezegd: she's a lying bitch.'

"Absoluut.

Grof gezegd: She's a lying bitch."

Was Mabel daarbij betrokken?

http://dutchreport.blogspot.com/2005/03/dutch-liberals-scared-of-queen.html

Dutch Liberals scared of Queen

Queen BeatrixOfficially the Netherlands is a constitutional monarchy. Many years of state and media propaganda have lead many Dutch people to believe that the Queen has no political power. But the last decades Queen Beatrix has steadily worked to enlarge her political powers. In a recent speech at the university of Leiden she praised the politicians that she that the last decades they have given her much more freedom.

There have been many incidents. Not a long a go it became public that the royal family gave direct orders to the intelligence service, without the responsible minister even knowing about it. Not generally know but a long time practice is that the Queen even has her own shadow cabinet and every Monday prime Minister Balkenende goes to her "working" palace to speak through the current affairs of the country. She also can order any minister to her palace to let him or her explain his or her actions. There is much more to tell, but I think this shows that she is certainly not only ceremonially figure. Queen Beatrix and her son Willem Alexander the heir to the thrown, have already said several times that they are not interested in a pure ceremonial role.

Theo van GoghAfter the murder on Theo van Gogh the royal family wrote in a letter to the family of Theo van Gogh that they did not had time to attend the funeral. But a day after the funeral they could be seen at all kind of multi culture events. That same week, the queen was even giving rewards to ‘liberal' Muslims. Who in the press blamed Dutch sociaty for the circumstances that lead to the murder of Theo van Gogh. The royals seem to be one of the staunchest supporters of the multicultural society (See also: Royal Support for Muslims)

The queen does not change her political agenda, but the Dutch politicians do not feel comfortable with the low legitimacy the have. Trust in the government has never been so low. Many political parties are rewriting their manifesto's. Also the Dutch liberal party (VVD) recently wrote a new liberal manifest. But now newspaper AD reports that the writers of the new liberal manifest wanted to propose the removal of the political power of the Queen. But they did not include it in the manifesto, because they where afraid it would get to much media attention.

"They did not dare to touch the monarchy. About god, the Queen and the tax deduction for house owners you don't talk as politician" says a prominent liberal (VVD) parliamentary. The liberal (VVD) has always supported the monarchy for practical reasons, does it sound within the liberal leadership.

Minister BrinkhorstIn parliament there has always been a large majority of political parties who say they are against the monarchy, but in practice they support it for political reasons. Traditionally the more leftwing parties always said they were against the monarchy. Take for example the social-liberal D66, they always made a big point about constitutional reforms and their former leader, Thom de Graaf, proposed 6 years ago to make the queens role purely ceremonial. But now they are in the government they stay silent. Although, Thom de Graaf, is now special minister for constitutional reform in the current administration. The tiny D66 has only a few minister posts in the administration, but made Brinkhorst whose daughter married a Royal prince (3th in-line), minister again. Not surprisingly Brinkhorst said after the murder on Theo van Gogh that Hirsi Ali her movie Submission was a provocation.

Pim FortuynAt the time of the 2002 election the poles indicated that Pim Fortuyn was, with more than 25% of the votes, to become the biggest political party and that would most likely make him the next prime minister of The Netherlands. Fortuyn had already promised that he as Prime Minister would give Queen Beatrix a pure ceremonial role. But that is all history now, he was assassinated a week before the elections.

MIM: Prince Friso's grandfather Prince Bernhard was married to his grandmother Queen Wilhemina. Both she and her consort fled Holland before the German invasion and spent the war years in Canada and Britain. Bernhard and was known to have been a member of Hitler youth and is a descendant of the House of Hohenzollern. Two Dutch writers produced a cartoon version of his life story - which is described as having taken some license with the facts. Prince Friso's mother Queen Beatrix also married a German, Prince Claus. The marriage which took place more then two decades after the war still aroused anger in Holland because Claus van Amsberg was a German. In 1985 riots broke out during Beatrix's coronation day instigated by the left wing squatter movement under the slogan - Geen Kroning- Geen Woning - No crowning - No housing.http://www.anno.nl/anno/anno/i001697.html

7th Bosnian Muslim Brigade, based in Zenica - the international Islamic mercenary force known as the mujahedeen

"... The first and foremost of such conclusions is surely the one on the incompatibility of Islam and non-Islamic systems. There can be no peace or coexistence between the "Islamic faith" and non- Islamic societies and political institutions. ... Islam clearly excludes the right and possibility of activity of any strange ideology on its own turf. Therefore, there is no question of any laicistic principles, and the state should be an expression and should support the moral concepts of the religion. ..." page 22 "The Islamic Declaration" book ("Islamska deklaracija"), written by Mr. Alija Izetbegovic, Bosnian Muslim leader.

