Hizb ut Tahrir issues press release on own website and holds press conference about being banned in the UK

Tickets "selling out fast" for August 7th Muslim Unity Conference
August 5, 2005

MIM: Instead of clicking onto 1924.org and seeing 'this page cannot be displayed' HT has issued a PR and held a press conference to complain about being banned in the UK. Apparently government officials in the UK havent yet figured out that part of banning a terrorist group is to start by shutting down their website. Step number two usually means arresting the group's leader and spokesman who was speaking at the press conference and left his phone number and contact information for media interviews.

MIM: What part of being banned didn't you understand?

MIM: HT's 'fearless leader Imran Waheed meets the press to protest the banning of his group . HT proclaims itself to be a non violent organisation which could mean that advocating the killing of Jews and other non Muslims, as well as saying that the UK deserved the London bombings is considered to be the duty of Muslims to establish the Caliphate and therefore cannot be seen as acts of agression.

Press Conference Statement 31st July, 2005

Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentleman.

I would like to make a short statement on behalf of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, the organisers of today's emergency meeting, prior to entertaining your questions.

We would like to make it absolutely clear that we believe there was no justification whatsoever for the attacks on civilians in London on July 7th 2005.
Islam does not allow the killing of innocent civilians as occurred in London.

Since the events of July 7th 2005 there have been many speeches by politicians, particularly the Prime Minister Tony Blair, and extensive media coverage devoted to the Muslim community in Britain and Muslims across the world.

On the 16th July at the Labour Party National Conference, Mr Blair said "they demand the elimination of Israel, the withdrawal of all Westerners from Muslim countries irrespective of the wishes of the people and government, the establishment of effectively Taliban states and Shariah Law in the Arab world en route to one Caliphate of all Muslim nations."

By these speeches the government is not only condemning those who commit acts of violence but those all of the Muslims and Islamic movements who are working for political change in the Muslim world. The vast majority of Muslims in the Muslim world are being oppressed and tortured by corrupt despots and dictators such as Karimov, Musharaf, Gadhafi, Abdullah, Fahd etc and are now demanding the removal of these rulers and the establishment of the Islamic Caliphate (Khilafah) which will lead the Muslim world and solve the multitude of problems afflicting those societies. These rulers have failed the Muslim masses. This demand is carried by Muslims through peaceful political means such as protests, demonstrations and rallies. For this work they are rounded up, tortured and murdered by these rulers who are often described by Mr Blair and Mr Bush as our "friends and allies."

Hizb ut-Tahrir has been at the forefront of this non-violent political struggle against the corrupt rulers of the Muslim world. To label all the work for political change in the Muslim world as extremist, violent and terrorist truly exposes the agenda of this "war on terror" – to ensure these corrupt rulers stay in power and to facilitate the Western political, economic and military aggression in our lands as is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. It is a war to prevent the Muslims realising their legitimate political demand of removing the corrupt rulers and establishing a sincere and competent leadership.

Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain strongly condemns these attempts to muzzle the political opposition to Western foreign policy in our lands.

The past few weeks have seen how the entire Muslim community in Britain is being held responsible for the actions of a few. The vast majority of the Muslim community in Britain have been living for decades as decent citizens working through political means to express their concerns about events both here and abroad. To stigmatise and hold the entire community responsible once again reaffirms the agenda to prevent the Muslims speaking out against the injustices in the Muslim world. In these times where every Muslim in the community is living in fear of harassment, arrest and possible execution, Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain urge the Muslim community to remain united, and not be divided along government lines of so called 'moderate' and 'extremist', and not to be silenced but to continue to speak the truth against injustice and oppression through peaceful political means as taught to us by Islam. http://www.1924.org/press_releases/index.php?id=2121_0_8_0_M
