Florida Young Democrats Taken Over by Islamists

The maniacs are running the asylum, targeting Jews, homosexuals and Israel.

Joe Kaufman is a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center and the Chairman of the Joe Kaufman Security Initiative. He was the 2014, 2016 and 2018 Republican Nominee for U.S. House of Representatives (Florida-CD23).

For the past two months, a group of young and angry Israel bashers, led by Central Florida anti-Semite activist Rasha Mubarak and under the banner 'Florida Palestine Network,' visited the offices of various Democrat lawmakers to harass and bully them into supporting the group's irrational and outrageous demands regarding Israel and Jews. What is ironic is that Mubarak and others from the group are involved with the Democratic Party, themselves. In fact, they have taken over significant segments of it, and they will not stop until they have more. Will they be successful, or will the party see through their bigotry and move to stop them?

Mubarak is Finance Director for US Representative Rashida Tlaib. Additionally, for the past two years, Mubarak has served as National Committeewoman for the Florida Young Democrats (FYD). During that time, she has worked hard to forge relationships with Progressive Democrats in the Florida Legislature. Lately, though, she has striven to destroy these relationships, by assembling a group to not only demand that these lawmakers unfairly condemn Israel, but to bully them into denouncing a Florida law that protects Jews from anti-Semitism, a bill that the lawmakers along with the entire Florida Legislature voted unanimously to support.

One of the legislators Mubarak and her group has pursued with harassment is Florida State Representative Anna Eskamani, a former ally of Mubarak. An issue the group is upset with Eskamani about is that, according to the group, Eskamani has "played both sides," equally condemning Israel along with Hamas, a group that Mubarak has cheered in the past. They complained that Eskamani has "treated Hamas as a terrorist organization," yet Hamas is designated as such by much of the world, committing war crimes by hiding behind human shields and targeting civilians with suicide bombings and indiscriminate rocket attacks.

Nourhan Mesbah is a prominent member of Mubarak's group. She is also Director of Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility for the College Democrats of America (CDA) and produces "inclusive language guides" for the Democratic Party. She has roots in Egypt and Lebanon. In May, Mesbah tweeted that deceased senior Hamas leader Mujahid al-Hadidi was "innocent." In June, she tweeted a post made by the Hamas-affiliated Shehab News Agency and mourned a Palestinian woman who was shot dead attempting to attack Israeli soldiers with her car and then knife. Mesbah says asking Palestinians or their supporters to denounce Hamas is "racist."

Last month, the Florida Young Democrats (FYD) posted on Facebook a statement signed by them and the Florida College Democrats (FCD) falsely claiming the Florida anti-Semitism bill "criminalizes criticism" of Israel. It made mention of legislative office visits Mubarak's group had staged on June 3rd. One visit was to Eskamani's office, where the group harassed her staffer; another was to Florida State Rep Carlos Smith, who spent over 40 minutes being attacked and ridiculed by the group. Smith, who is gay, accused them of homophobia, something Mesbah has personally been accused of. According to Mesbah, she authored "almost 95%" of the statement.

When Jackie Klein, the Religious School Director at Temple Israel in West Palm Beach, confronted FYD about the one-sided nature of the statement and her knowledge of growing anti-Semitism, FYD responded with a blasé reply and quickly deferred to Mesbah and her extreme rhetoric. Mesbah ignored Klein's concerns and moved to turn the conversation against Klein, herself, wildly accusing Klein of "denying" the "targeting of Palestinians and pro-Palestine activists" by lawmakers, the fantasy narrative that Mesbah and Mubarak concocted to separate the Democratic Party from what appears to be Israel's ever-decreasing Democrat advocates.

What Mesbah and Mubarak fear most is that, with this Florida law, HB 741, they and their ilk will have a difficult time singling out Israel for condemnation on Florida university and college campuses, unlike in the past, when they were able to do so at will. HB 741 recognizes, as does much of the global community, that the singling out of Israel for condemnation is a form of anti-Semitism and, as such, is completely unacceptable behavior within educational institutions or anywhere.

Another member of Mubarak's harassment outfit is Nadia B. Ahmad. Ahmad is, as well, a member of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and a recent delegate to the Democratic National Convention. She is, further, a visiting associate professor at Yale Law School and a board member of the Florida chapter of Our Revolution, a group tied to US Senator Bernie Sanders that promotes Socialist-minded issues for America, including defunding police. On June 7th, Ahmad's Our Revolution chapter called for an "arms embargo on Israel," and in May, Ahmad signed an open letter to President Joe Biden demanding an "end to foreign aid to Israel."

Why has the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) allowed Muslim extremists, who use social media to post support for terrorists and push to overturn a law that protects Jews from anti-Semitism, the ability to hijack significant segments of the Florida party? And not only have these radicals taken over large groups within the Democratic Party, but they are attempting to tear down popular elected Democrat representatives, in the process!

It is time for the Democratic Party to develop the chutzpah and cojones to confront and purge these Islamist bullies from the ranks of the party. People like Rasha Mubarak, Nourhan Mesbah and Nadia Ahmad are cancers, and if allowed to proceed unchecked, they will destroy the party from within.

How Mubarak and her Islamist cohorts are dealt with will determine whether the party has chosen the side of enemy Islamists or that of Democratic ally Israel. There is no middle ground. The future of the party is hanging in the balance.