In preparing the ground for the conflicts between Bosnian Cristians (Croats and Serbs) and Bosnian Muslims, residents of different Arab countries who in the B&H had recognized the elements and challenge of "a holy war" - jihad. Coming from different Arab countries, most of them were from Yemen, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Afghanistan, and bringing with them experience from a war from some of the Islamic trouble spots.

Mujahedin, or «holy warriors», is a generic term for Muslim volunteers fighting in the former Yugoslavia. Many Mujahedin originate from Muslim countries outside the former Yugoslavia. It was reported that the Mujahedin began arriving in BiH as early as June 1992. (Tom Post & Joel Brand, «Help from the Holy Warriors», Newsweek, 5 October 1992, at 52). Reports on the number of Mujahedin forces operating in BiH vary, but it is unlikely that the Mujahedin forces have made a significant military contribution to the BiH Government's war effort (Christopher Lockwood, «Muslim Nations Offer Troops», Daily Telegraph, 14 July 1993, at 14. According to Lockwood, Muslim nations depended on Western logistical support to deliver troops to BiH. He concludes that the same logistical troubles which kept the Muslim troops promised in July of 1993 from joining UN forces in the UN declared «safe havens» also limited the number of Muslim volunteers in the BiH armed forces. He states that the number of Mujahedin in BiH never exceeded three or four hundred. See also Mohamed Sid-Ahmad, «Muslim World Between Two Fires», War Report, January 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 63744. However, the Belgrade Daily, Vecernje Novosti, reported that as many as 30,000 Mujahedin were operating in BiH. «Other Reports in Brief: Muslims from Abroad Settling in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgrade Daily Claims», BBC, Summary of World Broadcasts, 19 September 1992. )

The Mujahedin forces came from several Muslim states and many of them were veterans of the Afghan war. (Andrew Hogg, «Arabs Join in Bosnia Battle», Sunday Times, 30 August 1992)

Reports submitted to the Commission of Experts alleged that the Mujahedin have been responsible for the mutilation and killing of civilians, rape, looting, the destruction of property, and the expulsion of non-Muslim populations. The deputy commander of the BiH Army, Colonel Stjepan Siber, has said, «it was a mistake to let them [the Mujahedin] here . . . They commit most of the atrocities and work against the interests of the Muslim people. They have been killing, looting and stealing.» Andrew Hogg, «Terror Trail of the Mujahedin», Sunday Times, 27 June 1993.

Several reports indicate that the Mujahedin were placed under the command of the BiH Army.(See «Some 400 Mujahedin Volunteers Fighting with Bosnian Muslims», Agence France Presse, 22 September 1992; Andrew Hogg, «Arabs Join in Bosnia Battle», Sunday Times, 30 August 1992; see also Charles McLoed, ECMM, «Report on Inter-Ethnic Violence in Vitez, Busovaca and Zenica», April 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 20178- 20546, at 20207; Croatian Information Centre, Weekly Bulletin, No. 9, 4 October 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 36434-36438, at 36435; US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62648, 62724, 62730, and 62756)

The Mujahedin forces were closely associated with the 5th Corps, the 6th and 7th Zenica Brigades, the 7th Travnik Brigade, and the 45th Muslim Brigade which belongs to the 6th Corps in Konjic of the Army of BiH (US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62648; see also Croatian Information Centre, Weekly Bulletin, No. 9, 4 October 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 36434-36438, at 36435; «Continuing Clashes in Northwestern Enclave Reported from Both Sides», BBC, Summary of World Broadcasts, 14 December 1993.)

They also allegedly fought alongside the Muslim Police, the Krajiska Brigade from Travnik, units of Kosovo Muslims, Albanian soldiers, and paramilitary groups such as the «Green Legion» and the «Black Swans».(Charles McLoed, ECMM, Report on Inter-Ethnic Violence in Vitez, Busovaca and Zenica, April 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 20178-20546, at 20207; Croatian Information Centre, Weekly Bulletin, No. 9, 4 October 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 36434-36438, at 36435; US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62648, 62724, 62730, and 62756.)

Reports also indicate that the Mujahedin had the support of President Izetbegovic and his government. *57 This was demonstrated in the Bihac pocket, where the Mujahedin joined BiH forces loyal to Izetbegovic. Together, these forces battled separatist forces who entered into a separate peace treaty with Bosnian Serbs («Continuing Clashes in Northwestern Enclave Reported form Both Sides», BBC, Summary of World Broadcasts, 14 December 1993)

In Zenica, between 31 August and 2 September 1992, 250 Mujahedin troops allegedly come to BiH from Turkey, Qatar, Bahrain and Iran. These troops worked alongside the Green Legion and HOS paramilitary groups stationed in Zenica. The Mujahedin allegedly also operated a camp at Arnauti.(Charles McLeod, ECMM, Report on Inter-Ethnic Violence in Vitez, Buscovaca and Zenica, April 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 29043-29131, at 29064; Biljaja Plavsic, Republic of Serbia Presidency, To Serbs All Over the World, 30 September 1992, IHRLI Doc. No. 48072- 48093, at 48081)

It was reported that a unit of the Mujahedin, called the «Guerilla», participated in the 16 April 1993 attack on Vitez and attempted to exchange 10 HVO hostages for foreign prisoners held in HVO prisons. (US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62629; see also Charles McLeod, ECMM, Report on Inter-Ethnic Violence in Vitez, Busovaca and Zenica, April 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 29043-29131, at 29072 (attack on Vitez).

The Croatian Ministry of Defence is reported to have provided information about an event occurring in June 1993 -- a joint BiH/Mujahedin unit reportedly attacked Travnik, allegedly forcing 4,000 Croatian civilians and military personnel out of the town. (US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62650. Media reports however claim that Croats left Travnik voluntarily. The incident was investigated by an organization, which reported that the forceful eviction did not take place)

The Mujahedin allegedly fought alongside the 6th Muslim Brigade from Zenica and the Krajiska Brigade from Travnik. Witnesses stated that they saw Mujahedin operating in small patrols ahead of the approaching BiH troops.

According to HVO intelligence, Mujahedin forces arrived in Travnik sometime before June 1993 and came from Algeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran. The Mujahedin trained at a camp at Mehurici, where they were allegedly financed and equipped by a man named Abdulah, the owner of the «Palma» video store in Travnik. Once in town, the Mujahedin were linked to the Seventh Brigade of the BiH Army, and were reportedly assembled into units of 10 to 15 men, and moved about on regular patrols. The Mujahedin created tension in Travnik in the days prior to the attack on 3 June. One witness stated that the Mujahedin directed their actions towards the HVO personnel in town. They allegedly demonstrated, shouted slogans and fired their rifles in the air.

Mujahedin allegedly participated in the attack on Maljine in Novi Travnik on 8 June 1993, killing 20 to 30 HVO members and transporting Croatian women and children to the training centre at Mehurici.(Croatian Information Centre, Weekly Bulletin, No. 1, 9 August 1993)

In Konjic, the Mujahedin were part of a 100 member force stationed at Liscioi and led by Haso Hakalovic. The unit was assembled in February 1993 and included some Kosovo Muslims and members of the Black Swans from the Igman mountain region. (US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62756)

Allegedly, Mujahedin troops killed and expelled villagers, and looted and burned homes, when they moved against the Jablanica- Konjic area. The Mujahedin troops and members of the Black Swans reportedly conducted occasional raids without members of BiH forces. (at IHRLI Doc. No. 62752 and 62756. The village of Vrci was attacked on 25 May, and the village of Radesine was attacked on 10 June. See also Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Fifth Periodic Report on the Situation of Human Rights in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia, U.N. Doc. E/CN.4/1994/47, 17 November 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 52399-52435, at 52405 (alleging that the Mujahedin were involved in attacks at Kopjari on 21 October, Doljani on 27 and 28 June, and Maljane on 8 June). UN Special Rapporteur Mazowiecki claims that corpses of Mujahedin victims displayed evidence of protracted cruelty and mutilation. )

Reportedly, the Mujahedin volunteers arrived in Konjic in small groups. It was reported that they were from Afghanistan and that they claimed to be students. They were allegedly armed with Hekleri automatic weapons and former JNA equipment. Some Mujahedin were reportedly former students with no military experience.

Mujahedin forces were present in Mostar since early June 1993. They were reportedly stationed in the Santica neighbourhood on the Muslim/HVO front, where they manned bunkers, usually in groups of six or seven, armed with 7.62 millimetre semi-automatic weapons, machine-guns, and Zolja anti-tank weapons. They were billeted in a building they shared with the Muslim military police on the east bank of the Neretva River. The Mujahedin forces apparently left Mostar on 15 August. (US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62742 and 62677. For more details on the location of the Neretva living quarters, see Id. at 62739)

FRY reported that the Mujahedin began operations near Teslic in July and August of 1992. Troops from Saudi Arabia allegedly killed three Serbian Territorial Defence members and placed the victims' severed heads on poles near the «Tesanj turret». (Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Second Report Submitted to the Commission of Experts, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 28401-29019, at 28533)

Beheadings of Serbs by Mujahedin forces have also been reported in other areas.

The Mujahedin were also alleged to be part of the forces that invaded the village of Trusina near Foca on 15 April 1993. According to the report, attackers wore white ribbons on their arms and fought beside Albanian Muslim troops. Twenty-two civilians reportedly died in the attack. (US Department of State, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 62612-62877, at 62648; Croatian Information Centre, Weekly Bulletin, No. 9, 4 October 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 36434-36438, at 36435)

The Mujahedin allegedly performed crude circumcisions upon Serbian police forces, who were later treated by an American surgeon at the Kosevo hospital in Sarajevo. (Letter dated 7 December 1992 from the Deputy Representative of the US to U.N. Secretary-General, U.N. Doc. S/24918, 8 December 1992, IHRLI Doc. No. 3160-3177, at 3173; Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Second Report Submitted to the Commission of Experts, 1993, IHRLI Doc. No. 28401-29019, at 28566)

Denmark Links Arrests, Bosnia Terror Probe

COPENHAGEN, Denmark Oct 28, 2005 - The arrest of four young Muslims suspected of belonging to a network planning an imminent suicide attack in Europe stemmed from a terror investigation in Bosnia, Danish police said Friday.

In the Bosnian case, a Turk living in Denmark and a Swede originally from Serbia-Montenegro are under arrest in Sarajevo, and Bosnian police said they found explosives, firearms and other military equipment in connection with those arrests.

The Bosnian paper Slobodna Bosna said police also found a video cassette showing three masked men praying and asking God to forgive them for their self-sacrifice.

"We had a very short period to investigate but our information indicated that their action was imminent," said Danish police spokesman Joern Bro said, adding that investigators have asked Bosnian police about the alleged video recording.

"We don't know exactly what kind of terror (attack) they were planning but our information indicates that it could have been a suicide bomb," Bro said of the arrests in Bosnia, adding that the weapons found could also be used in a "sniper murder."

The four arrested Thursday at their homes in and around Copenhagen are aged 16 to 20. The suspects in Bosnia also are teenagers, the Swede, 19, and the Turk, 18. The four were in "close contact" with the two arrested in Bosnia; the Turk lived in Denmark, Bro said.

According to Sarajevo's Dnevni Avaz daily newspaper, one of the suspects detained in Bosnia was an 18-year-old preparing a suicide attack on the Sarajevo embassy of a European Union country.

Bro said one of the four men arrested in Denmark was a Danish citizen and the others were of Middle Eastern origin but police did not know their exact nationalities.

The three older suspects appealed the detention order Friday. Their lawyers did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

In raiding the suspects' homes, Danish police seized computers, computer discs, books with radical Muslim literature and cellular phones. Police also found $32,400 in cash.

Anja Dalgaard-Nielsen, a terrorism expert with the Danish Institute for International Studies, said early information "indicates that these are people that have been inspired by the al-Qaida movement."

Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen called the arrests "shocking."

Terrorists have not hit Denmark in 20 years, but the London bombings in July sparked fears that the Scandinavian country could be targeted for its participation in the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq, where Denmark has about 500 troops.

In 1985, a bomb exploded outside the offices of North West Orient airlines in Copenhagen, killing one person and wounding 16.

A series of bombs devasted London; the number of casualties numbered more than 40, 13 of whom died in a bus attack. An al-Qaeda group is linked to the London blasts: AP reports, "A group calling itself 'Secret Organization — al-Qaeda in Europe' has posted a claim of responsibility for the series of blasts in London according to a report in Der Spiegel."

Evan F. Kohlmann, author of Al-Qaeda's Jihad in Europe: The Afghan-Bosnian Network, argues that the "key to understanding Al Qaida's European cells lies in the Bosnian war of the 1990s. Using the Bosnian war as their cover, Afghan-trained Islamic militants loyal to Osama bin Laden convened in the Balkans in 1992 to establish a European domestic terrorist infrastructure in order to plot their violent strikes against the United States. As the West and the United Nations looked on with disapproval, the fanatic foreign 'mujahideen', or holy warriors, wreaked havoc across southern Europe, taking particular aim at UN peacekeepers and even openly fighting with Bosnian Muslims at times. Middle Eastern religious and charitable organizations, largely based in and funded from the Arabian Gulf, were responsible for bankrolling this effort, and providing travel documentation for would-be mujahideen recruits." Kohlmann adds that "many of the cell members – responsible for some of the most notorious terrorist attacks of the past decade – spent their formative years waging jihad in the unlikely Muslim land of Bosnia."

Therefore, it is safe to say that the birth of al-Qaeda as a force on the world stage can be traced directly back to 1992, when the Bosnian Muslim government of Alija Izetbegovic issued a passport in the Vienna embassy to Osama bin Laden. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2001 that "for the past 10 years, the most senior leaders of al Qaeda have visited the Balkans, including bin Laden himself on three occasions between 1994 and 1996. The Egyptian surgeon turned terrorist leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri has operated terrorist training camps, weapons of mass destruction factories and money-laundering and drug-trading networks throughout Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Bosnia. This has gone on for a decade. Many recruits to the Balkan wars came originally from Chechnya, a jihad in which Al Qaeda has also played a part."

THE BOSNIA/911 CONNECTION

An AP article of 2002 entitled, "U.N.Lawyer Turns Over Hijacker Info," reported that "the chief U.N war crimes prosecutor has turned over information about one of the Sept. 11 hijackers to the United States, France and the Netherlands, the U.N. spokesman said Wednesday...The war crimes prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte, said last October that information concerning people with connections to terrorist groups, primarily in Bosnia, was provided to Pierre Prosper, the U.S. ambassador at large for war crimes.

"On Wednesday, [UN Spokesman] Eckhard confirmed for the first time that the information included material related to 'one of the named terrorists said to have been on one of the hijacked aircraft' on Sept. 11. Eckhard refused to name the hijacker but said the information was also shared with the French and Dutch governments."

The report further states that "following the terrorist attacks on the United States, Del Ponte was approached by the U.S. Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands and asked for information in identifying those responsible, Eckhard said. The office of the prosecutor did in fact have some information in relation to one of the named terrorists said to have been on one of the hijacked aircraft, he said. An electronic version of some of the information was then given to Prosper as well as French and Dutch officials, Eckhard said.

"Florence Hartmann, the spokeswoman for Del Ponte, said U.N. investigators may have had information about some Muslim fighters who stayed on in Bosnia after the civil war ended in 1995."

Moreover, Gregory R. Copley, editor of Defense & Foreign Affairs, writes: "The Islamist-dominated Government of Bosnia & Herzegovina (B-H) is proposing as its new Ambassador to the United States a woman who was one of the founders of the radical Islamist Muslim SDA Party (Party of Democratic Action [Stranka Demokratske Akcije]), which has had, since its foundation, strong links with al-Qaida and a variety of other Islamist terrorist organizations, and to the intelligence and terrorist-training arms of the Iranian Government."

In his commentary, "We bombed the wrong side?" former Canadian UNPROFOR Commander Lewis MacKenzie wrote, "The Kosovo-Albanians have played us like a Stradivarius. We have subsidized and indirectly supported their violent campaign for an ethnically pure and independent Kosovo. We have never blamed them for being the perpetrators of the violence in the early '90s and we continue to portray them as the designated victim today in spite of evidence to the contrary. When they achieve independence with the help of our tax dollars combined with those of bin Laden and al-Qaeda, just consider the message of encouragement this sends to other terrorist-supported independence movements around the world."

I repeat these words of General MacKenzie: "Just consider the message of encouragement this sends to other terrorist-supported independence movements around the world." (My emphasis)

WE HAD HIM!

In his book, Dereliction of Duty, Lt. Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson, chief military aide to President Clinton writes: "The White House Situation Room was buzzing. It was fall 1998 and the National Security Council (NSC) and the 'intelligence community' were tracking the wehereabout of Osama bin Laden, the shadowy matermind of terrorist attacks on Americn targets overseas. 'They successfully triangulated his location,' yelled a 'Sit Room' watch stand. 'We've got him.' Beneath the West Wing of the White House, behind a vaulted steel door, the Sit Room staff sprang into action. The watch officer notified National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, 'Sir, we've located bin Laden. We have a two-hour window to strike'. Characteristic of the Clinton administration, the weapons of choice would be Tomahawk missiles. After several attempts to first locate President Clinton to receive permission to get Osama bin Laden, Presindent Clinton was nowhere to be found. When the President finally accepted Berger's call, there was discussion, there were pauses -- and no decision. 'We studied the issue until it was too late -- the window of opportunity closed'."

On 11 March 2004, 190 people were killed at the Madrid Train Station. One of the main terrorists was born in Bosnia yet very little was made of this important connection. However, whenever or if ever information is uncovered of a possible connection of the London terrorists to Bosnia, it will be played down as was the Bosnia connection to the Madrid bombing. It wouldn't be prudent.
